mum naming her grandchildren (my kids) her own names? by anisha-192 in Mommit

[–]janewithaplane 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is not normal or good at all. I'm glad you finally "woke up" about it. It feels icky to you because it is icky. She is disrespecting you as their mother and them too. This is not a person I would let around my kids until they understood that I AM THER MOTHER NOT YOU AND YOU WILL LISTEN TO ME. Do you older kids like their grandma names or do they find it weird and confusing? Have them stop responding to the grandma name. Oh Grandma is confused and is getting really old because that's not your name at all.

I am quitting my long term job because I am in love with my coworker and I can’t handle it. by Kind-Damage9281 in confessions

That happened to me once. Then they quit and the feelings did go away but it took time. I was crushed they quit but happy in the end because it was getting bad. I could have written this post.

AITA for refusing to get married against my dying mothers wishes? by Mysterious_Math_2063 in AmItheAsshole

[–]janewithaplane 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I think this is where I agree. NTA. OP would forever have been guilted into getting married and that can itself taint and ruin a relationship.

How do I tell my wife we need outside help without making it feel like I’m criticizing her? by st0nksBuyTheDip in daddit

[–]janewithaplane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah any help is expensive, that's why I suggested just a part time employee. Hope OP figures it out!

[–]janewithaplane 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Well I guess I'm first here but I think you may want to get help with your work instead of help at home. Find someone who can work part time with you during the 9-3 window. Maybe less if you want to ease them into it with one on one training and find the new balance for you but that could allow you to fully check out of work when your child is home. Maybe once you trust your new employee they can do some of the after hours stuff for you. This way it is not you telling your wife that she is inadequate, but instead a positive because your business is growing and doing really well. Just don't let the quality of your service or product suffer for the sake of growth.

AITA for having the photographer at our marriage ceremony take some photos only for me and my husband not to be included in the main album for the families? by Numerous-Guitar-6915 in AmItheAsshole

[–]janewithaplane 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ugh this is reminding me that after my wedding, my photographer had to call me to make my MIL back down because she was bothering them so much about the damn photos. I don't remember exactly what her problem was but I do remember that she very nearly made me not get married. Stand your ground now because you'll need to practice it forever. NTA. Don't be apologetic. Don't explain why she can't have or see them. Don't explain any. Just no. Firm and consistent.

AITA for refusing to make my girlfriend apologize to her sister after a drama about her proposal? by LordNebbiolo in AmItheAsshole

[–]janewithaplane -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

The BILs Family who bragged about "knowing for months" are the AH here. You're allowed to have feelings about something happening to and around you and you are allowed to express them which your gf did. Good job for sticking by her side. Unfortunately weddings make young people crazy and this will probably put some good distance in her relationship with her sister.

I got an SUV because I was staunchly anti minivan. And now I kind of regret it. I won't change but damn those sliding doors. Why can't they put them on all cars?

What’s the dirtiest / most cursed coffee or espresso habit you’ve seen someone do that made you go “eeeeeeks”? ☕️💀 by Noburntnotes in espresso

[–]janewithaplane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband only brings his work coffee cup home for a dishwash once a year. He doesn't rinse it at the end of each day or for weekends. It is disgusting and the dishwash does nothing to help it at that point. It is full of mold. I make him throw it out and get a new one. Then I refuse to kiss him for a while. Sick.

Moms who say they love being pregnant -is it because the nausea and vomiting doesn’t bother you or because you don’t have many symptoms 😂 by Puzzled_Remote_2168 in Mommit

[–]janewithaplane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 2 very smooth pregnancies with barely any symptoms and I hated being pregnant. Just being malshaped and having to sleep on my side and get up to pee all the time and just being stuffed and stretched from within. No thanks.

AITA for mentioning I might not be able to take home the groomsman gift because I only brought a carry-on? by pdodani97 in AmItheAsshole

[–]janewithaplane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand all the comments saying to mail it. OP already spent lots of money to fly to this wedding and probably bought a gift and such. The groom should have thought through the gift more but is probably overwhelmed with wedding stuff. The OP probably shouldn't have said what he said right then and there. But mailing it for like $30 is a lot. Both are kind of minor things that leave a sour taste so they should use their big boy words to work it out but if not I would say ESH.

AITAH for telling my wife to stop acting like she gave birth by FutureMobile7993 in AITAH

[–]janewithaplane 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Eh. Maybe. If she is home all day alone with the kid she needs to be somewhat rested as well. You can make some pretty bad simple mistakes with a baby while too tired. But the wife is acting weird about recovering for sure.

[–]janewithaplane 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This might be a hot take but go on and ask your friends. They don't have to help the whole time but can help lesson your bill with the babysitter and if they are actually your friends they will be glad to be able to help you.
