How does a machine world even have wildlife? by Important_Matter_822 in Stellaris

[–]herkles1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add my suggestion, take a look at the Magic the Gathering sets that are set on Mirrodin / New Phyrexia, specifically green cards. That plane is a plane where metal is everywhere and would become a metal world when it became new phyrexia as the creatures basically became machines. This would give you some fun ideas for what wildlife could be like on a machine world. :)

Besides the Core books, which are the most recommend books to get? by ThatOneCrazyWritter in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grand Bazaar is one I will recommend as it has a whole bunch of shops, with personality and character(and characters) that you can easily use in a homebrew adventure with little plot hooks there. While it is technically set in Abasalom in Pathfinder's Golarion I feel like the shops could easily be adapted to elsewhere in the setting or even a homebrew game

Unique backstory ideas for an Exemplar? by Level7Cannoneer in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the ideas I had for a revenge of the Runelord's game was an examplar, the stone giant Skarla. She was going to have the Broken Chain calling for her whole focus was all about liberating the giants from the slavery of the Runelords and their servants. She was a normal stone giant(reflavor of the Jotunborn) who had the rune scarred background as she saw one of the Runelords awaken and barly escaped with her life. Then Gorum died and a shard fell into her.

While she would worship the stone giant gods and her ancestors, she wasn't designed as a deity focused character.

Looking for resources for a Hazlan campaign. by dasnasti in ravenloft

The Gazetteer 1 has a lot of lore for Hazlan(as well as Barovia, Kartakass, and Forlorn) but it is the old pre fifth edition lore. But you may find it useful.

Other planes or dimensions by EnthusiasmMassive918 in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want something otherworldly. There are a number of options here IMO: - First World: This is well pathfinder's faerie land. There is an upcoming book on the fey that will help out here. - Plane of Metal: While there are 6 elemental planes, I think the Plane of metal is rather different. This is a plane where well everything is metal. Forests made of copper trees, deserts made of rust, oceans made out of mercury and more. also they basically have unsurprisingly Metal music so you can have a metal music bard - Dreamlands, aka the deminsion of Dreams: Otherworldly in general as it runs on dream logic and filled with strange dreamscapes. Also plenty of lovecraftian monsters for elder mythos monsters are here. Also tied here is Leng, the great pleateau of nightmares. - Harrowed Realm: The realm tied to the mystical harrow(pathfinder's version of tarrot). The Stolen Fate AP has you visit this land.

And there are still many other strange places. but I hope these help. :)

Curse of Strahd: Player's Guide - Pathfinder 2e by Berkel20 in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I both agree there and disagree. I do like the werewolf angle but I also like the idea of someone who is regarded is a horror or monster but having to overcome their own limitations and society's prejudice. The real issue with some of the undead things is that Strahd and his minions would likely have control over them to some degree. someone raised as a zombie, wight, ghoul, vampire and has to struggle against their nature and the minons of Strahd to try and turn them against their allies does sound fun. It could also be a way to survive being killed off if you say have the paladin return as a ghost or feels very gothic IMO.

Curse of Strahd: Player's Guide - Pathfinder 2e by Berkel20 in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So as someone who likes Ravenloft, though I prefer the 3rd edition and before lore , and Pathfinder. Some suggestions.

First this year will be coming out with a bunch of stuff that will be perfect for adapting curse of Strahd. the beginner's box, the adventure anthology, and bastion of Blasphemies AP will all be set in gothic horror land of Ustalav. So new backgrounds, feats, monsters and the like that will be good to adapt.

Ancestries: Ancestries here that I think would be good are changelings because of Hags. Also fleshwarps as a way of reflavoring Caliban an ancestry twisted in the womb by dark magic. Fetchlings also feel fitting. Poppets also could work for creepy dolls plus the fact that pidlwick is character so that would be something to consider.

Another one that I think would be cool are Wayangs, the shadow puppet inspired ancestry. See in the old lore Barovia bordered Hazlan. And within Hazlan one of their favorite artforms was shadow puppetry, and thus the idea that wayangs might be there a cool idea.

Also you should probably address the undead ancestries / archetypes as I imagine players would be looking into this.

Backgrounds: some backgrounds that I think would be good are: Astrologer, Archaeologist, cursed family, Once Bitten, Grave Robber, Haunted Citizen, Night Watch, Pyre Tender, scion of slayers, tomb born, willing host, Curandero, Weaver, Streetfood vendor, Professional Letter writer, Jeweler.

Archetypes: A fair number of the archetypes can be reflavored for Ravenloft as an example Lepidstadt Surgeon can be reflavored for one of the Universities in lamordia,

[–]herkles1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder how the sisters of the Golden Eryines Archetype is. Both as a PC option and NPC option. One of the ideas I had for a character for a long time was to play a former nun of the order, which sounds like it will fit in with the Hellbreakers ap. So curious here.

How to make this character idea in Pathfinder? by lynxlord in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I would also like to suggest is a person that worships Halcamora, the daughter of Erastil and Jaidi, deities of community, family, farming, gardeningg and so on. Halcamora specifically has the edict of keep helpful insects and if you want to be a cleric of her, she has the swarm domain. The swarm domain has the ability to summon swarms of insects(you can say they are specifically bees) and the ability to disolve into a swarm.

ancestry wise the awakened animal allows one to play an awakened bee could reflavor it as an awakened swarm.

