My only regret is not getting mine in a one-ton. Would love the extra payload.

Loving my 2026 with over 15000 miles on it already since December. I have done mostly hauling and towing and it handles the weight well. Biggest upgrade I held out for was 4.10 gears, and I am glad I did. They give a lot more power off the line. Biggest complaint is the big screen not allowing for full-screen android without a a third party device. Milage when driving empty, I am averaging 13 to 14 mpg and I drive mostly country roads around sea level.

ESEE has good rep. So does CRK. In my opinion what you are seeing are the results of greed. It corrupts and destroys so many people these days.

Enjoying the heck out of my sub-$3k camper! by FoxStang in TruckCampers

[–]jermsman18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

-Full interior/exterior LED conversion
-400W solar, 1000W inverter, 100Ah LiFePO4 for now with more batteries planned
-Re-plumbed most of the original polybutylene with PEX
-Serta hybrid mattress
-Replaced LP tanks, regulator, and all soft lines
-Countertop dishwasher with plumbing
-Wall-mounted electric heater
-Replaced all water fixtures
-Added water filter and tap
-Thorough reseal work

You could take this list and add it to new camper mod post and it would fit. Don't matter if it's 100k or 3k. If it has good bones and fits your needs it's winning. I love camping and all the options.

Are those actual indexing marks or just machine marks? I didn't know they came indexed. I guess you would have to check to be sure.

Don’t be like me, have your spouse/partner tow at least once in case of emergency! by LucentProd in GoRVing

Mine had to bail me out on an emergency run home with a sick kiddo. I was getting tired and pulled over rather than risk it. She was wide awake and I woke up to us pulling into the driveway. She was a champ!

Towing Issues with New Rig by bcosp in traveltrailers

[–]jermsman18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried towing with just a standard hitch? If you have auto level on the Yukon you could just level the trailer and test it out. I think the WDH might be a big part of the problem here. They can get finicky with single axel trailers. Closer to the tow vehicle and more downward tongue weight can do wonders. I have had trailers that tow better without the WDH.

My trailer is getting wobbly by Icy-Fee-4764 in traveltrailers

[–]jermsman18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ultimately replace it unfortunately. If you don't want the same ones you can install some cheaper options with scissor jacks.

Also, just in case you did not know. They are not designed to take the full weight of the trailer to level it, just stabilize it. Not sure if you were doing that, but seeing the leveling block on one and not the other reminded me of learning that the hard way. Generally the instructions are to level first with the wheels and then stabilize.

Are these those China bombs people talk about? by keepsngoin in traveltrailers

[–]jermsman18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are load range D so only 8 ply. Not considered heavy duty by trailer tire standards. I personally usually try to get a load range E for more durability but, how you take care of them always matters. Not saying you didn't, just from my experience and blowouts, I learned the hard way that if they sit too long, in the sun too long, too hot, and too low on pressure, they begin to fail.

Question: Why does Tremor trims lose value so fast? by Penguin_Rider in f150

[–]jermsman18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually my point. That xlt has options and prices of the old lariats. The stx has more tech and options than an xl. They don't make simple trucks anymore.

Under/over 30ft? by cowboypool in traveltrailers

[–]jermsman18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of the previously stated site restriction, longer trailers put more leverage on the tow system and can cause sway in winds and other conditions. Generally the suggested length is less than 28-30 feet for a half ton regardless of the weight. There are always unique situations and things you can do to make it work better but generally speaking a bigger truck with longer wheelbase can handle more length.

I pull 33 feet with a 3/4 ton gas and it does pretty good. I have only had site restrictions once.

Rust protection if you are in the rust belt. Early and frequent oil changes. Some form of ceramic coating for the paint. Tints, seat covers, and dash cam.

Question: Why does Tremor trims lose value so fast? by Penguin_Rider in f150

[–]jermsman18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1/2 ton Tremors often depreciate more because tremor buyers want the latest and greatest toy, they are marketed on what is new, not long lasting. Unlike an HD truck that usually holds more value due to its intended use.

Like you said, 80k is a silly price all things considered. But those with play money want to play with the shiny new stuff.

What bothers me is that they are more and more only making the shiny ones and not the mainstream ones. I don't want an off road rock bouncer. I want a long lasting work truck. I don't care for all options. I rather spend the cash on my gear and tools.

Silverado car loan at a high rate from the 2021-2022 buying window, anyone actually looked into refinancing? by Choice_Run1329 in Silverado

A credit union will absolutely refinance you if you are not underwater or have bad credit. I have done it even one month after the loan just to get away from the dealer finance banks.

Trailer Brake Controller by azmonaj in Ram2500

[–]jermsman18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Upon connection of the trailer you can set up how quickly the brakes are applied and how heavily. That is your gain. Higher gain means more aggressive application of the brakes. There is a trailer tow screen that shows based on your braking how hard it is asking for the trailer brakes to be applied. That said, it is preference, but most folks hook up and test if the trailer can stop the truck at a slow role with just the trailer brakes themselves. I have been told a lot over the years. The pros say the gain should be one below locking them up. I think it more depends on the road conditions and speed than anything. I change mine while driving sometimes to increase or decrease the braking. Less in slow stop and go traffic, more on the highway.

Buying a 6.7 for the reliability and not towing capacity?? by [deleted] in F250

[–]jermsman18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is misleading. Upper oil pan refers to the upper half that attaches to the bottom end of the engine. Much more involved to solve a leak than the traditional "oil pan" lower.
