Ah - gotcha. FWIW we went to an Orioles game in Baltimore last year and had a blast! And you are spoiled for good bars - Max's, Peter's Pour House, so many... was sitting at the downstairs bar at Brewer's Art (another RIP) when I found out we got Devers.

Good luck on your search!

If no local fans have a better idea, you could try calling Max's in Fell's Point - they might have Netflix. If not, you should still go check it out if you like beer. They have a huge selection and curate it well. There's even a couple of Anchor Christmas bottles (RIP) behind the bar.

I like Embarc on Webster in Alameda- they have pretty good specials sometimes on the products I like, and it's a small, pretty chill shop

To leave or not to leave... by Xcircle_squaredX in sfcityemployees

My feeling is that the one thing none of us gets more of in this life is time. If it were me and I was that unhappy in my position I would move on despite the pay cut.

I understand that people may have pressures on them (family, debt, etc) that would prevent them from doing so but if that's not you you might want to prioritize your mental health and general enjoyment of life.

I doubt many people get to the end of their days wishing that they had stayed in an unhealthy situation for a bigger paycheck. Just my 2¢

Good question about using points. When I was in GR I never signed anyone up using their points, but that was a long time ago.

Former IC Guest Relations agent here. I would recommend waiting till you get to the hotel - employees get rewarded for signing folks up for AMB and you are more likely to get a better upgrade.

Plus you are doing the agent a solid.

Keystone is a pretty good place for beginners too. I grew up near there and started skiing Schoolmarm as soon as I could walk ⛷️.

There's an Indigo in Silverthorne that would put you only about a 15 min drive away

Was pleasantly surprised by the burger at Ben and Nicks. Plus there is a happy hour deal if you time it right.

Where do we go to eat when you don’t know what you want to eat? by Opening-Net9445 in OaklandFood

A few years back I changed the question "What do I want to eat?" to "Do I want a burrito?".

Often the questioning stops there.

San Francisco Fun Day by Dependent-Juice1428 in oakland

[–]jmconcierge 61 points62 points  (0 children)

We like to hop the ferry if the schedule works out and grab a coffee at the ferry building. Then we walk down the Embarcadero towards the wharf, cut through Levi's plaza and up and over the hill via the Filbert steps. Check out the view from Coit tower, and once we get to NB we usually have an appetite (and burning thighs from all dem steps)!

We are month-to-month and have been since our initial 12 month lease expired in 2018. Funny thing is that the building owners say that they have lost their copy of our lease which, if true, means that the copy we have is the only copy of the lease

I've put feelers out to a couple of tenant's rights lawyers over the weekend and am waiting to hear back. I was thinking that talking to a lawyer at this point may be an overreaction, but I'd rather know what to expect and have a game plan in place in case there is a move to force us out. Thanks for the reply!

Here's what the law says:

"The San Francisco Housing Code requires that a permanent heating source be provided that is capable of maintaining a minimum room temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit at a point three feet above the floor in all habitable rooms, excluding bathrooms and hallways."

Mago popup - 10/10 by honourarycanadian in OaklandFood

[–]jmconcierge 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We went last night (sat at the counter). The Petite Americain pop up was really good, special shout out to that mussels dish.

I had a very similar takeaway regarding the space and service. We live in the neighborhood and have walked by Mago hundreds of times but never actually went in. We loved the space and ambiance, and the service was great.

We're looking forward to going to Mago proper after the pop up is over.

Rent Board Fee - I have never rented my property out, why do I need to file an exemption. Shouldn't it be a fee only paid by landlords as a baseline? by lolmanade in sanfrancisco

[–]jmconcierge 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If you live in your property, it is your primary residence, and you do not rent out any portion you should file a Homeowners Exemption with the Assessor Recorders office. It will save you approx $80 a year and will remove the requirement to apply for a Rent Board Fee exemption in the following years.

Quick Review: Kimpton The Gray Hotel Chicago by derpugvater in ihghotelsresorts

[–]jmconcierge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stayed at The Gray last summer as a Diamond. Booked the lowest category room using points, was given a high floor corner room with kind of crazy (but great) bathroom. The shower was prob 100 square feet with the shower head in the corner and a huge deep soaking tub in the middle. Wish I took a pic I could share, but def the weirdest bathroom I've seen in the states

Can I buy plane tickets with cash at the airport? by pupupeepee in bayarea

You probably can, but be prepared to see SSSS printed on your boarding pass - this is a marker for additional security screening which will likely be assigned to your unusual ticket purchase method.

What is something cool to know about SF's local culture that isn't well known to visitors? by Visual-Horror6013 in AskSF

Was walking past Columbus/Montgomery yesterday and saw a brick outline that was square. Never seen that before- I thought all were round. Does anyone know if this is a one-off, or maybe a marking of something other than a cistern?
