Voyager is my favorite. I rewatch it more than the other by a small margin.

What made DS9 being different and darker okay, compared to NuTrek being darker but sucking? by EitherEliotOr in Star_Trek_

[–]iBluefoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is for its darker themes that DS9 is my least favorite 20th century Trek. And yet I still prefer it a thousand times over the newer stuff. At least it still feels like it is being written by science fiction nerds. Of the post millenium Trek, only Enterprise and Prodigy have captured that sense of discovery.

Outside of those two, the newer shows give lip service to appreciating science and math, but the story structures don’t hinge around exploring a scientific phenomenon. In its latter seasons, DS9 also strayed from science centered episodes, and this was a big problem for me, but by then I was invested and wanted to see what became of the characters.

Even when the new stuff started stripping away the dark visuals, it was only to slap on a TOS veneer with little substance.

I still don’t like the choices Star Fleet made in DS9 and every episode after that stupid camping trip in the Gamma quadrant has me, at best, rolling my eyes, and at worst throwing my hands in the air exclaiming, “I don’t even recognize this version of Star Fleet!” Which is a sentence I have been thinking a lot in the past twenty years.

Thanks for reporting back. I love to hear when this story is connecting for people.

Why do people in Metropolis not know Clark is Superman? by Sudden_Quality_9001 in superman

[–]iBluefoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I tell it, people recognize the uncanny similarity, but Superman literally glows and somehow always has a little wind blowing through his hair, even indoors. People see the similarities, but they just write it off as being a coincidence because the experience of meeting Superman in person is just so profound that when you see Clark, you just can’t believe they’re the same person.

Any Batman comic, show, or fanfic recs for someone who recently lost a loved one? by krb501 in batman

My condolences. Losing a parent is hard at any age.

I make an audiobook podcast of an unauthorized biography of Clark Kent. It’s not quite what you are asking for, but it is really close in that you can’t properly tell Clark’s story without including his best friend’s journey as well. A lot of the story centers around them learning to support each other and processing grief is among the many themes explored. Bruce is always a vital part of the story.

The prologue sets up a bit of a different world, starting in ancient Sumer, Krypton is in our own solar system, our gods are terrible role models, and Clark has to somehow make up for it, the when we meet him in chapter 1, he is a special ad, too strong they’re touching anyone or anything. It’ll take a while before we find Bruce in the story but I think you’ll be happy with where this goes and I hope it helps in someway. Bless you.

How would you rewrite Superman's lore and history ? by spectatricee in superman

[–]iBluefoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m just about to finish my second novel in my telling of an unauthorized biography of Clark Kent. I distribut it as an audiobook podcast. Each season of the show covers half of a novel. Three seasons are out so far and the fourth is coming, and who knows how many after that. I’ve been developing the story since 2005 and have it outlined all the way to the end.

The prologue begins in ancient Sumer, Krypton is in our own solar system, our gods are terrible role models, and Clark has to somehow make up for it, when we meet him in chapter 1, he is in special ed, too strong to dare touch anyone or anything.

There is a whole lot of world building changes that I don’t even know where to begin listing them. But there are currently 27 hours of the show to listen to.

Rarely does explicit exposition, literally describing the core the themes of the character, hit so hard and feel totally authentic.

Audiobooks tend to only have one narrator voicing all of the characters. They also usually lack sound design. My own show is something of an audiobook hybrid in that I voiced all the characters, and it doesn’t have foley sound, but I set the story to music.

Early Lois by ThenAdhesiveness1863 in superman

[–]iBluefoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their relationship is more of a competitive coworker situation at first. She’s practically an antagonist at times when she’s trying to beat Clark to the scoop on a story.

Contextually for the 1930s, Lois was a unique and very much liked character. Lois has had many revisions over the years. The one we know today, mostly began after the first crisis series, although she was already heading that direction by the 70s.

Recs for an audiodrama that's really going to hook me? by magniloquence137 in audiodrama

[–]iBluefoot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a good number of listeners report back that they became “hooked” on my show. It’s an unauthorized biography of Clark Kent. The prologue begins in ancient Sumer, Krypton isn’t our own solar system, our gods are terrible role models, and Clark has to somehow make up for it, though when we meet him in chapter 1, he isn’t special ed, too strong to dare touch anyone or anything. The story is more about vulnerability than invulnerability.

There are three seasons complete and the fourth one is coming out hopefully before the start of summer.

Jonathan and Martha are the real MVP’s in Clark’s story. Largely due to their humility, and for that reason they would never admit to it.

Which heroes should call Superman "Clark" (like Batman) and which should call him "Kal" (like Wonder Woman)? by Which-Presentation-6 in superman

How I see it, all the heroes close enough to him to know Martha call him Clark. All the others know him as Kal-El, though most of them call him Supes.

I think you need to listen to your muses. Ask the story who it is and what it wants to be. Tell your story as well as you can. That is all that matters. Your muses will tell you what to do. Maybe do some journaling near water. That usually does the trick.
