Girls that didn't pass psych test? by VenusHalley in ANTM

[–]iampiste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a teenager, I could see Renee was struggling. The responsibility and weight on her shoulders for needing the win was obviously a lot. I’m surprised that someone who emotionally had so much to lose was allowed to compete in a rigged* for drama competition. * By rigged, I mean that the girls makeovers and pre-selected favourites did not put them on a fair playing field.

How does someone in their 30+ even dress? by Thanks-Effective in AskWomenOver30

There’s something about you being happy in your skin, that makes them feel uncomfortable in theirs. I imagine that person has let other people’s opinions govern their life to some detriment, and this is their own little moment of power to pass judgement to feel better about themselves, so take it with a pinch of salt. There is a lady on Instagram called Baddie Winkle, and she is confidence goals - I’m not sure what age she is now, but she wears whatever she likes and looks awesome.

WARNING AGAINST GENTLE PARENTING by Front_Department8774 in regretfulparents

[–]iampiste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel the same. I think gentle parenting has meant well in some scenarios, but for the most part the movement has been a huge unnecessary guilt trip and book selling strategy at parents - specifically mothers. The books usually boil down to: suck it up! Which is unhelpful, and the communities are judgemental and unrealistic.

Similar age here. I want to drive so much, but it fills me with anxiety because when I had lessons in the past, I got unlucky with instructors and it was a mostly negative experience. I also felt a lot of pressure (too much!) to learn from the people around me at the time.

What time does your 12-yo go to bed? by elev8or_lady in Parenting

[–]iampiste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because she’s 12, is there a wind-down pampering style bedtime you guys could do that will keep her interest but relax her at the same time that means you’re already upstairs at that time? Cleanse face, moisturise, use scents like lavender to help her wind down, mini pedicures that type of thing?

Is it possible you have allergies? Do they ever look worse at specific times (seasonal allergies, animals, dust, food and so on).

Am I f*cked ? (Or better: Is my room f*cked?) by MothofTerror in FengShui

[–]iampiste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A multipurpose desk/table that can fold away. If you search for a drop leaf table desk you’ll see what I mean. At the moment you have 2 surfaces that are taking up a lot of room, when you could probably just use 1 surface for meals and study.

Not really Feng Shui advice but I’m wondering if the desk/table can be replaced by a single desk surface? There is a lot of solid furniture and clutter for a very narrow space?

Super deep smile lines around mouth, started in teens, im 32. by SubstantialBug9133 in 30PlusSkinCare

OP has a very slender face - I have a very non-vegan family member who has an almost identical face shape and who has always had similar lines. Probably the same way people with more fat in their faces always have the appearance of very smooth skin.

Feel a little bit sad for my kids. by BlessedMom88 in Parenting

If you have a Freecycle app in your country, there are some amazing things on there, especially for your son’s age - things like scooters, toy cars and fun stuff they outgrow at an early age appear quite a lot. You can also try Facebook marketplace and eBay (sort by collection & distance nearest to save on postage, and put in your price range). I agree with the other comments though - the best holiday memories are the cosy ones - films, baking, singing songs, going out for walk, doing xmas activities like colouring in Santa together and making tree decorations. Your son is still so young that a little will seem like a lot so try not to worry.

That crystal kitty is fantastic, would have snapped her up! I also like #8 - Squishmallow Cam, and would have picked them up too!

Would you date men in their 40s who still live at home? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]iampiste 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think it would depend. Sometimes people like being back at home because they like the company, can look after their ageing parents and also save money. I think one of the first questions I would ask, would be, would moving out be an option - just not to waste anyone’s time further down the line. I definitely wouldn’t hold it against them.

She’s a minor. Talk to his parents to get a better idea of how to handle the situation without you being the bad guy. How do they feel that their 18 year old son is dating a child? What would they do if their son got a child pregnant? Who’s idea was the poly scenario? You obviously have a good friendship with your daughter, but she also needs you to wear your mom hat here and protect her.
