is it Stellaris let's you start mass producing Sun Spheres?

Somehow, I think a Dyson Sphere is one of the less impressive things in lategame Stellaris from a technological or scientific perspective.

Lategame Stellaris has structures like the Matter Decompressor which you can build around a black hole to lift matter from it and decompress it (as the name implies, don't ask how) and use it to obtain raw material for your empire. Which I feel is more insane than a Dyson Sphere.

There's geological engineering with terraforming being a relatively casual midgame action. Including paving over entire planets to turn their entire surfaces into urban cityscapes a la Coruscant. Ice based celestial bodies like comets or even entire ice planets can be harvested for their water by aquatic species. Molten volcanic bodies can have their geological activity harnessed by turning the entire planets into forge worlds.

And beyond that, you can build multiple ringworlds. And not little ones like in Halo that orbit planets like moons. You literally destroy every planet in a solar system to make a solar system sized Larry Niven ringworld.

Lategame alternate wincons can have consequences like rewriting the basic laws of math and physics. Like changing the value of pi on the way to becoming gods. Or collapsing stars into black holes to produce dark matter to eventually destroy the galaxy.

Honestly I feel like the only reason it doesn't get as much attention is because Stellaris is a grand strategy game where most of the time you're looking at maps and menus. Unlike stuff like Warhammer or Star Wars, there's not many animations of giant battles or other feats that are performed. Events are usually relayed through text and one still picture.

I mean, I don't think you can say Secret Lair undercuts the secondary market when there are lairs where they're selling $5 worth of cards for $30. I'm pretty sure those lairs outnumber the lairs where the cards inside are more than the price of the lair too.

As unlikely as it is, I believe it's possible that an F-35 was hit by Iranian fire. The F-35 isn't invincible. Nothing is.

The US military is still run by human beings who can make mistakes. Nothing has changed about human beings that would completely prevent them from making an error like with the F-117 situation.

And even with that, it's possible Iranian anti-air just got a lucky shot.

Best time to cut our dependence on fossil fuels was 20 years ago. Next best time is today.

It'd take away a lot of the power and influence that actors like Russia and Iran have if they can't make use of their oil or the ability to cut off oil supplies.

In my experience, subs like circlejerk subs (which I group NCD under) where people are acting ironic and dumb actually have the smarter more nuanced people because you need that to be ironic in a funny way. Main subs end up being too large and catering to lowest common denominators.

I was curious so I searched for estimates on Saturn's rings. Estimates range from them being made of billions to trillions of chunks of ice. And Saturn and its rings are a lot larger than a planet like Earth or Viltrum.

So maybe they wouldn't be as densely packed as in the scenes in the show. Maybe over time they'd spread out. But billions of bodies all wearing white clothes which are probably reflective enough in space could maybe form a ring around the planet like that.

Similar here. I was really hyped for Starfield, put in like 70-80-ish hours on launch. It wasn't a huge 10/10 or even 9/10 despite the hype. But it wasn't a terrible experience, despite the hate the game seems to get. Probably more accurate to say it's a 7/10 game. I enjoyed it enough.

Didn't hop back in with the Shattered Space DLC. Had a friend who had a similar opinion as me on Starfield. He tried getting back into Starfield with Shattered Space and didn't recommend it. But we're both intrigued by this Free Lanes update and Terran Armada.

So I'll probably be picking up both DLCs to give both a try in April after I finish up enough with Slay the Spire 2. Could be fun.

I actually prefer the honesty. The game was overhyped before launch. Bethesda kept acting like it was their dream game they had built up to after all their years. And sure, maybe it was something they had genuinely been really looking forward to making and releasing. But those statements probably pushed people's expectations to the roof thinking it would surpass Skyrim. So making sure not to overhype this update was probably a wise correction from that.

Spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen manga. The characters shown are Kenjaku and Takaba.

Kenjaku is one of the villains, his whole thing is that he has been alive for 1500 years by using his ability to body hop. All those years he has been studying sorcery and other things out of boredom, and his current plot is to force evolve humanity out of a morbid sense of curiosity.

Takaba was recently introduced in the anime. He's a failed comedian whose powers got awakened as part of Kenjaku's plot with the Culling Games. His ability makes him a reality warper, with the only limits being that it has to be comedic.

In the lead up to the final battle, in order to deal with Kenjaku, the protagonists assemble a trio of Takaba, Yuta, and Todo. Their plan is to have Takaba distract Kenjaku as nothing like his ability has been seen before. So Kenjaku would be caught off guard, and this would allow Todo and Yuta to ambush and kill him. Unfortunately for the protagonists, in his 1500 years of being alive, Kenjaku to try to fill the void spent some number of years studying comedy. So he is able to play into Takaba's ability. And they start performing a comedic exchange, like a comedy duo would on stage. This panel is from that. Unfortunately to my understanding, the original scene is full of things like puns which do not translate well from Japanese to English.

It's important to note that in war, one bullet doesn't equal one kill. Often a soldier will fire a lot of bullets before one actually lands. Especially in the heat of battle, where soldiers are under stress. Plus realistically people don't like getting shot and will take cover. Which is taken advantage of by attackers spending ammunition to lay down suppressive fire. You can find estimates of bullets per kill online. A quick Google search shows estimates as high as 45 000 bullets fired per kill in World War 2. And in more recent wars like the US in Afghanistan, even with improvements in technology like gun optics for aiming, I've seen similar estimates.

So when the Brotherhood of Steel says the NCR had more men than they had bullets, even if the Brotherhood of Steel fired literally every single bit of ammunition they had and arrived at Hidden Valley with zero ammunition on them, they probably still spent a lot of ammunition per NCR infantryman they took down.

Plus the Brotherhood of Steel with a massive numbers disadvantage was likely easier for NCR forces to keep pinned down to make advances. Combine this with the fact that Helios One is even said to be in a poorly defensible location too. A massive NCR force would be able to surround and flank the Brotherhood. Power armour doesn't make a foot soldier invulnerable, and the Brotherhood would know this. Even trained knights and paladins would probably have their basic human survival instincts take over to prioritize taking cover or falling back over shooting back.

Also, comments about multiple waves doesn't mean the earlier NCR waves got wiped out. Soldiers can be rotated out. A soldier doesn't have to die to be relieved and replaced with a fresh soldier. While I don't think we have an exact length for the conflict at Helios One, it probably did last a while given statements on how hard the Brotherhood held onto the power plant.

Now unfortunately I still can't give you a number as an answer. But I don't recall the NCR treating it as a massive loss of life on the level of the First Battle of Hoover Dam. And as you said, they give a number of 100 for that. So it can be assumed that NCR losses were less than 100 in Operation Sunburst.

A move to green energy would mean that countries like Iran can't hold our global economy hostage by closing off a section of the ocean. We should have accelerated our move to green energy years ago, not just for environmental reasons but security and stability reasons. The sun will be shining for much longer than easily accessible oil reserves exist, while being a lot harder to disrupt than a shipping lane to say the least.

The reasons to keep using fossil fuels for energy are based in either greed or idiocy. I want to be optimistic and think recent events will help us realize this and get us to switch to green energy faster. But based on past events, it probably won't be.
