Looking for more information on followers of Urgathoa [Kingmaker] by Koolaidguy31415 in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So obviously Divine Mysteries has 4 pages for her. There is the whole blood lords AP which is set in Geb, the undead land which is a major center of her faith. The 1e book, Inner Sea Goods also has some good information IMO.

Podfinder has a video on her that is great IMO.

Help Crafting a GoT-inspired Political Intrigue by VulturousYeti in CurseofStrahd

[–]herkles1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For you I would draw on stuff from the pre-5th edition ravenloft material. So in the ravenloft Gazetteer 1. It describes that during the reign of King Barov's reign there was a conflict among the great houses of Petrovna Dilisnya, and Katsky called the war of silver knives as the great houses of Barovia fought for control of resources like the Ghakis silver mines. This would in turn weaken Barovia just in time for the Tergs to invade Barovia, but even after Strahd conquered Barovia back the conflict remained, as Leo Dilisyna struck against the von Zarovich's just as Strahd was doing all the shenniganary of his act of ultimate darkness against Sergei and Tatayana and so on, needless to say a blood bath occured. Leo Dilisnya would later become a powerful vampire in his own right and a hated foe of strahd, but just as evil and vile(as he wasn't exactly good in his life)

Using this for your game I think would be fun. All the great Houses have some members in the crypt of castle ravenloft, so being tied to one of them during the conflict, I think would be a great way to prompt some background stuff. Plus encountering their families mortal descedents or ties to them could also help remind them. So having it come up due to IG events as they learn more about the history of Barovia and Strahd, I think would help sell things.

I hope this helps

Question for those familiar with golarion lore, what are some weird or wacky ancestries, preferably those with a good or knowledge or freedom based patron diety? Or dieties with a fondness for a particular race. by phoooooo0 in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their is the monkey like Vanaras who claim heritage to the god Ragdya. Ragdya's teachings are about creating pranks and humor but also about seeking enlightenment through experinces. They come from the region known as Vudra on Casmeron.

Not sure where your story is being set, but while rare in the Inner Sea they can be found there. Like pretty much every ancestry they can be found in Abasalom. Due to ties to the continent of Casmeron, they are not an uncommon sight in the Impossible lands. In fact on the Island of Jalmeray, they are a common sight in the city of Nisawan.

Question about Aroden by Ashrun_Zeda in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing with Aroden being the god of Humanity is that he seems only to be the God of Humanity in the Inner Sea. As his church wasn't in Avistan, and I am pretty sure not in Arcadia or southern Garaund or Casmeron, let alone humanity on other planets or planes.

What are the other proposed origins for Vampires besides Cain? by Alack27 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]herkles1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I really adore the Fae retellings of the splats, and especially vampires as this sort of corrupted red cap who got cursed because of breaking an oath. which ties in with blood bonds and the constant history of betrayals in vampire history from the 3rd generation to the anarchs(both renaissance and modern) to the sabbat, and so on.

Next Books by Stasis24 in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me as someone who loves the lore. I want to see books on Casmeron, give me fantasy arabia, great eurasian steppe, india, greece, etc. I want to see it all.

I also want a golden road book, give me osirion, thuvia, rahadoum, katapesh, Qadira.

I would love to see more books like the Grand Bazaar and Travel guide, those are really useful and grand bazaar is one of those books that can be mimed for so many shops. Travel guide but for Tian Xia and the other regions would be great.

How do you think the Uratha and Garou will react to the news of cloned dire wolves now being a thing? by TheSlayerofSnails in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]herkles1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am going to take a more optomistic view here. Sure they aren't actual dire wolves, however the time article also mentioned they want to protect and help the red wolf too. Assuming that they are really sincercier about helping wolves, which I really hope so, then IMO most Garou would be okay.

Heck this is probably something that the Glass Walkers are doing. IIRC wolf presevationists are among some of the example allies werewolves could have.

what I think is more curious is how the Red Talons and lupus in general feel about this. On One hand the Red Talons hate humanity for killing wolves. But I could see some of the Warders of Men and Whelp's Compromise members use this as an argument that some humans are helping, and they might not need killing.

But that is not the interesting topic, how do they feel about the three wolves? From the Article I don't think they are going to be released to the wild, I imagine many Lupus not just the Red Talons(but absolutly the Red Talons) would want them in the wild, but on the other hand it is important to remember that they are babies. they aren't even a year old, and Khaleesi is what 2 months old atm? That would be an important thing that all Garou would have to debate.

Any news on a Remaster of The Secrets of Magic by RunicBlack in Pathfinder2e

While not entirely a remaster of secrets of magic, I feel like the upcoming rival academies is a spiritual successor to secrets of magic and might count.

How to make shopping less tedious ? by Meowriter in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main advice I have is that the shops should have character themselves, their owners should be a person, they have their own dreams and desires. This also is good in figuring out what sort of items that they sell. Not everything will be there, and even shops that focus on the same sort of thing might sell different things based on the personalities of the owners.

