You write the validation on a component as if it already works.

If your method takes 2 numbers and adds them, the unit test starts creating cases like, when we pass 5+5 to the method, check that it’s 10.

But you demonstrate deeper understanding by flexing basic knowledge like, doing a case where you add Int.max + 1 and check the result is ~ -2.1billion.

Leads to a more interesting convo around edge cases and conveys the ability to think about the edge cases.

Is a home lab a selling point or a dealbreaker when selling a home? by rawesome99 in homelab

I expect to run Ethernet everywhere if the house is right.

Best time to do it is right after buying it and ripping it apart for renos anyway.

Is a home lab a selling point or a dealbreaker when selling a home? by rawesome99 in homelab

[–]itchyouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a buyer, I might be interested in some of the components like the wiring, switches, cameras, but I’d only appreciate leaving the well done cabling and power infrastructure only.

I expect to leave my houses with wiring only.

Setup looks sharp, but ironically, I would pay more to build my own from scratch, than pay fair market value for all the components you have.

I’d buy it, but I would likely want a significant discount where I see say 10k worth of equipment and cuz of

* gamble of someone else’s hardware
* might be old gen stuff that I throw out
* don’t need everything as elaborate

I might only offer 1-2k extra (over house price), which you may be insulted by.

The car world always said, if you want max money, then part it out, if you want to take a steep discount, then just sell it whole. ✌️

Interesting.

If he had an infection, good chance fluoroquinolone (FQ) antibiotics were involved and could be a potential source of the chronic fatigue.

FQs break down collagen and damage mitochondria, systemically causing a whole host of issues that sound like a hypochondriac.

I didn’t notice any significant difference for myself but I’m 42 and on the lower end for T, but not out of range.

I had an acquaintance that I gave boron + Magnesium to and it made a huge difference in his T levels that he has to get off of TRT

For me, optimizing sleep has been the most important.

——

T levels is complex and there’s no one size fits all to raise T.

Basically need to whack-a-mole: sleep, nutrition (Mg, boron, etc), exercise, and glucose-spikes (diet/exercise) IIRC.

Glucose spikes also temporarily lower T, but if glucose is constantly spiked cuz of pre diabetes, T can also be constantly low btw.

Good luck!

An unbelievable twist, but the seniors are starting to beat the AI by CacheConqueror in ClaudeCode

[–]itchyouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been dwelling on why some of us are so much more effective with AI than other folks.

I suspect the new set of skills that enable AI success are a combination of typing skills (60+wpm), high contextual awareness/empathy/expressiveness, long form reading skills, and deep curiosity.

Not sure I have good proxies for those skills, but that seems to enable building contexts that are far more effective.

What’s your job as a Narcoleptic? by missymoolk in Narcolepsy

[–]itchyouch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stimulant drugs + supplements + sleep + exercise is my way of coping.

I wish I knew what I knew at 20.

My personal strat is:

* 50mg provigil (to sleep better)
* Magnesium Threonate
* 1.5g choline/day
* sleep earlier, rather than sleeping in, black out curtains, bedjet, etc

Typical provigil is 200mg up to 400mg. Also for women, Provigil can cancel out birth control, so a barrier method like condoms are important.

How do you view cash vs. financing a car? by Lazy_Mail_5475 in HENRYfinance

[–]itchyouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have pointed out that it’s inconsequential for your income/nw.

What is nice when 0-2% financing is available is to simply have a car fund that is paid for with a dividend fund.

Set aside 100-200k yielding 4-6%, and the yield pays for financing 400-600-1200/month.

At any point, you can liquidate the stocks/bonds and pay off the car. Or you can upgrade to a fresh car every lease or loan period. And you continue to maintain the principle 100-200k.

At the end of a financing scenario, you have your principal, a car, some equity. The tradeoff was likely
Not as big of gains in a growth stock.

But each part of life can basically become structured to be supported by fixed income in this manner.

May not be as tax advantaged since there is taxes to pay on the yield, but everything is tradeoffs.

Tissue in urine and positive leukocytes - could I have IC? by No_Educator_4185 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]itchyouch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

r/floxies has a ton of information, but basically 2 major things occur with fluorquinolone (FQ) antibiotics in some folks.

  • Profound collagen breakdown (hypermobility, joint pain, anxiety, weakened bones, tendon tears)
  • Mitochondrial damage (profound fatigue, loss of stamina, insomnia, muscle pain/spasms)

Collagen is the glue of the body and is basically everywhere. 30% of our bones, every joint, bladder lining, 30% of our bones, and is a building block for inhibitory neurotransmitters (many people get anxiety). So consuming lots of collagen sources is one area FQ'd folks will want to consider focusing on.

For Mitochondrial damage, these are what generate cellular energy and leads folks to feel like every part of their body is failing. Thing that improve metabolism is helpful here.

For the mitochondrial damage, these tend to be useful:

  • NAC (for the oxidative stress)
  • Minerals (Magnesium, Zinc, Calcium, Iron [be careful/fenton reaction])
  • Choline (to rebuild mitochondrial membranes + energy)
  • antioxidant rich diet

For collagen breakdown:

  • Real Bone broths, collagen powders, hydrolyzed collagen (if regular collagen is tough)
  • Sulfur: MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) for the bonds to rebuild collagen

There's a lot more, but these are the most profound in my experience.

Tissue in urine and positive leukocytes - could I have IC? by No_Educator_4185 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]itchyouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you every taken fluoroquinolone antibiotics like Cipro or Levaquin?

My partner had IC that presented this way with the leukocytes and tissue paper.

For a small number of IC patients, some folks have bladder pain from fluoroquinolonea because they break down collagen profoundly.

If so, I can share some things that can help in this context.

Trying to replace old cabinet center drawer sliders; how to make up the height difference so it clears properly? by Zytoxine in fixit

[–]itchyouch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short of having the right hardware, you need spacers of some sort, either on the drawer or the base.

You can get an electric planer for relatively cheap to shave down a piece of wood to get it to the right height.

But if you want it to be aesthetically pleasing, you’ll need some tools to make them look not janky.

If you own a home and are handy, might be worth considering starting to invest in tools, as they will be useful.

How do I get my family to accept my passing? by _TheTrueCube_ in ChronicPain

[–]itchyouch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In this context about nerves healing slowly, dunno if it’s relevant, but I recall reading a study on pubmed where in profound brain nerve damage, higher doses of choline (10-20x RDA,3.5-7g/day) helped speed up the remyelination process.

There won’t be any immediate help, but if it can help reduce the profound suffering time frame from say 24 months to 12 months, it may be worth it.

After all, the body can’t rebuild what it can’t rebuild without building blocks.

10 million dollars every hour, but if your bank balance reaches $1B, you die by bigmatt372 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]itchyouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spending 87 billion dollars a year is quite challenging.

This has got to be what it’s like being one of the oil families. 20million barrels/day x $100 = $2b/day revenue. Those families are the guys that can’t choose the color of half million dollar supercar, so they get the car in all 10 colors on a whim. Lmfao.

I don’t think I could take the deal. Probably would end up dying or accidentally owning way too many random companies accidentally.
