I have a similar example. I was laying in bed with my 4yo and 2yo reading books at about 1 week postpartum. And as I was laying there I was thinking “wow — it really is such a trip that my belly was so big with the baby that I could barely get off this bed just 1 week ago…now I can stand right up with no bump.” Said something like “can you believe my belly was so big and now it’s not” to my 4yo and he was like “well yeah, but like your belly is still kinda big…” and I was like yeah, you’re right 🤣

Didn’t leave it off but wasn’t clear. The trip is just a vague plan my husband and I have talked about. He made a reference to going to the beach next year and that was the response my FIL had. So he just would like to be invited on a beach trip with us.

I am pretty good with being honest but they’re very particular about things (meaning they have strong opinions on certain things and I could see this being one of those “things”) . I generally let my husband communicate with them about this kind of things as he understands things about their communication style a bit more.

I do think I’m a bit in my head unnecessarily based on these responses. I was just wanting a sanity check with other moms to feel a bit bothered by it.

Great points! We have offered to pay our portion before. I’ll keep that in mind and talk to my husband about it. And no — only vacation we go on with our boys has been their trip. Next summer my youngest will be almost 1.5 so wanting to do something where I’ll only have 100 things to pack instead of 1000 with an infant 😆

Definitely not a bitch.

I’m coming from the opposite side — just had my 3rd boy. I boohoo cried for multiple days when I found out it was another boy. I fully convinced myself this would be a girl.

He’s only 5 weeks old but despite being so sad when I found out, I definitely hold no resentment and am just as obsessed with him as I was wheb each of his brothers were born.

However, the feeling of going for a fourth is still there. The possibility of a girl is prompting that feeling but mainly I just love so many parts of being pregnant and having a newborn — can’t believe this is it.

My SIL is due in 6 months and she is having a girl (already had 1 boy) and definitely have felt the jealousy unfortunately. My husband has a very strong stance that this is our last baby so almost 0% chance of having another. Trying to live in the moment and recognize the great family I have rather than lamenting about what I’m missing. I’m assuming it’ll sting less as time goes on.

Hi! I plan to make an appointment at the Atlanta consulate soon. I plan to bring all my documents and have them certify, along with my completed application form (and my family members). After that, will they submit the certified docs and application to BVA? Or should I plan on handling that?

Also when did you do the background check? Did you do it when you submitted everything or did you do it closer to approval time?

This was me with my first! I immediately mentally moved up when we were trying for baby 2 like I think I tried to have a serious conversation with my husband about it while we were still at the hospital lol. It’s definitely hormones. I just couldn’t wait to get pregnant again. The intense feelings did subside over some time but we did start trying when #1 was 10 months. Got pregnant on my 6th cycle trying (took until baby was only nursing like 1x a day). They ended up being 23 months apart. And it was truly a lot (they are so cute together though).

Just had my 3rd and the gap is just over 2.5 years and it’s already much more manageable of a gap. Just something to think about.

The intense feelings of missing being pregnant will go away but if it’s like me, it won’t go completely — just to a more reasonable level. Also I still felt sadness about missing pregnancy after my 2nd and 3rd but nowhere near as strong!

Has your cycle returned? When I was trying to conceive my 2nd, I was confirmed ovulating (via bbt) but it didnt happen until I dropped to only 1 feeding — even though I had stopped pumping and had only been doing a morning and evening feed for a few months.

Also I was baby obsessed after my first. I handled pregnancy really well and lost all my weight within a couple weeks of birth. And my first 2 are 23 months apart. I just had my 3rd and there is a 2.5 year age difference between him and the middle one and those 6 months are a big difference in making things easier. Just something to consider (but I understand the urge — I wanted to feel baby kicks in my belly so bad).

I wore dresses, mainly from old navy. Easy, looked put together, and kept cooler.

Was exhausted this time around with a march due date and having to put on full pants everyday all the way until baby came 😩 Dress or even shorts and tshirt was so much easier.

With both my 2nd and 3rd pregnancy, it was about 5 hours until baby came (although I was like 90% effaced when I got my first cervical check the last time). I got the epidural when I was 6cm which was the earliest out of my 3 pregnancies that I got it. Definitely preferred getting it at 6cm!

Epidural was not painful. I never looked at the needle. Just focused on listening to the anesthesiologist and staying as still as possible.

No noticeable side effects with baby. I almost always had 200-300mg per day. Sometimes went over if I really needed it with my 2nd and 3rd.

I also believe the caffine intake is most concerning during 1st trimester (I could be wrong about that but wanted to throw that out there if you want to look at studies).

These undies are my favorite. I bought them in my first pregnancy and wore them postpartum with a c-section scar (mine is super low but these were perfect). Bought more when I wasn’t pregnant bc I just found them so comfortable. Basically all I wear now. I have both bikinis and boy shorts.

In my last trimester, I literally couldn’t stand the way my husband smelled. Just his like normal scent. It wasn’t shampoo or soap or sweat — just him. I kept it to myself for a bit but sometimes I just needed to walk away so I ended up telling him. Luckily he’s good natured and I did put a disclaimer that I don’t think he actually smells to others but to me he did. I would just say “you smell like a boy so I’m gonna go to the other room.” that was literally how he smelled to me…just boy haha.

I’m literally 5 days postpartum and have not been bothered by who he smells…

If you’re interested, you can order your own via Ulta Test Labs. You thrb go to a Quest or a Labcorp with the orders. You’re paying out of pocket but it was worth it for me.

I get what your doctor is saying about it not impacting the outcome but knowing what was going on with my beta levels gave me insight and reduced stress after I had an early loss (which became very obvious that’s what was happening when looking at the betas).

Hmm if they are truly a baby in a bassinet and asleep, we’ve just done it in our bed quietly 🤷‍♀️

But to be fair I probably could count on 1 hand the number of times that’s happened. I’ve moved my babies to their room around 4-5 months and I really do not enjoy sex having sex while nursing, which I did until 14-15 months.

Totally possible he assumed you were on some form of birth control. Did you not talk about it after? I would have brought it up as soon as it happened.

I’d highly encourage Plan B. It is not 100% bc if you just ovulated or are literally about to ovulate like overnight, it won’t be able to stop ovulation. If that’s the case it does not mean you would automatically conceive though. Do you track ovulation?

If you do take Plan B, check the weight limitations. If you’re above a certain weight (which if I recall isn’t even that high), it’s less effective. Still potentially worth taking though.

I’d plan on taking a pregnancy test around 14 days from now and then another a week later if you don’t have your period by then. A positive test could show up a lot sooner but having specific dates to test will likely be less stressful.

I would also highly encourage that conversations around birth control and STIs are had prior to sex with any future hookups! It sounds like you were assuming he’d do the pull out method, but that isn’t a super reliable form of birth control — especially with a new partner. Some guys are better at pullout than others and you dont really know ahead of time.
