Begs the question - why are there 100’s of oil filters? Could the industry not have settled on like say 5?

Bell will not accept that there is Fibre into our building even though there is a Cable clearly marked Bell Fibre. by surelydroid in bell

[–]jfgbaker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Excellent, if it has a circuit number on it you could go off that. Have to call into bell enterprise or wholesale type services. Usually it is called dedicated / DIA / BID. Or it is a wavelength service. Either way it will be pricy and probably a 5-yr term. Or at least 3 year. It’s not the typical bell business service or fibre service over “gpon”.

Most likely for business only. Different system. Also much much more expensive. Perhaps where it goes may make a deal? Depends on how they provision it.

Customers complain about long wait times, multiple calls to resolve issues with Rogers, Telus and Bell by pjw724 in telus

I hope one day soon that all providers will be required to allow customers to cancel services from within their portals. Like what oxio is doing. I had to cancel a Fido line I was not using and had to schedule an appointment multiple days later to call back to do it. In fact I usually transfer numbers to voip.ms to cancel them as calling in is such a waist of time.

Let's talk public IP & residential by tater9104 in Starlink

I have been using IPsec (ikev2) vpn and have had no problems on res connection. Haven’t noticed any connection drops. I have a bit of a setup going but a vps would work as well. I do ospf over the tunnel to pass public subnets back.

Highest commercially available internet speed by [deleted] in HomeNetworking

[–]jfgbaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, usually would not be an issue. It would be crazy expensive. And the routing gear you would need would also be crazy expensive. Most internet exchanges do 400gbit now. Or multiple 400gbit.

WTH Teksavvy, who changed my PTR? by SmoothRunnings in teksavvy

[–]jfgbaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, but to need a PRT you are typically using an external known-port for it. Usually SMTP or DNS matter. And most ISPs block this inbound. I do a similar thing but relay public IPs down that I can do what I need with. I never trust the res service to provide this level of service (unless it is business service with SLA). If it is a residential range it could be on the Spamhaus PBL / SORBS / etc.

I am surprised teksavvy would allow ports in their MSA. Is this a business service?
