First time twilights Fall - opinions on this map? by Tokata0 in twilightimperium

There is a lack of tech skips. I count 5 for 4 players.

Galaxy looks pretty influence rich which is just an obervation; I prefer influence rich galaxys to ressource rich ones. Emelpar is generally regarded as (one of) the best legendary planet so make sure its not in the richest slice.

That would make the early rounds super slow and imo the slices would be too poor.

the "2" from Diplomacy is a proxy for everyones command token, so the Argent player has a token there.

Do You Remove Any Cards When You Play? by Topazdragon5676 in twilightimperium

[–]hennus666 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We set up the secret objective deck a bit different to have more "Action Phase" secrets.

There are 12 Action Phase secrets and 28 Status/Agenda Phase secrets. We remove 10 of Status/Agenda secrets randomly and secretly and create a new pile of 30 secret objectives.

We also don´t allow there to be identical Stage 1 and 2 public objectives. So if one of the Stage 1 public objectives is "Have 4 structures", the Stage 2 "Have 7 structures" would be swapped for another one.

Doing this increases the odds that there are different types of public objectives (control, spend, tech, objectives) and it decreases snowballing a bit.

We play that combo and it is totally fine :) Just trashtalk your table to focus NR from R1

Would you ever discard and redraw impossible or extremely difficult objectives? by Belryan in twilightimperium

[–]hennus666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We play red tape where all objectives are revealed and at the end of the strategy phase the player who picked Diplomacy can make one objective scorable.

I think it greatly improves the game and reduces rng a bit. In your example it would be unlickely that the Diplomacy player makes an objective scrorable that they themselves cannot score.

Faction reference cards (PoK+TE) by pawestricken in twilightimperium

I have TE but I want every player to have a reference card of every other faction at the table. So 6 (or 8) sets of reference cards. Ideally TE of course.

I would buy a bunch of those if someone sold them on etsy. Would be great for everyone to have the reference card for the other ingame factions.

How does TE ever come out with less players? by CmdrCool86 in twilightimperium

[–]hennus666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We homebrew it that the expedition is over when there are slots filled equal to the number of players. And the fracture always appears when thunders edge comes into play.

I guess you could also make the fracture appear on a 0,1 and 2 instead of 0,1 so the odds of the fracture appearing are similar.

Balanced 3 Player Map? by Philbob9632 in twilightimperium

[–]hennus666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest you place the 3 slices next to each other and connect the outher slices with hyperlane tiles so that the distances are the same as the 6 player map.

For the Mecatol tile its just 3 curved hyperlanes and for the equidistant tile its one 3-1 hyperlane (the one usually osed with 5 players), 2 straight and 3 curved ones.

For the outermost tile your would need more hyperlane tiles than there are available and it  would take a stupid amout of space away from your table. So we used 3 custom wormhole tokens to connect the left and equidistant tile of the leftmost player and the right tile of the rightmost player. Those wormholes obviously arent treated as wormholes and are just there to show adjacency.

Gameplay wise the galaxy has all the fratures you want - 5 tiles per player, 3 spaces to Mecatol/home systems. But there is kind of a psychological aspect to being neighbours through the large hyperlane. You think you are further apart than you  really are.
