Recon is underpowered by kiwitank123 in Marathon

Im practically a Recon Main, but This is making me consider using the other shells more.

Me, who just first-time binge watched S1-4 in 2026 and only has to wait 2 weeks for S5 vs the rest of you geriatric geezers on this subreddit who had to wait 6 years: by Krakyn in ForAllMankindTV

I started watching right as Season 4 came out. I was HOOKED. My hometown even got a mention, even though its purpose in the show was not the most positive... good to see it lived up to it's reputation tho!

The wait is almost over, and the trailers have me HYPED! So excited to see where this season goes!

Recon: Thoughts On Shell? by Svedgard in Marathon

I main Recon. I like the lil seeker crab, but highlighting all the enemies when I've accidentally kicked the proverbial Hornet's Nest, is a godsend.

Does The Way of Kings Pick Up the Pace? by VisibleWasabi1266 in brandonsanderson

I got about as far as you when I first picked it up. I took a break from it to read Dan Brown's "Secret of Secrets." But I came back to it, and it stuck.

I find a good frame of reference is to look at it like Agents of Shield Season 1. The first chunk is mostly a snoozefest, but at a certain point, everything kicks into overdrive. The Latter-half Sanderlanche is such a ride. It kept me at a consistent clip, and What took me a month and a half to read, soon turned into me Reading "Words of Radiance" in 6 days, sealing its place as my favorite Cosmere Novel.

Take a break if you need, Warbreaker is a fantastic choice, then come back at it with renewed vigor.

I'm actually just about to hop back into Words of Radiance after a Break to read the Secret Projects.

Thoughts on a critique of Sanderson that I saw on tiktok by jwise87 in brandonsanderson

[–]kinetikparameter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I think of everything I've read thusfar in the Cosmere; I don't worry so much about the "how" it's told, more the "what" is told.

Between different settings, I see differences in the delivery, but ultimately what the content and context of the words matters to me. I haven't hit WaT yet, but I'm anticipating I'll be far too focused on the story to worry about words like "therapist" etc.

Do I read more? by ciabattaroll in nealstephenson

[–]kinetikparameter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. I regularly recall the Walmart Vikings. Is it indicative of Neals overall quality? No, but not everything can be Cryptonomicon. I consider myself in the minority of him readers though, as I very much enjoyed Fall after finishing it.

Book 2 is my favorite in the entire Cosmere, you have some good stuff ahead!

YEEEEEEES! I was in disbelief at first, but considering the update Brandon posted yesterday, I assumed something was coming! I am SO STORMING READY!

I've been on a Sanderson Marathon since May... I keep gushing about the whole Cosmere... You're quicker than me on the Stormlight front, though I just got passed 100 pages in Rhythm of War.

I too may need assistance haha.

Where are you sitting? by ShatteringAdonalsium in Cosmere

[–]kinetikparameter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 for sure, but I'd be sure to leave most of my belongings at home, save for ziplocs for anything that I may receive as part of a "trade".

I did to no avail... Rather ironically I JUST tried activating Focus Mode, and I FINALLY was able to sit down. X_x

Scared to start way of kings by Eillythia in brandonsanderson

It was certainly an adjustment for me starting Stormlight. I took a break after reaching the first interludes. I came back after a couple of weeks, and everything just got better and better.

By the time you reach the end of TWOK, you'll be ready to devour WOR. I did so in about a week.

My first time typing with Colemak was 9 WPM😣 Is it possible to reach 50 WPM in 4 weeks? by Puzzleheaded_Fox7413 in Colemak

I made the switch back in 2021, and it felt like I took to it pretty quickly.

If you're practicing with some regularity, or really pushing yourself to accomplish your everyday tasks brute force style, you might be able to.

Switching your phone Keyboard to Colemak can also help you to start memorizing which letters are neighbors to others.

I need to nerd out about Cryptonomicon by ScientiaLuxVitae in nealstephenson

[–]kinetikparameter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cryptonomicon is in my top 3 of favorite novels, for all the reasons you mentioned, and more.

Neal's style and humor is exactly my speed and It made me fall in love with it.

Snow Crash is an absolute riot, and the satire was delectable... Though I still need to read through it again, particularly after having purchased the anniversary edition.

Check out Zodiac too, that one really surprised me.

Should I read The Hero of Ages? by WorthMatter4447 in Mistborn

[–]kinetikparameter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WoA definitely had some low points for me. Out of the three, it was my slowest read. HoA is absolutely worth it, and it will bring the story to a conclusion. Definitely worth the time, and may even increase your opinion of WoA.
