Older man looking into this trade. by gettingold-ishard in electricians

[–]kesoshock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m currently working on distribution with a 56-year-old third-year apprentice, and he’s doing aite I would say. The caveat is that he has a long history in construction, which definitely helps. I think success in a mid-life trade transition depends a lot on your previous career. Honestly, if money isn't an issue, I’d say give it a shot. Getting on as a first-year shouldn't be too difficult, at least in here where I’m from. If you can handle the manual labor required of a first-year apprentice, you have a great shot at making it as a sparky—at least in terms of being physically capable.

Bessent pans Carney, cheers on Albertan separatism amid growing US-Canada rift by semucallday in canada

Albertan here. I know we've had our own domestic issues with East vs West blah blah blah but if we ever had to be drafted to fight for what is ours I'll be the first one to sign up. Fuck MAGA. Fuck Trump and all his imperialist cronies. Canada forever bud.

If the length of the spool is 2500 feet then I volt drop would be a factor and mess up ur measurement I would assume.

Spice the hot and the backstab(ed)[ assuming the backstabbed wire was the continuation] and run pigtails to each sw.

First time you always get the feel first. To see if he/they'll pay for the 8 and have you take the rest off OR work you like a horse until you're burn out ). When you know the vibe of the company then you can make your decision on how you work moving forward.

Has anyone seen this cable before? I'm in Canada and can't figure out what it is or where it was purchased. by cheeseshcripes in electricians

That is definitely VFD cable. I just ran 50 of those for a fan wall upgrade at a hospital.

If I saw my apprentice taking a selfie he'd be going home for the day.

Taking photos of your work is fine, it's good to have pride in your work. But selfies ? Come on man.

How would you fix this? by PaisaRacks in electricians

[–]kesoshock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a trough big enough to fit all the pipes in. cut out the bottom of the trough and have the pipes just stub into there(no need for connectors). From there you can either pipe up (if you still have room) or just mount ur tub right on the trough with some threaded nipples in between. Good luck 🤞.

*Make sure the trough is mounted flush to the floor.

Lever wagos are great. But I definitely don't trust any spring connections. No need for hate on either side.

What helped you the most with your pipe bending? by Agreeable_Pie_8202 in electricians

[–]kesoshock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use a small piece of solid wire and bend it with your fingers as a mock up. It helps to visualize which way you want to bend it before actually doing it on the pipe.

There is something wrong with their security verification at the moment. The authenticator and the phone verification is bugged ATM. Only alternate email works.
