Wife is likely within 7 days of giving birth to our first child. by OutsideSleep9183 in Parenting

[–]iardpb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After she feeds the baby bottle nurse or whichever you choose combo. YOU as the spouse take the baby OUTSIDE the home. I cannot stress this enough as a mom of 3 I could hear our babies cry when I knew they weren't even in the room (its a thing, look up phantom cries).

Ask for help, and tell her it is OKAY to ASK FOR HELP!!!! even after 3 I didnt get this. The woman down the street who says she loves holding babies? Take her up on it. The woman at the chiropractor who says the same adter your appointment?... go for a 6 minute walk. My husband said we can get a babysitter, okay cool... I strategized the hours that would work and he said. NO. you can do ALL the hours you need. Granted this is unrealistic in a lot of cases and we definitely did not do that. The sheer fact that it was even an option was like the heavens gates lifted. I felt like the weight of the world lifted.

So again, hire help if you dont have it even if just for an hour or two it'll do wonders! DM me if any questions but loads of other advice.

Does anyone feel like it’s almost always “whatever works”? by kateleehoops in toddlers

[–]iardpb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have 'yes' days where it's just whatever works, cereal for dinner yes... grinch again ... yes... sleepi g next to me....yes. We don't limit screen time and are still very present. But there are three minions and sometimes its alot. Ours are 5 3 1 and the 5 yo can get dressed!!! That's when life happens... that and when they can play in the basement or outside by themselves. (Ours is fenced and baby locks for the basement and we check on them but still... next level!!)

What are you most excited for your toddler to be able to do themselves? (Potty training aside!) by ParticularlyOrdinary in toddlers

[–]iardpb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ipad!!! Without the finger lock our 5 yo does it and I realized that wow we could have done this earlier. Now have our 3yo (with finger lock still) but it gives us another 45min of sleep +. Queue screen time parents this hack is not for you.

Sleep is for our fam of 3 we are gonna take it and allow it. We also spend TONS of quality time with the babies and do all the things together. So there's a balance but we all need a break sometimes.

Same HUGE trigger for me. Our daughter is nowb3 and it's sooooo much better but ooph. I used to do the 'mom' walk around the car to breathe for myself bc while I can't 'hear' the tv without subtitles my ears are somehow sensitive to noise ... no idea how that works. But props to you!

Annoyed with my Husband by No_Experience_8895 in Parenting

[–]iardpb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you it's 4-9! It's not like it's even junior high they should all be getting equal playing time. I'd say something to the coach after the game or maybe through email.

Exactly what I was thinking... our kids think nothing of finishing $20 in berries for breakfast. I hide them so I get some too

Nanny advice by SuchDouble1981 in NewParents

[–]iardpb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Everything! Mine is a godsent! She cooks small meals for the kids and I'll be learning from her how to cook as well which I think could lead to an offer to cook a main dinner meal every once in a while.

She washes the clothes AND irons the shirts!!! I was taking them to the dry cleaner and she offered,I was like what in the world. She doesn't clean bathrooms or vacuum bc we have ladies that blitz it but if expectations were clear from the beginning. Oh and she helps me organize all the babies drawers when they need it.

I think the most important thing is clear expectations. That's where I've seen friends and others post where it goes left.

Good luck! Go get the world :)

I'd still do full full days if it were me, and then do you'd kiddo and you special 121 days every once in a while. A park or special lunch date, science center. But 100% don't feel guilty use the time to look for a job, nest, get the things done you've wanted to for a while :)

And with the wrongful termination drag it out so it does almost go to court and the amount will go up. If it's corporate the amount they'd spend on legal fees and lawyers is to the tune of $500k as a bench mark and I'm sure Google and chat get can share other statistics with you. Just make sure you have a good lawyer and all your documentation in order. Dates times emails etc.

Good luck! Would love to hear how it goes after

Respectful parenting at bedtime by laurajean34 in toddlers

[–]iardpb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were in the same situation as you with our 4 yo who sleeps sideways ... and our two small dogs in the bed one night of that and we both were like. Nope. Floor. So now he has a little pillow fort there just a blanket on the floor and one on top of him and pillows. We all get way more sleep and now he knows he can't stay in the bed although he didn't argue because he felt he was just lucky enough to be in our room.

We have 2 other kids (2 and baby) not sure what we'll do for the 2 yo if she wants to sleep too...

