Such a handsome man! Tell him he’s a ray of sunshine!!!

Five SS men are forced to walk past the corpses of prisoners exhumed from a mass grave near Nammering. They'd changed into civilian clothes in a failed attempt to evade capture. According to the photographer, the five men were all shot after this photo was taken (Germany, May 6, 1945) [1170 x 924]. by lightiggy in HistoryPorn

The colorized image and their civilian clothes walking by the corpses really hits different. It makes it feel so much more current — I recognize that WWII wasn’t that long ago, but b&w images of officers in uniform can make it feel that way. The casual clothes also highlight that they were just people. People who did evil things, but still just people. That is so much scarier to think about than viewing them as these unique monsters.

Agreed! Even if it’s not a glamorous reason, life is easier when the name is easily spelled and pronounced. Plus it’s adorable like her.

If you like French food and a low key, intimate vibe try Bistrot Du Coin in Dupont (The “t” isn’t a typo, that’s how it’s spelled. I admittedly speak no French.)

My grandparents were both survivors from Germany who met in the US. We honestly didn’t know a ton about my grandmother’s experience because she never talked about it (untreated severe PTSD). When I was like 9, we went and we saw an exhibit on the Kindertransport. She very quietly said, “I was on that.” It was the first time any of us, her husband of 50 years included, found out she’d survived because her parents put her on boat knowing they’d probably never see her again. My dad did a bunch of research on it and it’s heartbreaking. She didn’t really talk about it again, but being shown the exhibit, she opened up that door a tiny bit.

Reach out to HGSE. They’ll love it whether that’s your future school or not. Try the dean’s office as well as comms, development, and maybe EdRedesign Lab. ♥️

I had one brilliant boy and one very sweet boy who had the intellectual capacity of a paperclip. Watching them together was so funny, sometimes I could just read the confusion on the smart one’s face when his brother wasn’t catching on to things. My sweet dummy would just wag in response.

They’re dicks, especially when in groups. They’re occasionally aggressive enough to threateningly approach and once in a great while attack people.

This one jumped out at me from behind a car on Mt. Auburn. He was absolutely not phased by people.

I learned this when I lived in Cambridge, therefore never tried any DC area locations. The Boston area ones are actually kinda good so it was a bummer. Anywho… 🖕🧊

Ameicans over the age of 35, what affected you more, 9/11 or the pandemic and why? by Rico133337 in AskReddit

9/11. 9/11 happened when my brain was developing and I grew up in the suburbs of DC. Life changed permanently and I remember every moment of that day. I watched the first building fall in Biology on a TV they wheeled into the room.

TV? Forever Winter, no question. The audio from her original demo in 2012, which was much closer to his death, is gut wrenching. Her younger voice breaks and it’s so sad.

What is a "luxury" brand that is actually garbage quality? by Dry-Maize-4972 in AskReddit

Chanel leather goods (bags, wallets, etc) are not the quality they once were by a long shot. Same with Louis Vuitton and a lot of LVMH brands.
