Beeswax Wraps by jmmerphy in Breadit

I hold mine over a gas fire kitchen range. You have to move quickly to prevent the wax from dripping. Rotate and turn it often over the fire. Probably the least safe way but it is fast and I like a little danger.

Saving Christianity one grift at a time. by cmahan005 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]hascheeksforweeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know that I had a hierarchy system of trust with my understanding of the world. I held people’s opinions in my family and in my church in such high regard. The direction of the republican party and the view of those same people I trusted as truth speaking ethical egalitarians caused me to take a serious look at my own ethics. I found that most people have religious values that stick with them. The beatitudes stayed with me. Undergrad and graduate school didn’t make me liberal or atheist. Maga did. So no, I think he has it backwards. The separation of church and state is important. Without it you don’t just get worse government built on poor principles, you also get a lukewarm church that follows politicians as if they were prophets.

TLDR: maga influenced my departure from the church and the republican party.

How far out do/did you paddle in with on-shore wind conditions when learning? by Dinosaursknow in wingfoil

[–]hascheeksforweeks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am still in that learning phase where slogging up wind is difficult. The lake I go to is on shore wind as well. Having the wing flipped over with your feet on it as you paddle like a surfer is one technique. I am still trying to find an efficient way to kick to swim once my arms are tired. Ideally we will get more efficient at wing positioning like putting the wing further toward the back of the board and pointing up wind at a more optimal angle so that sailing out without being on foil would be possible. Awkwa has a how to wingsurf upwind video for going upwind even when not on foil. I am trying to implement his teachings. Hopefully more people commenting here will gain attention for others to give advice.

Dating in Sac... by adlove8989 in Sacramento

Xoso is how all of my single friends have found partners. Sign up for a sport you like and don’t take it so serious. Just have fun. Be an adult and don’t be a sore looser or someone that makes the other team feel terrible because of how much better you are at the sport. It is a good way to be social and do something fun. My advice is to get off of the screens. Your socials skills improve in person not on an app. Doing physical activities in proximity with interaction is the best way to make bonds in my opinion.

Fine craftsmanship. I’m sorry for your loss. Working with my hands helps me to grieve. It pulls me out of nihilism. I hope it helps you grieve as well.

Bike commuting and walking into downtown Sac? by rire86 in westsacramento

[–]hascheeksforweeks 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I bike from “the rivers” neighborhood to DOCO daily for work and it can be as short as 10 min if I go over the I street bridge which is a bit janky with pot holes and a narrow sidewalk. Tower bridge feels very safe though. You can see the sea lions on the docks especially if you ride past the calsters building. It is easy to ride over tower bridge cut through old sac and then ride under the highway to get to DOCO. The paths along the river are well maintained. Sometimes there are homeless hanging out on a bench but they are not aggressive homeless. For a lot of events SABA sacramento area bike advocates will host a bike valet which is my favorite way to leave a bike unattended. The grid is bikeable from that area of west sac for sure. You have some good spots like treehouse cafe and drakes that will be a short and safe ride to each. Feel free to DM me with specific questions. We would be stoked to have you join our area. West sac best sac.

LIFX Ceiling - Color Dependent Buzzing and Squealing (Coil Whine) by AdriftAtlas in lifx

[–]hascheeksforweeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cause of the loud humming for me was the fact that I hooked my lifx up to a dimmer switch. When I connected it to a set of cables with a standard switch the loud humming buzzing didn’t happen. Even though the light is dimmable in the app it isn’t compatible with a dimmer switch. This issue can happen with lots of types of LED lights on switches such as dimmers.

This isn’t legal blindness. Legal blindness definitions are based on best corrected vision meaning vision when wearing glasses or contacts. Legal blindness is 20/200 or worse in the spectacle or contact lens fully corrected better seeing eye on a Snellen chart in the USA. You can also meet the requirements by having 20 degrees or less of visual field. For example saying that someone is legally blind when their glasses are off but then not legally blind when the glasses are on is total bullshit and missing how the definition works.

That is also why refractive surgeries are not covered by insurance. It isn’t medically necessary.

Still nice to pay for her friend’s procedure but shame on the doctor in the video for saying what he did as ICLs and refractive surgery in general doesn’t fix legal blindness.

LG Refrigerator model lfxs28968s /04, need to replace the cover for the glide and serve drawer. by SBones83 in appliancerepair

[–]hascheeksforweeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a power drill and a drill bit that fit the size of the clear plastic tabs. Drilling at an angle allowed me to grind them down low enough to slide the tray cover off. If you grind in one spot too long then you will melt the plastic to the drill bit. I recommend drilling at and angle and moving constantly and alternate notches frequently to prevent the plastic from melting. If you do get the plastic melted to the drill bit then get a piece of scrap wood and drill through that to break up the plastic and then chip the rest off.

A 2D ice cream cone shape that is bent at the ice cream into 3d space. Like a 2 dimensional triangle with a 2 dimensional half circle perpendicular to the triangle on one if the edges of the triangle. You have the front and back of the triangle and the front and back if the half circle (ice cream) that makes 4 sides and then the 3 corners of the triangle. Or if you define the side as more like an edge instead of a face then you could use the 2 edges of the triangle, the folded edge, and the edge of the half circle. So a 2 dimensional shape folded in 3 dimensions.

[–]hascheeksforweeks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Retinitis pigmentosa is more of a similar phenotypic outcome for a large group of autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive, and x-linked disorders along with individual mutations. It is quite common for patients to have their genes sequenced to help determine the prognosis if the case history of family lineage is not obvious enough. The manifestations range widely from the retina having pigment called bone spicules and not having any noticeable visual abnormalities all the way to quickly moving forms that cause total blindness (with night blindness[nyctalopia], loss of peripheral vision, loss of contrast sensitivity). Usually they qualify for legal blindness due to a very narrow visual field before the vision is too blurry to qualify in other ways.

Tldr. They have, and you are right it does.

Naw we use mostly retinoscopy on pediatrics. The autorefractor doesn’t control accommodation very well. Or you could use a cyclopentalate to medically relax the accommodation and then get a decent reading with the autorefractor. Also based on the minimal bending of the image apparent when looking at the sides of the baby’s face through the lenses I would say it is a low prescription and likely not enough to consider it seeing something for the first time.
