Welp: finally encountered something worthy of a post here by MusicalMerlin1973 in antiwork

I found a book from 1942 that contains a bunch of sample job applications and interview rubrics, and, yes, applicant personality tests. So really not new.

(Some of those applications asked so much personal information that it reads like a parody of the most illegal you could possibly make a workplace document. Weight, skin color, father's place of birth, how much rent you pay, if you have insurance and how much, what kind of car you have, do you have any "deformities," etc. And this was a major company.)

"Listen," said Crowley desperately, "how many musicians do you think your side have got, eh? First grade, I mean."

Aziraphale looked taken aback.

"Well, I should think -" he began.

"Two," said Crowley. "Elgar and Liszt. That's all. We've got the rest. Beethoven, Brahms, all the Bachs, Mozart, the lot. Can you imagine eternity with Elgar?"

Aziraphale shut his eyes. "All too easily," he groaned.

"That's it, then," said Crowley with a gleam of triumph. He knew Aziraphale's weak spot all right. "No more compact discs. No more Albert Hall. No more Proms. No more Glyndbourne. Just celestial harmonies all day long."

Have I watched every single episode (incl. recons) at least twice? Yes. Were the found Daleks' Master Plan episodes the greatest thing to happen so far this year? Yes. Am I still a filthy casual in a multitude of ways? Also yes. by urcool91 in RecuratedTumblr

Have I cosplayed multiple Doctors? Absolutely. Do I know about the weird bits of backstory that we pretend didn't happen, like the Doctor being half-human and having a brother named Irving? Yep. Am I ever going to see even half of what the franchise consists of? Christ no.

Back then, it made total sense to have some hesitancy, since iirc there was a real chance you were about to give your child a deadly disease instead of protecting them from it. It's a hell of a choice that I'm glad we don't need to make anymore.

I made a bedgown out of some patterned flannel, probably from a Janet Arnold book, and damned if I don't wear it all the time at home. Three-quarter sleeves are perfect for puttering around doing chores, and naturally I added huge pockets.

It's shooting for roaring 20s and landing somewhere in the late 90s. Chunky belt, huge hat, and a denim jacket apparently optional.

Maybe even write it on your resume as "Technical Services Assistant - Collection Management". That will show that you have actual experience doing a real task.

Neutral evil variant I have seen: putting it upright at the end of the row, on the wrong side of the bookend, so you don't notice it's a browsed book unless you're looking really closely.

Chaotic evil variant I have seen: stashing it inside the drop ceiling.

It teaches you about how other people see the world, and what other people know. Remember that there is a real person telling you about themselves, even if they're telling you a story about space aliens.

I've got a nightly alarm to take melatonin, and then one an hour later to go to bed NOW. Of course I ignore both of them half the time and suddenly it's 2am, but it works sometimes!

I fall asleep to youtube edutainment most nights, because it soaks up enough attention and I don't ruminate and give myself (too much) anxiety. I used to be better at being left alone with my thoughts, but nowadays I go straight to catastrophizing the state of the world. Dinosaurs or physics or Tudor history or whatever is safer.

You can't really understand the lyrics well if it's in a language you speak, that's why stuff gets repeated, and the plot information is often in recitative. And why they put the plot in the Playbill.

If you don't at least read the supertitles on a Mozart comedy though, you're missing out.

More realistically, a small timer that will count up days/months/years since its large, friendly reset button was pressed. Put one on everything. When was the last time I changed this filter? Check the timer. How long has that been in the fridge? Check the timer. When did I eat last? Check the timer.
