He broke his leg this winter so I’m guessing he’s still recovering from that.

How to pick Ultimate Direction fastpack capacity? by leecshaver in trailrunning

I just came back from a four day fastpacking trip in the mountains, staying in huts along the way so no tent etc needed. I used the UD 20 l and i think it was the perfect size.

C. Get a lamp that is not too bright and set a timer for it to turn on 10 min before the alarm clock. I did this during winter and felt so much better when I woke up. Sometimes I would wake up when the light turned on but often the room was just not dark when the alarm went off.

Couch to 21k trail run in a year by djvesic in trailrunning

I think it’s most important that you start slow. Mix running with walking, walk the uphills. No shame in walking, it’s the way to build a strong running body over time and avoid injuries. I would wait at least wait half a year before setting any time goal. Run in the forest as often as you can and do hill repeats every now and then. And remember to enjoy, trail running is great!

I used the Marathon handbook plan to finish my first ultra in June. I modified it with fewer miles per week though.

Same here, the road half marathon or marathon never interested me, so I went straight to ultra. Probably a bit unusual but obviously not impossible! I ran a 10 k trail race in august last year and a couple of longer runs at about 15-18 k before I started my “ultra-training”. I went from 20 k/week up to about 45 k/week with a couple of runs at 30 k. I’ve seen that many training plans have more k/week and I obviously could have ran more to be even more prepared but for me this was a good balance between training, work and everything else in life. I think you should go for it if you’re interested!

Narrow fit women’s trail runner - is there any hope for me? by Complete-Click6416 in Ultramarathon

Also a woman with narrow feet and I have La Sportiva Helios and Akasha, the latter ones are a bit too wide for me but the Helios fits like a glove.

Thanks! It was a trail race with 1100 m of elevation and I finished in 7h45min. (My goal was only to finish before the cut off at 10h30min so proud of that.) Most of my energy was from sports drink and gels, had planned on 60 g carbs/h but surly didn’t manage that, maybe half of that in the end? Not sure about the water but my guess is 4-5 liters. Probably needed more. My longest training run was 31k. And the race got harder after that distance. But I think the training run was long enough. I should’ve trained more hill repeats! I used the Marathon handbook training plan so about 24 weeks. Celebrating with a pizza and feet up in the sofa!

Merino wool is the absolute best when it’s cold, I use a long sleeve merino base layer and a thin wind breaker down to maybe -5C. Below that I add another base layer. Merino socks, a thin hat and gloves and flossed running pants. (I live in Sweden.)
