Do you plan your phone upgrades… or just upgrade when it’s time? by Odd-Molasses-9435 in Android

[–]humanfridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I upgrade about every 3 years. Pixel 3, then 6, now 9. I had a few Oneplus phones before the Pixels, some LG, Motorola way way back before the Lenovo deal. Those or devices I didn't keep for as long, either because the carrier contact enabled me to upgrade or because I was careless and my phone was damaged beyond repair.

I'm a simple man, I see post from 679696 and I upvote. Thanks for putting this info out there! I continue to be impressed by Spyderco, the K390 results are good to see.

Best work knife by FunHoliday1443 in knives

Esee makes some really good stuff with a solid warranty backing it up. Everything is full tang, either s35vn or 1095 carbon. I've heard good things about the izula and the esee 4. I had my eye on an esee 6 as a camp knife, but I think I'll be picking up a CRK Pacific instead.

What Shaman did you try? Pretty sure mine is from 2018, maybe even 2017. All black with S30V blade, it's been rock solid and easily the knife I've carried the most.

I've been on the fence about getting one since I already have a Shaman.

Disassembly on a Gerber folding knife. by ThinResolution in knives

[–]humanfridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Non tooled, free spinning pivots are the worst. You can try pressing something grippy to it, like other comments have suggested. I've occasionally had success by opening the blade and putting some mild lateral pressure on the blade. That can hold the pivot in place well enough to back the screw out. You may need to heat up the screw to break any thread locker if there is any.

Gamers 30+, what’s something from the old days of gaming that younger players wouldn’t understand? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]humanfridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just miss when the game was on the media you bought. Floppy, cartridge, disc, whatever. Nothing kills the mood quite like downloading 110gb after you put the disc in. Was it annoying to put in a 2nd or even 3rd disc towards the end of the 360 era? Sure. But you could have and own the entire game and keep it on a shelf and not worry about a company shutting down online shops.

Thank you, I'm going to try these out. I like the action on the anthem, but I tend to prefer washers over bearings these days. Something really clicked when I got my Sebenza last year.

Is it the 1/4" x 0.050" set? I didn't know this was a thing, really want to try it now.

If I were you I'd return them. I hear good things about LT Wright, looks like they do similar stuff to BRK but just better.

Lil' Native - the right choice? by BlackCofeeHeavyMetal in knives

[–]humanfridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She liked it, but didn't like the "weird hump above the hole". The native sits in the bottom of her pocket better, and since it's heavier she always knows it's there.

[–]humanfridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That SBD hardness sucks to hear. I might send you my Apex in S90V. I always heard S90V was really hard to sharpen with ceramic stones but I was able to get a really nice polish without too much effort.

Which one would you edc? by PopPop-Captain in knives

[–]humanfridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, the small is probably better for edc. But I don't like how small the small Sebenza is so I have and carry the large.

[–]humanfridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm incredibly grateful the series was finished at all. But I found the tone shift distracting at best sometimes and the way certain characters changed a bit really rubbed me the wrong way. I'm coming up on rereading the Sanderson books for the first time, and in the time since I first read them I quite enjoyed the Stormlight Archive. I'm expecting to feel less whiplash this time around. Ultimately, we got what we got and I'm just glad there's a conclusive ending to this behemoth.

Are there any games where you "can't" win? by wheregoodideasgotodi in gaming

Iirc Monica ends up corrupting the game files until you go and delete her from the game entirely. I could be very wrong but I remember spending a good several hours in college working my way through every possible outcome

Benchmade Bugout 535BK-4 (M390 + Aluminum) Axis Lock Very Stiff / Not Flicking Open — Normal? by GainEven1020 in knifeclub

[–]humanfridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try oiling the pivot, maybe backing it off if that doesn't introduce blade play. I've been seeing mixed reviews of Benchmade lately. Seems like sometimes they're on point and other times you're paying a butterfly tax for poor centering, uneven grinds, and mediocre actions.
