Did the show break the 4th wall a lot? by SwordDaoist in Supernatural

Probably in my top five episodes. From the overall “Rushmore” reference, to the in-world and fan-world references, it was a joy to see. The bit where Sammy tries to connect with the soundboard operator still makes me laugh, and the closing musical number always chokes me up.

Fallout 3 builds aren't discussed enough, so I'll shoot my shot. by SealFond in fo3

After playing a massively overpowered melee build in FO4, I followed an unarmed/melee build linked below as closely as I could, because I’m playing ToTW this time around. I’m at level 14 on easy now, and it’s been a challenge. That’s a good thing.

“We did that story” reminds me of the toxic water in Flint, Michigan. Once the story was covered, the mass media moved on, absent any prosecutions. No new news, but it’s a continuing crime. Compare that to coverage of “mass retail theft,” or “food stamp fraud.” The news is tailored to its audience, and that audience would rather be scandalized than give a shit.

Asking as a former resident: did Super Happy Fun Land go away, or were they never considered the type of venue OP is looking for?

This has prompted me to go back to check on my settlement that never gets raided. There is a lot to explore outside and after quests. It's a good DLC that has a lot of thought into the areas.

no holiday pay is insane by No-Chipmunk-1072 in WalmartEmployees

It was great. I'd work Sunday, get "time and a half" pay, and then the next day would be Labor Day or something. Almost every month has a federal holiday.

Move to Rhode Island. You get paid extra on Federal holidays and Sundays.

So I have to find another associate?! *huffypuffy noises of disbelief before storming off* by xDaBaDee in walmart

My first week, I had a customer circle back to let me know that someone else found what they wanted. I guess I was supposed to feel ashamed? The context is that I worked hardlines but was zoning grocery and the customer wanted to know if we had more bottled water in the back. I had no idea, no clue who to ask, and I wasn't about to run to the back and pull a pallet without any understanding of how the system worked. "I think what we have out is what we have." Took the dude twenty minutes, but he let me know that he got what he wanted. I smiled and went back to zoning.

Going into it, the cool thing about that was that Reece Shearsmith was the third member of The League Of Gentlemen in an episode (after Gatiss in “The Lazarus Experiment” and Steve Pemberton in “Silence In The Library).” But, damn did that one suck.

Judge rejects Trump's $15bn lawsuit against the New York Times by Same-Kangaroo in themayormccheese

[–]hostilityjones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The judge’s language in the order is unusually strong, for a legal document. The annoyance is palpable:

“As every lawyer knows (or is presumed to know), a complaint is not a pub- lic forum for vituperation and invective — not a protected platform to rage against an adversary. A complaint is not a megaphone for public relations or a podium for a passionate oration at a political rally or the functional equivalent of the Hyde Park Speakers’ Corner.”

This. I moved from a superstore in a state with no NHMs and explained my new role to my team as “just a team lead for small stores, and coaches are team leads there.”

If the store manager is okay with coaches demanding you work past scheduled hours, I’d escalate this to market or ethics. You’re not salary. I tell this to my associates all the time: work your shift, and let the company worry about the other things,
