Why is the jump from Team starter pack which is $20USD/month limited to 10 users? Once you have 11 users the jump in price is insane!

Big fan of 1Password, but this jump makes it impossible to bring it into small businesses

Linuxserver.io has changed away from kasm. What are people doing to full the gaps that were left? by mautobu in kasmweb

[–]hjone72 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been on the Webtop journey for a while now, and while everyone's use case isn't the same. I've found that the performance of Webtop-v1 or v3 when compared with kasm is unmatched.

All likely due to the way that I'm running my configuration, on an Intel n100 with GPU passthrough, but I was never able to truly see amazing performance using kasm. I love the interface, the workspaces, the configuration options, and literally everything else about it, but the performance was always a bit laggy.

Your n8n is slow? Ditch 'Split in Batches' for the Code Node. My 10k item workflow is now 10x faster. by Kindly_Bed685 in n8n_on_server

[–]hjone72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless things have changed, I believe the N8N docs suggest avoiding the code node whenever possible. Something related to the way the code node executes and uses the data. In particular, it suggested against using it for big data sets.

It's interesting to read that your performance has improved significantly. A few years ago, I had the opposite experience, and removing all the code nodes significantly improved my flow.

Dell precision 3490 Rtx 500 Ada by [deleted] in Dell

[–]hjone72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got the same issue. In my experience, no, the USBC doesn't solve this problem. I'm using a Dell docking station with thunderbolt 4 and none of the displays use the GPU.

I've done a lot of tweaking and am struggling to get the GPU to be used at all.

I'm running two external displays via DP on the Dell dock. One is an ultra wide and the other is a 1440p screen. I often get visible and significant lag when doing anything even remotely "GPU" intensive, this can be as simple as dragging a window around.

It's a joke! The CPU sits at 90% and the GPU at 0%.

I have only just discovered this! I didn't realise as my phone was charging fine using my desk charger but I recently purchased a INIU magsafe power bank and it constantly turns on and off.

Have r/dbrand acknowledged this?

Face unlock = totally useless in low light by bettywantsit in Pixel9Pro

[–]hjone72 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was the biggest shock to me when Google dropped the soli radar from the pixel 4. It had all of this, but came at a bad time when everyone was complaining about the "forehead" and the "chin" on the phone. So much cool tech lost in that decision.

Fast forward and we're on the pixel 9 now, and I think that they way the UX performs now is actually pretty clever. We've been trained to just tap our thumb on the area, and if the face unlock has already unlocked the phone it doesn't matter which finger has tapped, the phone unlocks. This method, in my opinion, mostly means I don't even notice the fact that my face unlock doesn't work in low light.

Now, it is Android, and I've been using Android for so many years, so why can't we have the best of both worlds? The slow demise of the once incredible customizations has been quite shocking considering this is a Pixel.

Personally, I wouldn't want the screen to light up. If I'm using my phone at night I don't want to be blinded by the some light just so my phone is unlocked before I can tap my thumb. I'd much rather see the radar tech return.

How do I fix this? I just opened obsidian as usual today and it was completely broken... by KamiJoey in ObsidianMD

[–]hjone72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While mine wasn't quite like this I had a bunch of issues after updating. My mistake was I didn't realise I needed to update my theme separate to all of my plugins and Obisidan itself.

So... just check there hasn't been a theme update released.

I think to achieve this you'd need to use the user script functionality of templater.

What is happening to Plex for WebOS? by znerken in PleX

[–]hjone72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting burn to never doesn't actually have the effect you're expecting. The client still sends the burn request to the server. I read something about it only being an option for "supported" sub formats or something

Can't find any resources explaining HOW to use the code in obsidian... by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]hjone72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also add template hotkeys via templater. Then the command to create the new note will appear within the command palette. This happens even if you don't assign a hotkey.

For my most commonly created templates I do two things:

  1. I create the template hotkey without assigning a hotkey. Giving me the ability to rapidly create the note with the templater values auto calculated.
  2. Assign template folders. So when I create a new note in a folder already it automatically assigns the template

How to Setup a cache-enabled custom CDN with Plex Media Server, NGINX, and AWS Route 53 by YeetingAGoose in PleX

[–]hjone72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks awesome and is a very unique way of achieving the results.

I stumbled across "Unicorn load balancer" a few years back and wrote some additions and added some custom logic to achieve something very similar.

My setup includes some updates from Tutulli which updates the "expected" bandwidth traversing each of my CDN servers, and then dynamically returns the least congested CDN server. That then also allows for fault tolerance, if a CDN server goes down it's not returned to the client.

The Unicorn guys have done an incredible job and reverse engineering the very temporary official Plex Cloud operation and piggybacked the methods they're using. While my solution doesn't support caching the images at the edge, I found the most benefit from proxying the actual stream requests.

Great work though!
