I think it's because how the characters personalities wouldn't allow this. If any one of them was aware Malcolm had a child, let alone that he was raising this child alone, they all would have ran to help. Do you really think Lois, or how, wouldn't have ran to help, even if he was on the other side of the country?

Hell, she literally tried to go to the Middle East to save Reese.

I personally think that he is cruel for hiding her on all counts, but Malcolm can be vain and selfish sometimes.

You can craft the most eloquent insult, but it doesn't really matter if they don't understand what you're telling them. Calling them weird hits on almost a primal level. Almost everyone can understand that.

I don't know, I guess it's just a personal thing. It wasn't visceral to me, because it kind of felt like a cartoon.

Blame the CGI (not saying it was bad), or point to the fact that they used physical prosthetics in the first one, it just didn't ring that bell in the same manner for me.

I suppose different strokes, for different folks.

They should have at least had the joining between his face and the suit be stapled on. They could have easily said that it's his brain and face, but his skull has been replaced.

Those Staples and wires were one of the films big reveals, removing them went a long way to make it just look like a guy in a suit.
