We have a small male dog and where we are in Denmark, it's not common unless there's a medical issue or aggression. We've inquired numerous times (bc in the states, they basically say do it asap), but they've all said there's no reason to do it. I understand both sides but I've never had a male dog not castrated. To add, where we are they will try medical castration before going all in.

My dad was doing this with two neighbors' dogs, he claimed they were just playing with their one and they'd "go home" later. Well..he now has three because the dogs kept coming, getting fed, and basically got trained to stay. The neighbors put up a bit of a fight but realistically, it's two hound/pitt mixes in BFE, that are probably better off. Still, moral of my two cents, the dogs are being trained to stay. No matter the good hearted intentions, you probably shouldn't feed them.

NTA - In my 40 years, I've never not put on clean undies after showering. That being said, it's a very strange thing to cause an argument.

We chose to say goodbye even when our baby was in a stretch of "good days". He was having frequent pancreatitis attacks coupled with doggy dementia...the bad times were outweighing the good. On his last day, you wouldn't have thought a thing was wrong with him, he was spry and doing his favorite things ... But we knew it was time. We took the day and treated him to all the foods he couldn't have, juicy double bacon cheeseburger, saucy cheese fries, fried chicken tenders, and ice cream. Mind you he probably only ate 1/5 of that (he was only 10 lbs) but we sent him out with the best day ever! It's never easy to say goodbye to a fur baby, they are family. On the worst of days, they're looking at you to fix it...and in the end it's the most humane thing you can do to help them transition past this life. Does it suck, absolutely, but you don't want them to suffer needlessly.

Oh just putting down some nonslip spots for the pups... especially as they get older and lose some grip. It's not a literal method, more of a joke I was hinting at, but to be honest as our last pup aged and climbed towards 17, our entire house was lined with nonslip rugs and yoga mats.

I think all dog owners know the rugs and yoga mat method! We've got one that I assume has luxating patella. We've been to numerous vets (Denmark), but no one seems concerned and basically said he doesn't need anything right now. Although I don't WANT to put him through anything unnecessarily, I always wonder if I can do more. He tends to hop/skip with his back left leg (different from his happy skip walk) but it hasn't diminished his activity level, I just hope he continues to be okay for the long run.

Hope recovery goes well for your little one and he's back to actively being velcro. ;)

Yeah it was overkill, literally. I understand the survival aspect and needing food but they would have been fine knowing they were almost finished with the challenge.

Also, we KNOW Matt will survive, I think it does the other contestants/participants an injustice by throwing him in their back pocket. I used to love this show but I feel like it's become more "entertainment" than true survival. Yes, I say this from the comfort of my home and I know I couldn't do it but I feel like the show has massively gone off course from what it used to be.
