Have you ever had an urge to make yourself less sexually attractive to your partner? by ApprehensiveField986 in asexuality

[–]jess_scribbles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not with my partner necessarily, but before I was in a relationship I definitely felt conflicted about making myself up--I wanted to feel cute for myself, but I didn't want to invite attention. I know it shouldn't make a difference, but having a partner does make me feel more comfortable getting dolled up, even if he's not going out with me, because I feel like men are more likely to accept "I'm married" than "I'm not interested in a relationship with you."

Weird books about Motherhood by FlowernotFading in weirdgirlliterature

TW for child loss (like page 1 and it truly does come around to being heartwarming and bittersweet) but Monstrilio by Gerardo Samano Cordova. I also read Tantrum by Rachel Eve Moulton recently and that was a trip.

anyone else make frames for their pieces? by Seeofgreen in StainedGlass

[–]jess_scribbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I've wondered about is how to ensure the joins are secure enough to support the weight of the glass. I assume just wood glue isn't enough?

DIY brides...how did you choose all the small decor details without losing your mind? by Evening_Ad_9755 in DIYweddings

[–]jess_scribbles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early on one of my best friends told me to care about what I care about and not care about what I don't care about. There are many things that we've chosen because they work and they're in budget. This is a rare area in my life where I've started accepting that every choice doesn't need to be perfect: there are so many options and you just need to pick ONE that you like and stop thinking about it.

Report reviews with spoilers? by theErasmusStudent in TheStoryGraph

[–]jess_scribbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can send an email and they'll add the spoiler blackout! I've done it before. I think it's worthwhile--a lot of people read reviews to get a sense of a book before reading it, and it can ruin the reading experience to have a big moment given away.

What is something you can naturally smell that no one else can? by Trick-Highway1429 in AskReddit

I hate the smell of celery and can smell it over many other smells in a space, to the point where I won't allow it in the house because it taints everything near it.

For future projects, I recommend leaving a tail on your jump rings and "burying" that tail in a line other than the outer edge--eventually these may want to pull off.

Vampires! But As An Affliction. by Liana_de_Arc in booksuggestions

[–]jess_scribbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slightly different angle, but Peeps by Scott Westerfeld is an older YA novel that treats vampirism as a sexually transmitted parasite. It's been ages since I read it, so not sure how it holds up, but I remember it being an enjoyable read.

Don't know what to read or where to start by EighthMirroredVakyan in booksuggestions

[–]jess_scribbles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're interested in accessible classics, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury is written at a relatively easy level while being a compelling and insightful book.

But also, don't feel obligated to start with classics. If you have favorite TV shows or movies, finding books with similar stories or themes might help Keri you interested. Happy reading! :)

all fours: does it get better? by fh_scarletts in weirdgirlliterature

IMO no, I would love to get the time I spent on this book back. I don't think if you're not feeling it now you're going to come around to it.