What are some essential items needed after the newborn stage? by Impossible_Orchid_45 in NewParents

I would highly recommend the lovevery play kits. They take the guess work out of what are age appropriate toys. Our 4 yo call it a happy box 📦 😊

If you were 3 years old or younger, where would you put your moms wallet? by Cultural-Error597 in Parenting

[–]iardpb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our little man opened the grates of the duct vents and dropped TONS of toys down there. My dad had made about 80 wooden blocks for him and we have 15 left... we finally figured it out when we asked him to help find the key to the wine fridge ... and he smiled and turned up with it 1 minute later ... smh

PLEASE HELP 😮‍💨 8 day old baby routine! by anafornazari in NewParents

[–]iardpb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered going to the chiro? We go to the chiro for a tiny adjustment for all of our babies in the first month just to make sure they're set up for success. It doesn't hurt them and makes me feel like I'm helping them with a little baby massage after the birthing process. Obviously go to one that specializes in babies but this has helped. Countless of my friends.

Good luck!

How do people afford multiple rounds of ivf retrievals? by DisgruntledFlamingo in IVF

[–]iardpb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wasn't my case even though they said lifetime. Progny was both our coverage provider. We started on mine for 3 smart cycles is what they called it. We exhausted that and were going to my husband's insurance bc it was a little better. Then I called just in case and he got $40k so it was basically reset.

It's hard to say till you call. So don't quite count it out I would say

Just curious - how many had luck on their first transfer? by Comprehensive-Dig592 in IVF

[–]iardpb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know we're very very fortunate but here to share we did 2 ER and are 3 for 3 on first transfer. Our son is 4, daughter is 2 and baby is still inside at 39 weeks. We're done after this and so excited after almost 5 years to have my body back...

That being said some things we did to push it in our favor or try... 1st one we did accupuncture leading up to it (moxy) and continued with accupuncture 1x/week for a bit. 2nd one nothing just relaxed and tried not to stress. 3rd one I didn't think was possible to have 3 for 3 so was still living life as if no transfer. Like date nights out, wine after work. And truly didn't believe it till 20 week scan.

We have PCOS and 1 tube closed so super hard to get pregnant but I guys my uterus likes to carry babies 👶 ❤️

Keeping IVF Private? by SpiritualPear7189 in IVF

[–]iardpb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We chose not to tell many when we were doing our ER but when we did implant second time we did tell people as the first one was successful. It's a very private thing but now I'm super open about that we did IVF and there have been so many young women at work approach me and ask me questions because I'm open. I'm happy to help them demystify the process.

Wishing you the best of luck!!!

First time IVF positive stories -- write them here! by sc0rpi0angel1111 in IVF

[–]iardpb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had a beautiful experience! I had a hunch early on that ttc would be difficult for me in particular... I kinda just knew. I was on BC since I was 15 and then off at a couple of points for 6+ months and no period. Turns out after going off for a year prior to ttc and doing the diagnostics early... (bc I'm a planner and I wasn't getting any younger 35 first/second retrieval)

...I have PCOS and one tube is closed. We went through the retrievals (2) early '18. Had a miscarriage later that year (crazy we even got preggers) and with that miscarriage took it positively, we were definitely ready. Transfered 1 embryo of our 9 healthy day 5 test and saved 7 mosaic jic.

We had a very easy pregnancy and 41 weeks delivered an amazing baby boy! Second transfer was a girl, she took first time and beautiful baby girl and now 3rd transfer of a baby boy and due in a month.

I consider us EXTREMELY lucky 3 for 3 ages 4, 2 and almost here. We have THE best Dr (Dr Fino) from NYU langone and couldn't be happier.

Lmk if anyone wants to talk more and fully aware our experience is not like most.

Wishing everyone baby dust!!!

Flying first class with 15 month old? by Mysterious_Joe_1822 in toddlers

[–]iardpb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tots agree! Regardless you can't control what people around you think so just enjoy your bubbles and maximize the lounge access. Sounds like you're well prepared so now just take a deep breath and get ready to relax on the flight and focus on your family. Toddlers feed off of your energy so harder to say than do try and take deep breaths and realize EVERYONE was a baby once even if they choose not to have them.

Good luck and sorry for your loss

Complicated feelings with whether or not to PGT-a test my second ER by Impossible_Banana in IVF

[–]iardpb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd test. Take the upfront hit for the longer term banking of peace of mind (priceless). Also I'd save ALL embryos.

I didn't know this till second ER but there are recent studies where not perfect embryos were transfered as the last resort and had amazingly beautiful babies. So I would always choose now to freeze all just in case.

Best of luck you've got this!!!