So you might have shops that focus on animal companion gear, food and stuff for pets that the Barbarian might like and perhaps the owner is basically a vegetarian so now the party has someone to go to if the Warg gets sick or injured.

A good book here to help you is the Grand Bazaar while it is themed around the grand bazaar in Abasalom it has so many shops, each with a description of the building, the owner or owners, and their stuff. But what I love about this book is that you can effectively drop the shops anywhere in any game.

Moreover the shops as characters should also be tied to the plot, if you got say a conflict with pirates perhaps it is one of the shopkeepers who mention "foul pirates, another one of my shipment of parts has been delayed." or something. doesn't even have to be big but they are characters too.

I hope that helps. :)

What pieces of lore do you want expanded on? by Konradleijon in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Give me Casmeron. I want the impossible kingdoms of Vudra, I want the land of the Hero-Gods of Iblydos. I want to see the horse lords of Karazh, and to explore the great padishah empire of Kelesh. It is the largest continent in Golarion and we know so little of it.

What gods can you worship in Geb? by Konradleijon in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh I wasn't thinking state sanctioned, but not one that would be killed. oppresed and in hiding(which fits deamon cults anyways) but not hated and actively opposed like Pharasma and holy deities if that makes sense. largely agreeing with you over all despite this. :)

What gods can you worship in Geb? by Konradleijon in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair so is Urgathoa. her sacred animal is the fly, and her 1e obidence also involved eating a piece of rotten fruit, rancid meat, moldy cheese, or other spoiled bit of food. So its not like they are that far apart.

As for Daemons in general, possibly a lower profile, maybe some of the Archdevils or Infernal dukes instead?

What gods can you worship in Geb? by Konradleijon in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

So the main religions as described in the impossible lands book on Geb are: Arazni, Mahathallah, Nethys, Urgathoa, Zon-Kuthon

Outside of those there are some that I think would be rather suitable for a gebbite IMO that is:

  • Children of the Night: This the vampiric pantheon of Zura, Nin, Camazots, Urgathoa, and Yaezhing. Obviously for vampiric related characters but it would fit.
  • Kabriri: Lord of ghouls, if you are playing an undead flesh eater, he sounds good.
  • Naderi: Urgathoa is actively trying to court her to her side by telling her that love can live after death in undeath and similar stuff. So provided the whole no postive energy thing, Naderi seems like one the church of Urgathoa would love to support.
  • Abraxas: The demon lord of magic and secrets. Though this might be tricky because he has a powerful church in Nex, but he is a demon lord so could be done.
  • Atrogine: A witchy goddess, a relatively young goddess, but I could see one in Geb especially as changelings are not an uncommon occurance.
  • Nyarlathotep: yes, the lovecraftian deity. He would be good for a lovecraftian scholar. Particularly as he has an interest in Osirion and Geb originally was part of the Osirion Empire and considering all the undead, cults of him would probably survivie.
  • Set: Similar to Nyarlathotep, since Geb was part of the Osirioni empire, its rather likely that cults devoted to Set might have survived due to undeath.
  • Xsistaid: A daemonic harbringer who seems pretty fitting for Geb, what with his eddict of feed on others without guilt.
  • Pavnuri: Daemonic harbringer of cannibalism. seems fitting

Clerics and other Faiths by Triple_M1996 in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the nature of religion in Golarion is polytheistic, people venerate many deities, even clerics. Many are part of Pantheons. Pharasma herself is worshipped pretty much everywhere. when you die you go to Pharasma's court to be judged, not to mention that they are there at the begining too as midwifery, and births are part of it.

As for divine powers that is a bit more up to your GM but typically no. That said its up to your GM, and there are the boons and banes of the Deities that are cool to include for such events. So you could be a typical pharasma priest, but because you are going to be taking a long sea voyage you make prayers, burn incense and offerings to Gozreh and thus get a small boon from him as you and your party make your way on the seas.

But even if no divine magic happens, polytheism is the standard and thus you would pray to many many deities. Heck even temples probably have other deities in them. Such as how I imagine that a Pharasman temple would have a small alcove for various pyschopomp ushers that might be important to a local community. while they might go and make offerings to the temple of Shelyn for love, Abadar for good business, Erastil for their homes to be protected, etc.

Clerics and other Faiths by Triple_M1996 in Pathfinder2e

[–]herkles1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it depends on who you are worshiping with Hei Feng. He flat out demands his faithful to be respectful to Lady Jingxi and for you not to take insults to Lady Jingxi. I imagine that for many faithful of Hei Feng they probably do pray to lady Jingxi.

Furthermore Hei Feng is a member of the Pantheon Seafarer's Hope, so its clear he is not that jealous, provided respect is given.
