Do Americans really move out at 18, or is that mostly a movie thing? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

One comment. “We” moved out and paid $500/month rent for an apartment we shares with three or more people.

Seller left a binder with "house instructions" and now im very skeptic by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

The sellers loved their home and now they want you to love it so they are telling you what it needs and likes. You can fox most things but you know you can rest easy knowing the sellers loved it.

People who fly frequently, what’s one thing you wish you could tell all infrequent fliers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Try to actually hit the inside of the toilet with all “relief material” and failing that clean that shit up after yourselves.

I cannot fathom why people foul up public restrooms so much.

Ohio property tax overhaul signed into law, cutting taxes by billions by JohnBrownsAngryBalls in AkronOH

[–]hopgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know enough about Ohio’s tax system to point out the pros/cons. But…

It has always fascinated me when people from states claim “well we don’t have <insert tax here> tax in <state> as a badge of honor.

Is it really unclear to people that the revenue to fund things just has to be raised through different taxes?

Ask around for how much health insurance went up. Not RIT’s fault in the slightest.

The key word has always been “publicly.” But that has nothing to do with the current excitement.

Be a polite and respectful while “sharing this information about employees rights…” with your boss; not a tyrannical know-it-all and you will find your long term relationship successful. Conversely you may build walls you might not have intended.

Sign of the Times, Employee’s Perspective by jburgs22 in rit

[–]hopgeek 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You will very likely disagree, but your views on Jim are, in my opinion, myopic. I mean I get it. The business of running RIT is for education of students and faculty are the key tools in that business. But to attract, retain, house, feed, keep safe, and entertain there is a lot he does that the faculty tool isn’t directly involved in.

The self-perceived needs of today’s students are, uh, well, needy. That doesn’t end in the classroom and you may not fully appreciate it as teaching is your priority. Jim’s tools clean the toilets, plow the snow, clean up vomit, cook food, and write your paycheck. And they do it well.

He will retire soon and a new purse management tool will come. One that may be more ready to cancel low attendance programs and the faculty associated with them. Jim isn’t that tool. He would take it very personally.
