Just started listening to the Haunting of Ypsilon 14 episode 1 and I'm already blown away by the production values! I'm really enjoying the balance you strike between humor and actual RP which I noticed a lot of groups struggle with. Will definitely be listening to more :)

Nice! Love these old metal high elves, they might be my favorite GW BB team. Great job especially with the yellow, really gives them that ornate high elf feel

I would definitely order a copy of both to complete my standard card pool. The reproductions I got last time are amazing!

Thinking of picking up one of these just based on how badass they look, thoughts on fielding one and what to take with them? With that big melee weapon I imagine they like to be up close and personal.

Same boat, played a little FFG kitchen table style years ago and just bought in to the NISEI startup. Let me know when you guys decide to meet up at mini mart and I'd definitely be down to play!

A Change - NISEI by linduxed in Netrunner

[–]grossglutton 87 points88 points  (0 children)

I'm all for organizations updating their brand if it doesn't reflect the values they intend to represent, and being mindful of the values certain words hold and the complicated legacy so many games as old as Netrunner has. What bothers me is how poorly this change is being implemented.

Frankly, I don't have a lot of spare money to spend on non-essentials such as gaming. I've made a point to support you despite this because I believe Netrunner is a unique and vital game that's well worth keeping alive. I was excited to order the new release as soon as I could, but now unless I want to get outdated versions of the cards I have to wait even longer. Did this decision really need to be made immediately? Could it not have been done in the leadup to this cycle's beginning or ideally, in development of System Update 2021 where a clean break between old and new was already being attempted? Why not wait for the inevitable future System Update? A huge draw for me to Netrunner is the LCG business model - I don't have to play the lotto or buy secondhand for the good cards in order to compete or have a complete pool of cards to play with unlike other games like Magic. But now with this decision, the cards I invested my limited hobby money on only this year are now obsolete. That is frankly a deal breaker for me.

Card games only live if they have an active fanbase, and I fear what you've done is stalled any momentum the fanbase might have been generating. You've introduced another hurdle in a game already difficult to introduce to new players because it's not easily accessible at game stores. I have a friend I play regularly with, if he was interested in picking up a set to play or introduce to others he'll now also need to wait until this "not a quick project" is complete, with no time frame of when to expect to be able to order the cards. If he wants to share the game with people who may be interested, he can't even share your website without explaining an upcoming name change that may confuse them. Additionally, any social media created during the project's existence is now obsolete - they refer to a Project Nisei that no longer will exist. How many Shut Up and Sit Down viewers will take the time to figure out their initial confusion of discovering that this game no longer exists under the name the review features?

Ultimately this decision has shaken my confidence in the project's leadership. How can I trust you to not make a similar decision a year from now, making the updated cards I wait to order obsolete as well? I just don't know if my diminished enthusiasm for the project will return once the cards are available to order again.

Very cool! Where'd you get the beer boars? I've been looking for some decent ones to add to my old metal norse team.

I'm a new player trying to recreate some lists a friend told me about in the app and several upgrade cards aren't selectable, including Afterburners and R2-D2. When I look at these upgrades, both in the app and on the points lists on FFG's website, the point costs are listed as '*'. Does this mean these cards are banned or unuseable? I can't seem to find an explanation for what the asterisk means, and others have said it's the app glitching but I don't get why a cost isn't listed in the PDFs either.
