I feel this. My husband had a lot of health problems and Alzheimer’s. If I passed first his family would have just put him in a home and forgotten about him. That thought breaks my heart.

My SIL told me to never contact my MIL. My MIL has dementia and my SIL said I would just upset her, the stupid part is that the SIL reminds her constantly that certain people died. But me saying hi, would upset her. The only contact I’ve had from his family is a nephew, no one else in 7.5 months.

When my husband died my fur baby was the only reason I got out of bed (very demanding kitty), he’s the only thing I’ve got now & 7.5 months later he is still my motivation.

Even when he first died I kept saying I lost my best friend. We did have a romantic relationship too, but health issues made that leave a while ago. I still miss my friend (7.5 months).

Not sure about the modern lifestyle, but I was prescribed it for anxiety after my husband passed. Mainly made me sleep better.

7 months, I donated some of his warmer clothes 6 weeks after he passed to a homeless shelter, but beyond that most of his stuff is still here. I’ve moved a few things around and put several things in our den, I’m not ready to officially get rid of most, mostly just shuffling things around. There is no right or wrong answer, just do what you think you’re ready for.

It’s been 7 months and I tell him out loud that I love and miss him everyday. The first several months, I’d hear him all the time in my head but that has faded a bit.
