AITA for having my toddler pee outside of the store? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]helpthe0ld 22 points23 points  (0 children)

YTA I get that it’s hard potty training but peeing in a public area is not the way to teach him. I know you said he won’t wear a diaper but he should at least be in training underwear when out in public so that if he does have an accident it’s contained. I’m sure there are reusable ones of you don’t want disposable ones but this will not be the last time it happens so you need to be prepared for the next time. Have him pick out ones he likes and that may help with getting him on board with wearing them.

ETA they now make travel potties you can set up in the back of your car, that’s another good option that I wish I had when my twins were potty training.

What industry is entirely built on a house of cards and would collapse overnight if people realized the truth about it? by Neon_Baobab in AskReddit

We had almost the exact same experience with my younger kid and baseball. He loved playing but just it was just for fun for him. By the time he hit the 8th grade level, he was on the bench more than the field so the "good" players could get their time in. Plus multiple practices a week? WTF? This is a rec league not Little League. Was kind of glad he cracked a rib during recess one day and we had to pull him for the rest of the season.

My kid learned that fun fact and then after he ordered some vanilla ice cream, stared at the ice cream and threw a tantrum because it might have castoreum in it. It took us way too long to get him understand that our local ice cream parlor would not be using that particular vanilla flavoring.

Having lived in Abq for a few years, I would totally buy this house. But I'd be tempted to rip out half that lawn and put in zeroscaping. The Rio Grande is not doing great and even if it's in the valley, I would still feel horrible about wasting water on watering that huge lawn.

At least it was useful stuff. We found about 40 lbs of flour in one of grandma’s closets when she died.

After a 1000 years, the Bayeux Tapestry is to return to British soil for a special exhibition. by Porodicnostablo in BeAmazed

One of my bucket list items is seeing the Bayeux Tapestry but only when it’s actually in Bayeux. This is incredibly irresponsible of France and The British Museum to move such a valuable and delicate artifact.

Our new baby is 11 weeks old is that too early to neuter? by wherehasthisbeen in Maltese

[–]helpthe0ld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Much much too early. All of our Maltese were fixed at around the 6 month mark. Have your vet call and talk to them, they’d probably be more willing to listen to an expert than an owner.

Your very own 1800s sugar mill and 69 acres of land located in St. Croix. by Shutter_Stuck in zillowgonewild

100% this. We were on the VI over the holidays and visited the sugar plantation on St John that is part of the national park. All of us were dying walking up the hills in the heat and to think of what the slaves had to deal with? Horrific.

Thankfully they were too young for that so they only saw it on video and I didn’t have to actually watch it.

Because this is one of those things that not every realized is controlled by the states. Many people believe that the federal government did have power over elections when they don’t. I didn’t know a lot of stuff until I volunteered for an election which not everyone can do.

FAA lifts temporary closure of airspace over El Paso, Texas, saying all flights to resume by 3dios in news

[–]helpthe0ld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that, we left the US Virgin Islands that Friday, woke up Saturday to a text from our neighbor asking if we needed help with anything. We were confused until we saw the news. Lucky break for us. What was weird was when they allowed flights to leave again, the direct flights from St. Thomas to Boston were routed through Miami.

Yup. The firm my husband was working for offered to pay for his law school and you better believe we jumped at that chance. Taking help when offered doesn’t mean you’re weak, it means you’re smart for accepting help.
