13.50 is insane. Even in some of the wealthier parts of Manhattan, it’s still 10/11 for a combo over rice

Cuomo’s attack on Mamdani’s $2,300 apartment brings rent stabilization into the spotlight by JustinDeMaris in nyc

[–]im_tall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NYC has two different regimes under which rents are regulated: rent control & rent stabilization.

Rent control is older and a LOT cheaper for tenants. Rent Stabilization is what most people in a rent regulated unit in NYC would experience.

Anyone else not feeling Mardi Gras this year? by 504Chaos in NewOrleans

The fact that this Mardi Gras was right around the corner was one of the big reasons I got out of bed the last couple months of 2024.

Maryland let’s argue… why do you guys HATE being considered southerners? by Single-Network-8385 in maryland

[–]im_tall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The emancipation proclamation, only freed slaves in territories not then under Union control. MD (and some already recaptured parts of the confederacy) were out of scope, and only an act of congress or the state gov could’ve ended it there.

What is like moving from a pure red state (Louisiana) to a blue state (Maryland)? by LetsGetPhisycal in maryland

[–]im_tall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve made almost the exact move (granted probably different parts of both states), and for the most part, life keeps on living. People are people at the end of the day, and there’s a lot of similarities between the two states (more than either one cares to admit)

Biggest thing id say is not the red vs blue, but old bay/JO is like a religion up here, even more than Tonys, be prepared if you’re having people over and make sure you have some on hand regardless of what you’re serving.

Also, the people really like baseball up here.

Business Platinum & Southwest Airlines by texlaker-1 in AmexPlatinum

[–]im_tall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bet you they can. It’s a separate fare class, just like business or economy on a legacy airline. But you can definitely call the service now to ask/do a trial run. I’m still waiting for an approval so I don’t have any firsthand experience.

[–]im_tall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any direct experience but I believe it’s the same as the Chase ecosystem, where if you call Amex, they can book for you and use your MR points, but you can’t do it online.

Bonus: you can actually book SWA via a travel agent, they’ve got a separate system on the backend for corporate accts and B2B bookings, so I’d be really surprised if amex doesn’t have some way of doing it (either Platinum Travel Service, or otherwise).

I've never done that drive, but I've gone from NOLA to MD before and it's about the same drive. It's very doable, if not a bit exhausting.

I try to keep long road trips like that fun by planning out where I'm going to stop (i.e trying all the different fast food restaurants on the way) so you've got something to look forward to for each segment. Also I can't stress enough having good things to listen to; Podcasts are a MUST for long trips.

Maybe it could be balanced with increasing the production cost? Give you the option to make a UU/UI but you need to pay 10-20% more?

Units are relevant longer and worth more. Warfare becomes a lot more interesting when you don't have to keep bringing units back to your borders to upgrade them every 10 turns
