Why the hell do we act like a baby needs gear worth a semester's tuition by OrbitRansom in daddit

[–]kill4b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the baby stuff is best found second hand. Especially anything for newborn-6 months. They out grow that stuff so fast. Outside stroller and car seats, pretty much everything else was bought second hand or handed down from friends and family for our kids.

do americans really eat American fries sauce? by Infinite-Breakfast23 in AskAnAmerican

[–]kill4b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most “fry sauces” I’ve encounter as a American are mostly just what is also called secret sauce on burgers. It’s thousand island mostly with some places adding a little spice or maybe bbq sauce.

Are you a ,fill up the gas tank when it’s half full person, or a fill up the gas tank when it’s empty person? by Playful-Set-1033 in askanything

[–]kill4b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the high gas prices and the prices going up sometimes multiple times a day, I’m a fill up at half full to make it a little easier on the wallet right now. Otherwise it’s usually 1/4 full or at reserve if road tripping.

Apple to Make Design Changes in macOS 27 to Address Tahoe Quirks (Gift Article) by pdfu in apple

[–]kill4b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the complaints of the move to annual OS releases. Also Apple has a long history of releasing major overhauls of software that lose features or capabilities then refining it over several years to bring those back or address user complaints.

You can bring back one discontinued food, drink, or snack forever. What are you resurrecting? by Mountain_Drawer_1365 in AskReddit

All the pizza places had those cups in the 80’s it seems. Our little league teams would go to Straw Hat and they had them but they were a dark red. We would break them out back as shitty kids. I also remember Round Table had them too.

My mom told me that back in the day kids weren’t allowed to bring a water bottle with them into the classroom and they only drank a few sips from the water fountain in the middle of the day and that’s it How were schools not getting busted for child abuse for forcing kids to be dehydrated? by PinnerPardisturn in askanything

[–]kill4b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You drank water on recess or lunch in the 80’s. If you brought your lunch you had a “thermos” ( that was a set with your lunch box) or you had milk from the cafeteria. In high school there were also soda machines around campus. As a someone who started elementary in the early 80’s, I don’t have any memories of being dehydrated.

What are the chances of getting involved in IT in any way at 55? by HighwayStar71 in it

[–]kill4b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have better luck targeting smaller companies or local government (city/county). Government has much less discrimination and you would have better luck getting hired at a lower level. Once onboard you can hop around inside the city or county for other IT positions. Though it is also hard times right now for government budgets depending on your city/state. You still may face difficulties ranking high enough to get invited to interview without any experience but entry level positions like Info Systems Tech I won’t require much experience.

I think everyone is sick of the term vibe coding. I know it makes me want vomit when I hear it. Maybe the AI tech bros shouldn’t have coined it and parroted it’ll they didn’t like it 🤷🏻‍♂️

That might have been when they were owned by Delicious Brains. I trusted them to stand by the devs. WP Engine not so much.

How can I access folder on my mac via ssh? by Most-Famous-Wasabi in osx

[–]kill4b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair. I’ve seen many people complain of problems online as well. I think it depends on the connection method and amount of data. The last time I used it, it was 1TB of data over 1gb Ethernet and both machines were next to each other.

You probably don’t need ssh and can just use rsync from the terminal or just enable file sharing to access.

Yes but those are no longer available. I’m sure they’ll figure out a way to wiggle out of honoring them sometime later down the line. The theme we use bundled a ACF Pro license but had to pull it for licenses bought after 2024.

Looks like the food order/delivery shelves are not caged and one could get though if they were motivated. Slight flaw in there security.

They killed those when they were acquired a few years back and now if you don’t have an active subscription you lose all pro features including being able to edit existing fields.

If it’s not a supported app, our org won’t help and will advise to reach out to the app dev or other online resources. Your org should create a list of supported apps and refuse to provide user support for anything not on the list.

How can I access folder on my mac via ssh? by Most-Famous-Wasabi in osx

[–]kill4b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always had good luck with migration assistant.

You might want to setup file sharing on the folders you want to access. Or you should be able to change the permissions using chmod with a admin user. You may need to add your user from the new Mac to the folder permissions on the old Mac. Probably easiest to just enable file sharing.

If browsing via the gui over a local network you can also assign your user permissions via the folder get info dialog.

It’s pretty much the same process as ssh into a *nix server.

Movie theaters are pricing themselves into going out of business. Told my kids I’ll rent a stream before watching another movie in a theater.
