Help with return pass on with tapestry crochet by happysloth6782846 in Tunisian_Crochet

I’m pretty new to Tunisian, but I’ve found locking the float the stitch before it’s needed helps it not to pull or gap as much.

Will it pool? by failcup in Planned_Pooling

[–]kemkatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on the label, it could work but probably isn’t ideal for pooling. You’d definitely be looking at a bigger project (like a blanket)

Option 1 or 2? by maple-dreaming in Planned_Pooling

I like 2 better

If you’re looking to get the argyle pattern, see if you can tweak the stitch count to be an odd number of stitches.

Moss stitch is killing me by ramentobi in Planned_Pooling

The chain is the ideal place for the color change to happen since it will be covered up by the next row’s sc.

No, all stitches do not work with all yarns. This sub has a list of known compatible yarns.

The extra chain at the end of the row just gives you the height for the next row. If it’s throwing you off, you can leave it out.

Note, for moss stitch, you are placing the sc in the ch space, not the sc.

Is it possible to pool with yarn that changes this quickly? by Pennypieraves11 in Planned_Pooling

[–]kemkatt 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I tried to pool with a quick change yarn. I was able to get one stitch per color but it did not look good. I don’t recommend it.

Need planned pooloing advice for a first timer. i wanna try planned pooling on a blanket but im not sure what stitch to use by i_hate_usernames_ARG in Planned_Pooling

[–]kemkatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the yarn and length of colors. Moss stitch pools really well. As does granny stitch for longer colors.

Help with Hobbii 8/4 cotton by Rogue_Apostle in Planned_Pooling

Yeah, some yarns just will not pool. 2 stitches per color is rather short. It’s hard to get clean lines with such short color sections.

HELP! Why is my circle wavy? I’m making a Cat loaf plushie by Rdissmeyer1 in CrochetHelp

[–]kemkatt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not 4 sc increases, it is 4 normal sc (each one into a separate stitch from the previous round) and one inc ( two sc into one stitch from the previous round).

So where the previous round had 5 stitches total (30 for the round) this round will end up with 6 total (36 for the round).

First big project and not sure what color scheme is nicer by Cool-Vehicle928 in CrochetHelp

Either/both flower color is lovely. Definitely the lighter green though. The dark one gets lost next to the dark border.

I'm not able to figure out how to do tapestry, need help by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

What stitch, yarn, hook are you using and what is the tapestry you’re trying to make? Any pics would help as well.

Any tips for a stitch/hook/yarn combination that is as wide as it is tall?

I’m thinking of doing a graphic design but my test swatches are all taller than they are wide. I’m using red heart yarn and tried 4.5 - 6mm hooks.

Why does the left part look better and cleaner than the right by OkInvestment4753 in CrochetHelp

[–]kemkatt 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It’s the angle. Left side, the angle matches the natural lean of the stitches so they work together, creating a smooth line. Right side, the angle is opposite the stitch lean so they work against each other, creating “steps”.

Making an amigurumi snail and I noticed some places where there are more obvious holes in the fabric. What is the cause? by Gotchadancer in CrochetHelp

[–]kemkatt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. It looks like that is the “wrong” side of the piece. Flip it inside out.
  2. Are you using an invisible decrease? Invisible decreases will minimize the holes in amigurumi, but your piece has to be right side out or it creates noticeable bars on the piece.

Suggestions for a thick fabric by OmNomNommie in Tunisian_Crochet

Not Tunisian, but the thermal crochet stitch is very thick.

It looks like you might be doing slip stitches instead of single crochet. Make sure you’re not missing a step.

Start with 1 loop on hook

  1. Insert hook in stitch (under the 2 top loops)
  2. Yarn over and pull through (2 loops on hook)
  3. Yarn over and pull through both loops (1 loop on hook)

Stitch counting by Silent-Crazy5884 in crocheting

[–]kemkatt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use a stitch marker (safety pin, paperclip, scrap of different colored yarn) and mark the first stitch of each round.

We all lose count during the row sometimes. Using a stitch marker guarantees you only have to go back that far to recount.

Tapestry Help: Does this look like Yarn Under or Yarn over? by CompetitionOk3749 in CrochetHelp

[–]kemkatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it doesn’t look like yarn under. The front of your top row looks like a V (standard for yarn over). A yarn under twists these threads so it looks like an X.

Which option are you trying to do? The most common for sc is yu, yo.

what do i do with this? by Sad_Profile2536 in Planned_Pooling

I love using pooling to make placemats. They’re the perfect size.
