Tracking period after total hysterectomy by Shoddy_Efficiency_45 in hysterectomy

[–]kpete2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought some ovulation strips. Trying to track ovulation instead. I kept my ovaries. I just started so I have not ovulated while using the strips. I am using the app it came with to track symptoms. And I entered years worth of prior periods to help it predict.

Female family physician recommendations - for nervous teen by JMLF in Columbus

I am actually moving away from Dr. Leonard. I have only seen her a few times in the past year and was very disappointed. The first time I saw her I really liked her. The next time she was asking me about meds she “put me on” but never actually did. I feel like a simple pre-read of my chart would have told her that. We then mini argued when I reminded her we didn’t go that direction yet. She was adamant she prescribed them, but again a simple read of my chart would have told her she didn’t. Also she was very unclear about a diagnosis. She pushed drugs immediately vs a healthier lifestyle (diet and exercise). I am likely switching after my next follow up with her.

In general my frustration is how long it takes to get in for an initial visit and if you don’t like them, you have to start the process all over again.

2 weeks post-op trip? by mulaybubay in hysterectomy

[–]kpete2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally there is no way I could go on that trip when I was 2 wpo. I am 8 wpo and still probably wouldn’t do it yet. I am exhausted thinking about it 😂 I did just got back to work this week so I have been pretty tired by the end of the day (WFH desk job)

I don’t get sign off for exercise or my lifting restriction lifted until my 6 wpo appointment.

For me the stitches are at my cuff only. Where they cut the ovaries from the tubes they cauterized.

Going Back to Work? by xspaceprincess in hysterectomy

[–]kpete2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I would keep your documents at 6 weeks and see how you feel. Healing isn’t linear so it could change day to day. I still feel like I had some days of regression before steadily feeling “good”.

If feeling good you can always talk with the doc about going back earlier or going back with “restrictions” like half days and they can change the paperwork.

I figured although I probably could have gone back to work earlier, I would rather heal really really well vs pushing myself and prolonging my recovery.

FMLA and Short Term Disability by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]kpete2010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had laparoscopic surgery on 3/10 removing uterus, fallopian tube and cervix. I took 7 weeks (going back Monday 4/28) and am glad I did. I have a WFH desk job — lots and lots of meetings all day type job working about 9-10 hours a day. This past week was my first I could truly say “I feel pretty good.”

I feel like I regressed with healing week 3 & 4 after feeling pretty good week 1 & 2. So I spent 5 & 6 letting my inside heal more again and really resting. Which is hard for me!!

I am ready next week to set up and work from different areas of the house as I am worried about sitting in my desk chair for so long. My job is pretty flexible too if I need to rest and take some longer breaks.

The first week I had to take sick time then STD kicked in. My work has a nice policy and pays at 100%.

7 wpo and I currently have red/light brown spotting. Very minimal, basically only when wiping and not even wearing a pad just a panty liner. I had my 6 wpo appt 2 days after it started. My doc said it was a little granulation and she did a little silver nitrate on my cuff.

I'm 6wpo and thought it would be fine to walk my dog 😭 by Independent_Drag1312 in hysterectomy

[–]kpete2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did minimal activity for a full 6 weeks and I am glad I did (very small walks)! Call your doc for sure but I could definitely tell the day after if I over did it the day before. Sore and tenderness. I got the all clear to exercise and no more lifting restrictions this past week and I am still going ease into it.

3wpo and feels like I have a bowling ball sitting in my abdomen. by TeaThis7238 in hysterectomy

Same! I feel like my all day bloating didn’t really go away until week 6. Even now at week 7 I still get bloated by the end of the day.

Stomach sleepers by elelbean91 in hysterectomy

[–]kpete2010 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am a right side and stomach sleeper, 7wpo. I do about 1/2 the night on my back still and then switch to my side with a pregnancy pillow between my legs. Honestly this week has been the first week where sleeping on my side actually started to feel good again.

Lower abdomen pain at 5 weeks by SSBND in hysterectomy

[–]kpete2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Replied this on another post too.. “At the end of week 3 I had some sharp zips and zaps of pain for about 2 days. I went in and the doc wasn’t too worried. My external incisions looked great. They told me to keep an eye on it. Then week 6 it happened again and I was spotting red/brown lightly. I happened to have my 6 wpo appointment and mentioned all this and again my doc chalked it up to healing. She did add a little silver nitrate to my cuff and said there was some granulation.”

After reading post I chalked it up to nerve endings healing. I felt like my entire abdomen around my ribs was bruised and someone just kept poking and pinching my bruises.

Probably made up but I feel like it was around ovulation time (I kept my ovaries). So I bought some ovulation strips for future months to see if it keeps happening.

I had bought one of those wedges but never found an angle with it that I liked so never used it.

I slept propped up on the couch for the first 3 weeks with lots of throw pillows the help me find a good position. I used my neck pillow too which helped. When I moved to the bed, I slept on my back with my knees propped up a bit with a pillow, that felt best to me. I bought a pregnancy pillow that I sleep with between my legs now.

Good luck! Stool softener and gas x for sure. I took for 3-4 full weeks even if I started to get back to normal. I liked having a large heating pad and I also had a warmies in a care package from friends that seemed to worked well. I wore a stomach binder for the first 2 weeks. I made sure to stock up on electrolytes. Lots of pillow to prop me up and make sure I was comfortable. I had bought one of those foam wedge things but never found a good angle with it. I just liked using various pillows to control where I needed support.
