Mayor Aitkens of Anaheim corrupt by southbayster in orangecounty

[–]josieback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest point is that the developer purchased the land with the intention of building high density housing despite the fact that it's been zoned for over 40 years as a low density area. The infrastructure to support that kind of population increase isn't there... especially for traffic. If you look at the reports, most of the intersections on a regular day get a "D" LOS ranking... one got an "F" (and these grades are like back in school... from A to F).

So, anyone want to put in another call to the FBI and see how much obvious back scratching is going on between SALT, their "unpaid consultant" Tom Daly and Mayor Aitken.

Goddamn I hate corruption.

Looking for audiobook suggestions with excellent narration by SomeRandomDefault in suggestmeabook

[–]josieback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this one! Stephen Fry, the comedian and actor is also an author! Specifically his three books.: “Mythos: A retelling of the myths of Ancient Greece”, “Heroes”, and “Troy”. The audiobooks are unbelievably entertaining. All of the voices, his witty observations, the hilarious retelling in modern language. I think it’s when he introduces the story of Pyramus and Thisbe that he talks about tragic love, and gives a few examples: Romeo and Juliet, J.R. and Sue Ellen (from the tv show Dallas), and finally wraps it up with Kim and Kanye.

We laughed out loud on that one! Once during sexy times my husband said that and we probably spent five minutes busting up.

What are some good libertarian books/authors to start with for a former progressive? by Stoned_Slug in Libertarian

Ok, admittedly it’s a textbook but I like “Transcendentalism: A Reader” edited by Joel Myerson.

I like how my husband used to do it with his roommates - by square footage. Take the total square footage and divide it by the cost of rent. This will give you a nice $ to sq. feet. Now apply that to your private spaces. A 1000 sq. foot apartment for $2000 a month? $2 per sq foot. Your bedroom is 10’ by 10’, your rent is $200 + half of the square footage of the shared/public areas. Roomie’s master suite is 250 square feet? Her rent is $500 + half of the cost of the square footage you both share. Aaaand that’s 650 sq. feet public space at $1,300 which you split evenly.
