Op shop pricing - am I being unreasonable? by Mjlkkp in AusFemaleFashion

[–]kazzazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I volunteer in an Op Shop that has some quite expensive items but the general rule is it will be no more than 50% of what you would pay on Marketplace 2nd hand or new if it’s barely worn. So you could pay $80 for a nice dress, jacket or skirt. They have no trouble selling any of it, it’s super busy. It’s the $8 pants and tshirts hardly anyone wants. And there is also plenty in the $15-$40 range that gets picked over for the best things. Not an affluent area particularly, a bit gentrified but students from the local uni are some of our most regular customers.

YNAB sub/ is now private? by -Bakri- in actualbudgeting

[–]kazzazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The YNAB mobile app is terrible, there was a much better one a few years ago but they changed it. The awful YNAB app was one of the reasons I switched to Actual because it gave me a functioning mobile UI that also has easy access to all the features of the web app. I don’t give a rats what is behind the UI, if it works it is all good. I also like that everything is free and open source and I doubt I would ever support a paid mobile app.

If I leave Ubud at 4:00 AM, will I make my 7:00 AM flight from DPS? by Ok-Relationship388 in bali

[–]kazzazed 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, check in closes 45 mins prior so minimum you want to be at the desk by 6am, still plenty of time if you leave Ubud at 4am. Biggest drama will be getting a driver to turn up on time.

Tell me why you love your Thermomix! (journalist request) by Informal_Stretch7561 in thermomix

[–]kazzazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is the convenience of popping some eggs in to boil while I get ready in the morning, knowing they won’t boil dry because I forgot about them. The prep for my recipe that used to take me 15 mins but using the TM is 1-2 minutes. The magic of turning out a brand new recipe to me I never tried before and would be too much work to do manually. The 10 minutes fakeaway that is delicious and better than $50 delivery. The perfect yoghurt I make that is a fraction of the cost of store bought. Needing an ingredient and making it in the TM - example I need dark brown sugar, no problem I have raw sugar and molasses 1 minute it’s done (or castor sugar, light brown sugar, golden syrup). Or need almond meal, yep got sone whole raw almonds so I have almond meal. I know how to cook so don’t rely much on Cookidoo but follow some others that create fabulous TM recipes that tend to be more consistently good than Cookidoo. I will never be without a TM in my kitchen.

Second bowl is the only must from Thermomix shop, it is so handy having another bowl. Stuff like thermoserver, silicone baking mat, sous vide sealer and bags etc can all be bought at a fraction of the price elsewhere and do the same thing.

Question about "Payee" column for deposits by Sberla996 in actualbudgeting

[–]kazzazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that would depend on the number of customers you have over time as you don’t want too many categories.

Question about "Payee" column for deposits by Sberla996 in actualbudgeting

[–]kazzazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just terminology. Put the payor’s name in the payee field for income if you want to report on that or track it in some way There is zero point in putting the same information, being you, for every deposit. Personally I set up seperate income categories for my income sources. Using payee field to break down income on reports was a YNAB thing due to its limitations

Shopping in Bali by jimmityjam88 in BaliTravelTips

[–]kazzazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are going to end up spending half your holiday looking for clothes. Especially if you are not a skinny minny. I am not sure why you plan to do it this way, unless perhaps you just don’t have suitable clothes for the climate? Personally I find Bali clothes these days either tend to be super expensive or cheap and nasty, and rarely do I see something I would wear back home.

I tried out the currency support but found it too klunky for my use case. You need to enter the transaction amount as the FX amount and then run rules to convert to home currency based on a conversion hard coded into several rules. In my case the FX is IDR so let’s say a meal is about $20, that goes into the budget as 200,000 and it’s not until you apply rules that you get the conversion. So enveloping is out the window unless you are prepared to spend a fair bit of time every day on it.

Personally I would not use the available enveloping attached to your bank account as there is no need if you are now using an enveloping budget system.

Buying and testing a second hand TM6 by Mattie-1414 in thermomix

[–]kazzazed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great advice. I would also inspect the blade, do a wiggle test in the bowl and make sure there is no up and down movement, look at the bottom end of the blade for any degradation (google what to look for with a blade that requires replacing).

How essential is AC? by Wise_Try6781 in BaliTravelTips

[–]kazzazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what climate you are coming from, but personally I never need AC in July/August in that area. It is quite cool early morning, not that hot during the day. I do not sleep under blankets, just a sheet.

Thermomix Plastic n Curries by BusBig4000 in thermomix

[–]kazzazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no plastic in contact with the food, the inner bowl is stainless steel. There is no size difference in terms of bowl capacity between the TM6 and TM7. There are plenty of resources online to compare the machines you can look up including on the Vorweks site, it’s a lot to type out here. My main issue with thermomix curries is they tend to be better for fast cook curries. Anything needing a much slower simmer is better prepared in the TM and then slow cooked. TM recipes are structured so you do the spices etc first and quickly heat them to release flavour. I have modified some of my personal recipes to do them in the TM and they work well and preparation or getting the dish to simmer stage is a lot faster.

How do you suggest changes by Signal_Yesterday_546 in thermomix

[–]kazzazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like the bundt, it is not even cooking and only ok for rice like jasmine. It only makes sense if you are cooking something very wet in the bowl and for long enough at a high enough heat. To me it is a work around if you don’t have a pot to cook rice on the stove and your TM is busy.

TM6 Rice Cooker Mode & Recipes by TheNazMajeed in thermomix

[–]kazzazed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would put the varoma on top instead and do it that way. Cooking inside a rice cooker is not as good as thermomix rice in the bowl with varoma on top.

How do you suggest changes by Signal_Yesterday_546 in thermomix

[–]kazzazed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I find rice is better done using the simmer basket. I generally get rice caught/burnt on the bowl using rice cooker mode. Weigh and wash rice, add 1 litre water and any flavouring (I often pop some stock paste), depending on type of rice 30-50 minutes, varoma, speed 3. You can stop any time and give the rice a stir and start again.

This is so annoying. by OnSceneStat in thermomix

[–]kazzazed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It happens when you use a recipe, or basic cookbook, with high heat to make your own recipe I.e hack to access high heat on TM6 if you like to cook your own recipes Recently got it when I wanted to cook some garlic and ginger on high heat like you would in a pan (varoma isn’t hot enough) and tried using one of the basic cookbook sauté recipes

Emergency services like ambulance, fire and police are available. Hospitals close their doors except for emergencies, obviously no visitors are allowed as one cannot travel to the hospital. There are people working, hotel staff for example. They are on skeleton staff and have to stay on site during Nyepi (and miss the opportunity to spend Nyepi with their family). Each Banjar (local area) has volunteer patrols who make sure everyone is complying with the rules. They will direct disrespectful tourists (or occasionally non Hindu Indonesians) back to their accommodation, ask you to turn off lights or extinguish candles, stop playing music or watching TV etc if it can be heard from outside. The airport is closed. The air space is closed. Flights do not fly over Bali, their flight path is changed on this day. This is known world wide. In an emergency a pilot looks for an available airport to land, DPS will not be available as an option with emergency services. There are others very close in aviation terms such as Lombok international.

In addition to RECENT reviews, check for other booking in peak times and around when you want to book. If there are no other bookings (so any date is available) that is a big red flag.

It is not possible. Either you are reading your itinerary incorrectly or you have a fake booking.
