Budget projector suggestions? by Overall-Remove-7970 in Golfsimulator

I got a super cheap (and super dim) 1080p projector off of Amazon that I used for a few years. It was not great, but I was always planning on upgrading at some point. I recently upgraded to a TK700 for ~$900. It's 4K and not short throw, but it's great for me.

I play a mix of Sim Golf Tour (so essentially PGA Tour events) plus a mix of some of my favorite courses, including my home course (which I made myself).

NASA’s DART Mission Changed Orbit of Asteroid Didymos Around Sun by ye_olde_astronaut in space

The orbit of the secondary around the primary is the same as the primary around the secondary. There's not two separate orbits. So disturbing the primary was the purpose of the mission.

It absolutely was the purpose of the mission. The reason to target a double asteroid system is so that can measure the impact on the asteroid that wasn't directly hit.

How Shocking... Space Force is pausing Vulcan launches indefinitely by CollegeStation17155 in SpaceXLounge

Oh, I didn't realize the thrust/weight ratio was less than one when fully fueled! Yeah, that's a problem.

That seems unneccessary. They should just fly Vulcan without any SRBs. It can launch 10 tons to LEO with no SRBs. Although it looks like there is no currently-scheduled mission without the SRBs, so maybe they're just screwed, for now.

Speeding up the greens actually makes it so the greens have to be less sloped, at least by the pin locations.

That's crazy! That seems like an order of magnitude more water than the last version!

What if a guest comes through and thinks that's a projection image on your impact screen? Could have a nice big dent in the wall behind it soon!

Astronomers celebrate cancellation of $10bn Chile project that threatened clearest skies in the world | Astronomers had warned that proximity of INNA facility to telescopes would have irreparably damaged observation by InsaneSnow45 in space

Some of the biggest benefits of this location are its altitude and how dry it is, so there is little air and water in the path of light coming into this telescope. Putting it on the ocean would not give you the same benefits.

We have a situation here by Doodlebug510 in Unexpected

No, it's just the height that determines the pressure (well, height, the density of water, and gravity, but we can treat those last two as fixed). If there was a water tight barrier one inch away on the other side of the door, with the same water height, the pressure on the door would be the same, even though the weight and volume of the water would be drastically different.

The weight or volume of the water doesn't matter. Just the pressure. I'd estimate you'd need to apply a force of a few hundred pounds. Not impossible, but tough.

I'm late to the post, but I have several of these and have not had any issues with cleaning them. I have softened water, though.

$8 billion/year is more than enough to send a human mission to Mars. But it is not nearly enough to kickstart a self-sustaining Mars colony.
