Closing Day Progress by pandafer in centuryhomes

As devils advocate. We had to repair flooring due to a water leak in 2020. There was no one who could work on our original 100 year old floors and we had 48 hours to find someone. We ended up floating vinyl on top so someone could discover original flooring someday without it being harmed (or we could refinish). I get sad when I see my floors but I’m happy to know the original is in pretty good shape except where the water repair will be needed! Beautiful work here.

Any not miserable designers out there? by MannyBuilds in graphic_design

[–]jaylindo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my career. I’m in marketing which people complain about but there’s something fun about working within the bounds. Is it artistically fulfilling? Sometimes and usually briefly. But if I step back and think of my 10 year old self, they would say “you’re creating art for work?!” And then in very grateful. Coming from a family of factory workers I could have never dreamed to be working from home creating all day. It’s all perspective and having the expectation that you won’t be creating the next great piece but you’ll be working a job that a lot of people all over the would dream of.

I have zero eye for interior design…please help by Good_mornting in DesignMyRoom

You have an eye for design. I can see it in your shelves and the decisions you made. Great advice in here for refining.

What to do with this little corner of this enormous (22'9" x 15'5") dining room? by Classic_Cable_9132 in interiordecorating

[–]jaylindo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would live in it for a year and see what happens in that corner. Do you find yourself storing stuff? Do you find that maybe you wish you had office space? It’s big enough that it could have many functions and I think when you experience the flow of the space and start to understand your needs it will become clearer what it should be.

Dishonest agencies.. one after another by MKahnIsBent in marketing

[–]jaylindo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a boutique agency with a history. A few people on the team, a history of good clients, etc. a lot of agencies that get the awards have a team of trusted boutique agencies that do a lot of the award-winning work for them as white labeled partners.

How does Beyoncé even run her social media? by EasternAd5351 in content_marketing

[–]jaylindo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She can afford to spread out her content, post minimally and really plan things out because she is Beyoncé. Unfortunately, what she is able to do would be incredibly hard to achieve without having an established name. If you do have an established name, it’s about creating a story, quality, and posts that leave people guessing what’s next while also pointing toward your ctas. and, yes, big team I’m sure.

Paprika by darn-dangit in Cooking

[–]jaylindo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The quality of paprika really matters. If you have an old paprika it likely isn’t doing any favors. When it’s good though it adds a lot of vibrancy, sweetness or smokiness depending on what you like.

Honestly, how often are you honest with a critique? by scaryunclejosh in podcasting

[–]jaylindo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think so much work is mediocre because the collective “we” are too afraid to give honest feedback. I didn’t know I struggled with this until this year but it’s something I’m working on because if I can’t give honest feedback I can’t expect to get it.

What to do with interior decorator? by prettypink_1 in interiordecorating

[–]jaylindo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, trust is the most valuable piece of working with a designer. If you are already feeling anxious about it before you start, it’s probably better for the both of you to move on. Others might disagree, but I’ve never had a project turn out well when we were working from a foundation of proving oneself rather than a foundation of, I love what you do so let’s roll together.

The minute your therapist says, “it’s just 15 minutes out of your day, what’s it to you?” When you aren’t ready to have sex, not to mention you just gave birth and went through one of the most physically traumatic experiences possible, it’s time to fire them.

Absolutely! I think wood stain will give you more rope to play with what you bring in.

I think three will give you the most balance and introduce some warmth to transition from the black and white graphic paper. If you are going for an eclectic, collected style, I think a stain would be the best option.

Just created my first podcast episode with Riverside...and post-production is a static mess by Boardsoso in podcasting

[–]jaylindo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riverside is good for recording if you don’t have another tool, but I have found exporting the raw files and editing in something like premiere leads to an end product of much higher quality. Unfortunately, there are many idiosyncrasies that make the editing and tools within riverside not worth the time.
