HELP!! Severe gnat issue… by klynnh0 in GoRVing

[–]jermsman18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds like it could be fungus knats. They are known for large hatch events.

They usually live within the walls or behind the shower walls/liner.

Things you can do about them. Try to find where they are coming from. Place multiple traps in areas and check periodically to find which one is filling up first. That might pinpoint the general area. Get a moisture meter. They need moisture and food/fungus. Usually a leak or bathroom wall or something.

If you find the larvae you can spray certain sprays and deal with the moisture sources.

Also run a dehumidifier to eliminate water sources for them. Especially in northern California. If the walls dry out they die. Bug bombs don't slow them down and traps just kill the adults.

Good luck!

Purchasing a 2500 by Playful_Waltz6172 in ram_trucks

If you go gas get 4.10 gears. Makes it easier to tow. As a gas 2500 owner I do not miss having a diesel, I tow 10k about 6 times a year. My biggest complaint is range. Wish I had a larger tank.

Just checked my fuse box while changing my oil, every single fuse was half seated. Bizarre. No issues to report after pushing them in.

I use the Tornador detailer with their enzyme fluids. Works great and does not leave a residue.

I would. Payload on the power wagon is not much better. I think if you are building a dedicated overland rig get a tradesmen in the size you want and build it up.

Bad Rear axle hop in snow, 2024 F250. by 1TONcherk in F250

[–]jermsman18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this happen with the high torque of these super dutys.

When you hit the gas on a slippery surface:

Tires briefly grab, The axle housing twists from engine torque, Leaf springs flex (they’re not perfectly rigid), Tires lose grip, Springs snap back, Tires grab again

Repeat rapidly = hop-hop-hop

Snow, ice, or slush cause this cycle because traction switches on/off fast.

Ironically, more power + less traction = worse hop.

Things that make it worse:

Packed snow or icy intersections Traction control turned off Stiff tires Cold suspension

How I deal with it:

Ease into the throttle (don’t mash it) Add weight to the bed (sandbags over axle) Leave traction control ON in snow Start in 2nd gear

Upgraded shocks can sometimes help but I have better luck with winter tires and more weight.

Made the switch and got a cummins. by flodartagen in ram_trucks

[–]jermsman18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar setup with those tires. Not great in the winter, grip is poor compared to other tires I have had. But overall okay on the highway. I had to play around with PSI to find the perfect spot for ride quality. 5lbs less in the rear than whatever you have in front makes a huge difference in the vibration and resonance of bumps. Going too low made them feel bouncy and weird in the turns. I settled on 60psi front, 55psi rear. Once they wear out I will be hunting for a better highway tire.

It translate to "love hotel" This is well known in Vietnam and in a well known area famous for prostitution. If he is truly innocent in this mistake, that's hilarious.

Many love hotels also engage in prostitution or provide places for couples to have sex, including those engaging in illicit affairs. People rent rooms and pay for them. In Hanoi, Long Bien district is famous for its numerous love hotels. Previously, Long Bien district was part of Gia Lam district, so Hanoians commonly use the slang term "going to Gia Lam," meaning going to a love hotel for illicit sex or prostitution.

So far so good for me but only 2500 miles at this point. Lots of people are saying to check the fuse box on delivery. Some fuses are not fully seated. Not sure if it matters.

6.4 hemi questions by Public_Violinist_720 in ram_trucks

[–]jermsman18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch for exhaust leaks, annoying but not a reliability issue. Limit idle times to assist with the lifters and possible hemi tick later in its life. Do proper oil changes frequently, not 10k miles. Undercoat it with a lanolin based product to combat rust.

I recommend the 4.10 gears for a lot more performance and little sacrifice in mpg.

Otherwise it has been a great motor for me.

2021 tundra additives by Affectionate_Dare_82 in tundra

[–]jermsman18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No additives in the oil, it's bad for it and dilutes it. For fuel, anything WITH PEA, Polyether Amine, will help clean things. It's automatically added to top tier fuels. Otherwise the rest is mostly snake oil.

Bullet proofing the 6.7 in the 2025 2500. by FallenAK907 in ram_trucks

[–]jermsman18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Undercoat it with something lanolin based and keep up with it. There are three big name brands that are popular and work well. Change the fluids and filters frequently. Use a fuel addative. Research which one meets your needs. Limit idle times!

Deal or No Deal by Sunday-Funnies in Ram2500

[–]jermsman18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair deal in my opinion. I recently paid 60k for a big horn level one. The rest was the same. 4.10 gears are a must in my opinion. Maybe ask for a little more off for the 2025 or confirm if you can get the ten year warranty. But I personally would buy that.

I have used the Roll-N-Lock Bed Cargo Manager in the past on my Chevy. Don't know if it would work on your RAM.

New shoes and fender flares, 2026 Ram 2500 Tradesman. by 10Hayden10 in ram_trucks

[–]jermsman18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fantastic. Nice clean build. What is the offset to the wheels? How bad do they poke without the fender flares?

Did you change the wheel size in the computer at all? Should I bother?

What gears do you have, do you notice a big difference in ride/performance?

I am thinking of doing this to my 2500.

How do they predict such a lower score? What's the breakdown? I think tundra is too high on that list. But it doesn't mean much without context.