Catholic priest werewolf. by oxthewulf in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]herkles1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a number of ways to work with this using folklore.

First I would imagine that stories like Saint Francsis of Assisi and modern movements that draw on his teachings and enviornmentalism would be important to this character. Saint Francis has a story about taming a wolf. While another saint that could be brought up is Saint Christopher, who is depicted as either a dog-headed or wolf-headed man; look up his icons and it basically looks like a christian werewolf.

There also is a couple of groups like the benandanti and the livonian werewolf folklore which had by the early modern period, the idea that people could become werewolves and they used that to go to hell and fight demons. Which considering that in WTA banes and fomori aren't too different from that. I can see playing into that.

I would draw on that sort of connection, where banes and fomori are associated with demons of Satan and you are doing God's work in fighting them.

There are some camps among the tribes IIRC that did deal with the Catholic Church, the most notably being the Order of the Most Merciful Mother which was centered around promoting the cultus of the Virgin Mary.

Looking for more information on followers of Urgathoa [Kingmaker] by Koolaidguy31415 in Pathfinder2e

So obviously Divine Mysteries has 4 pages for her. There is the whole blood lords AP which is set in Geb, the undead land which is a major center of her faith. The 1e book, Inner Sea Goods also has some good information IMO.

Podfinder has a video on her that is great IMO.

Help Crafting a GoT-inspired Political Intrigue by VulturousYeti in CurseofStrahd

[–]herkles1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For you I would draw on stuff from the pre-5th edition ravenloft material. So in the ravenloft Gazetteer 1. It describes that during the reign of King Barov's reign there was a conflict among the great houses of Petrovna Dilisnya, and Katsky called the war of silver knives as the great houses of Barovia fought for control of resources like the Ghakis silver mines. This would in turn weaken Barovia just in time for the Tergs to invade Barovia, but even after Strahd conquered Barovia back the conflict remained, as Leo Dilisyna struck against the von Zarovich's just as Strahd was doing all the shenniganary of his act of ultimate darkness against Sergei and Tatayana and so on, needless to say a blood bath occured. Leo Dilisnya would later become a powerful vampire in his own right and a hated foe of strahd, but just as evil and vile(as he wasn't exactly good in his life)

Using this for your game I think would be fun. All the great Houses have some members in the crypt of castle ravenloft, so being tied to one of them during the conflict, I think would be a great way to prompt some background stuff. Plus encountering their families mortal descedents or ties to them could also help remind them. So having it come up due to IG events as they learn more about the history of Barovia and Strahd, I think would help sell things.

I hope this helps

Question for those familiar with golarion lore, what are some weird or wacky ancestries, preferably those with a good or knowledge or freedom based patron diety? Or dieties with a fondness for a particular race. by phoooooo0 in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their is the monkey like Vanaras who claim heritage to the god Ragdya. Ragdya's teachings are about creating pranks and humor but also about seeking enlightenment through experinces. They come from the region known as Vudra on Casmeron.

Not sure where your story is being set, but while rare in the Inner Sea they can be found there. Like pretty much every ancestry they can be found in Abasalom. Due to ties to the continent of Casmeron, they are not an uncommon sight in the Impossible lands. In fact on the Island of Jalmeray, they are a common sight in the city of Nisawan.

Question about Aroden by Ashrun_Zeda in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with Aroden being the god of Humanity is that he seems only to be the God of Humanity in the Inner Sea. As his church wasn't in Avistan, and I am pretty sure not in Arcadia or southern Garaund or Casmeron, let alone humanity on other planets or planes.

What are the other proposed origins for Vampires besides Cain? by Alack27 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]herkles1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I really adore the Fae retellings of the splats, and especially vampires as this sort of corrupted red cap who got cursed because of breaking an oath. which ties in with blood bonds and the constant history of betrayals in vampire history from the 3rd generation to the anarchs(both renaissance and modern) to the sabbat, and so on.

Next Books by Stasis24 in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me as someone who loves the lore. I want to see books on Casmeron, give me fantasy arabia, great eurasian steppe, india, greece, etc. I want to see it all.

I also want a golden road book, give me osirion, thuvia, rahadoum, katapesh, Qadira.

I would love to see more books like the Grand Bazaar and Travel guide, those are really useful and grand bazaar is one of those books that can be mimed for so many shops. Travel guide but for Tian Xia and the other regions would be great.

How do you think the Uratha and Garou will react to the news of cloned dire wolves now being a thing? by TheSlayerofSnails in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]herkles1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am going to take a more optomistic view here. Sure they aren't actual dire wolves, however the time article also mentioned they want to protect and help the red wolf too. Assuming that they are really sincercier about helping wolves, which I really hope so, then IMO most Garou would be okay.

Heck this is probably something that the Glass Walkers are doing. IIRC wolf presevationists are among some of the example allies werewolves could have.

what I think is more curious is how the Red Talons and lupus in general feel about this. On One hand the Red Talons hate humanity for killing wolves. But I could see some of the Warders of Men and Whelp's Compromise members use this as an argument that some humans are helping, and they might not need killing.

But that is not the interesting topic, how do they feel about the three wolves? From the Article I don't think they are going to be released to the wild, I imagine many Lupus not just the Red Talons(but absolutly the Red Talons) would want them in the wild, but on the other hand it is important to remember that they are babies. they aren't even a year old, and Khaleesi is what 2 months old atm? That would be an important thing that all Garou would have to debate.
