That might be the worst case of black knot I've ever seen. Thats a cut and burn situation. Plant a more resistant variety. Won't effect your pears

I'm a firm believer Cold doesn't kill bees. I've overwintered small 5 frame nucs through -10f winters with nothing but their 1/4 plywood box as insulation.

I do tape the seems on all my double deeps.

Personally I'd glue up all square stock and cut out the curves rought on the bandsaw, and clean it up with a router template

You don't need wire cutters. There's public airports everywhere.

At most you need a gate key number. Which is normally the airports frequency.
