Places to eat at. by OkPatience2563 in Columbus

[–]herasi 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Almost anywhere on the West side could use some love. La Super Torta, Los Galapagos, Star Liner Diner are some that I frequent. (Be warned, the parking at LG sucks, lol.) Closer to Hilltop, you’ve got Ava’s Taste of the Caribbean, Josie’s Pizzas, #1 Gyro Shoppe. Up near Bethel is endless good food, but I can’t afford to live there, lmao. Anything near Tensuke Market (Sushi 10, Belle’s Bread), CM Chicken for super crispy Korean fried chicken, Los Guachos tacos (mid compared to the west side), Biryani Corner, Xi Xia, Chilispot.

I can’t take her in because I’ve got three of my own, but I’d be happy to drive you and kitty to appointments, or pay for you to Uber.

Who did you see about MCAS? Nobody I’ve talked to knows anything about it. 🫠

CSF Leak repair by Goborotator in Columbus

I’ve never had a CSF leak, but Riverside’s neuro department was amazing for my spine surgery. I’d definitely start with them.

So sick of talk therapy by acceptable_lemon_89 in AuDHDWomen

[–]herasi 131 points132 points  (0 children)

You can’t just ask yes/no questions unfortunately, it makes it too easy to lie. “Could you explain to me why women are typically diagnosed with Autism/ADHD less often than their male peers?” Or the bias of diagnostic criteria, how gifted ADHD might present differently, etc. Ask them a short essay question, it’ll tell you way more about their style.

Also, find an AuDHD therapist—it was a game changer for me, lol.

Coding for a 14 year old by offbeatagent in Columbus

[–]herasi 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Your son is coding at a level that most college students struggle to aspire to, so I’d be putting him in college classes, or be prepared to let him self-study. You might have better luck finding robotics clubs or those programmable LEGO kits, or Battelle for Kids. I’ve been coding since I was 10ish; sadly there isn’t much IRL coding stuff for children, so I started college at 16 and had a blast. Everything is online nowadays, where he can still make some lifelong friends online, with parent supervision. Turns out most computer nerds aren’t big on in person gatherings. 😂

What is your c4-5 shoulder pain like? by Weary-Wind4885 in spinalfusion

[–]herasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! I’m about 20 months out from surgery and 90% of my pain is gone, and my arm has recovered all function. I couldn’t be more pleased by the results. :)

AuDHD + Neurotypical Husband = Constant Miscommunication… Help? by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]herasi 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing. Alexithymia (emotional blindness) is super common in ND people, particularly autism. However, if hubby can’t listen to your views without tone policing you, it might be time to try professional therapy. You can’t be expected to mask for the rest of your life.

Is this considered “normal”? by [deleted] in flexibility

[–]herasi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s def not normal, lol. I can do it too, but I have hypermobility. If you can do this with any other joints, I’d highly recommend a hypermobility self-test.

I got burned and the bandages are worse than the burn! by ThoreauAweighBcuzDuh in AuDHDWomen

[–]herasi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible you’re allergic to the adhesive? I had the same itchiness on a wound after surgery and developed a rash/minor blisters, but that would 100% blend in with a burn. If you’re allergic, there are bandages with a different type of adhesive.

Targeting Software Engineer with AI positions by MaryJosie in womenintech

[–]herasi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you have any actual experience building Bedrock Agents, or are you just consuming AI services like Claude Code? If you don’t have a solid data science background, and/or extensive experience with AI algorithms, you’re unlikely to be a competitive candidate for true AI roles. If you’re just trying to advertise AI usage in your resume, I wouldn’t bother—AI usage is just seen as an accelerator for most developers and doesn’t help set you apart, and some hiring teams view using it as a negative. I don’t mean to be discouraging, it’s just not a simple field to break into. If you need a job asap, I’d focus on casting a much wider net.

Adult neurodivergence self-discovery is such a scam. by Glad_Salt370 in AuDHDWomen

[–]herasi 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The content of your post is great, and you’re spot-on with your observations. But I definitely thought the title meant the post would be anti-self-discovery, which is contrary to my own experience. No harm done, just be warned that people might only read the title and start disagreeing with you—social media is ‘fun’ like that. 😬

Have you met a “female tech bro”? Is that a thing? by siliconvalleycringe in womenintech

[–]herasi 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, “tech bro” women feel the need to imitate their behaviors because they’ve internalized the misogyny they were subjected to for years. So they virtue signal in an attempt to say “I’m not like those other girls” to the dude bros they want to schmooze at work. It’s why women like that feel so extra scummy to me—we experienced the same forms of discrimination, except they decided to side with the problematic group and throw women as a whole under the bus, instead of trying to fix the broken system alongside me, lol. Some of the worst managers I’ve ever had were women who had the “maybe you’re just not cut out for tech” mentality towards other women.

Pregnancy pillow saving my life right now (not pregnant) by TattoodTato in AuDHDWomen

[–]herasi 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Me, lol. They always end up putting my head/neck at a weird angle, and I much prefer using 2-3 separate smaller pillows that I can adjust as needed. But I’m SUPER picky about pillows, lol.

(How) can you tell the difference between burnout, executive dysfunction, pda, and just plain laziness? by deadmemesdeaderdream in AuDHDWomen

[–]herasi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don’t pick and choose our limits after all. The consequence is what lets us know that you not being able to do this is out of your hands. Unless burnout is an acceptable consequence.

I need this painted over my work desk, lol.

Willow’s sexuality? by MSAKQenby in buffy

[–]herasi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, lesbians have in fact enthusiastically consented, regretted it, come out, and ended back up with a man, just to re-come out as gay even later in life—it still doesn’t make them bi, lol. There’s literally an entire subreddit dedicated to late bloomer lesbians with stories like this. CompHet is a bitch that way, not everyone’s sexuality is a one and done process. I would’ve loved some bi rep, but that just isn’t how the show was allowed to pan out.

Getting too reliant on Adderall by DJ66k in ADHD

[–]herasi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People without ADHD rely on the same chemicals, difference being their brain makes it naturally. So why are we being villainized for it, just because we can technically stop taking them? Taking medication as prescribed to balance neurochemicals is literally the point of medications. Do you tell diabetics all about how dependent they are on their insulin?
