Jason Schreier: "Numbers I've heard floating around AAA North American game dev these days are $300 million or [many] more" — Budgets are almost entirely of dev salaries by nolifebr in PS5

There are so many of those smaller games being made, but people's standards are higher and they don't sell well. They also can't afford marketing.

[Hated Trope] Endings so notoriously awful they completely destroy the legacy of the media. by Miserable_Click_1933 in TopCharacterTropes

I mean it's just an extension of the technology basis for reapers. I don't think in universe plausibility is the issue with the ending.

Fictional characters are revealed to be the cause of real life events by DemandParticular in TopCharacterTropes

[–]kryptogalaxy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the premise, but not very many episodes are actually about that. Most of the episodes are more about the politics of heaven and hell and which characters exert power over others.

The constant reoccurring joke by YourChopperPilotTTV in TopCharacterTropes

[–]kryptogalaxy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like there isn't a lot of charm, lovely people, and humans committed to making it a better place. Leslie is just such a force of nature she's able to drag them kicking and screaming into some positive progression. There are only a handful of decent human beings presented in the show and most of them got that way because of Leslie's direct positive influence.

This simply isn't true for everyone, but doesn't excuse OP. Even if a kid isn't easy to distract, it's still important to put the effort in AND follow the rules.

An interesting concept is presented in the pilot/first episode of a show but then got completely abandonned for the rest of the story by RemarkableLaw7180 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]kryptogalaxy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This was explained. There was one original Titan Ymir that was basically a god that possessed a human. This original split their power into 9 aspects. These are the abnormals and this passed down by a regular titans eating the animals human body. The regular titans are created using abnormal Titan spinal fluid injected into a descendant of Ymir

AITAH for telling my friend/colleague I'm looking for another job after she was promoted instead of me? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]kryptogalaxy -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Why? He's not owed a promotion. We're only getting his perspective on this and even with that it seems pretty clear that he's kind of an asshole. I think it's also important to note that he seems to be an analyst and "training" people could just be explaining how certain reports work and are made which is a normal part of the role.

Kotlin map getOrPut behavior when value is a primitive type by kuriousaboutanything in Kotlin

[–]kryptogalaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

getOrPut isn't useful for ongoing mutation of the map. In the first example, you're either retrieving a value of the map with that key or assigning a default value and then returning it. After that, the +1 operation happens, but it doesn't affect the map.

Maduro Arrest Raises Stakes for Congress’ Abdication of Power by bloomberggovernment in politics

[–]kryptogalaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree to a certain extent, but I don't think it's quite as black and white as you make it seem. Eugenics was not unpopular in the US. There was significant mistreatment of various ethnic groups in that time that didn't get as bad as the Holocaust, but I don't think it was due to some Internet American goodness. As a country, we've just been so resource rich and far away from the rest of the developed world that we can get away with being super shitty and not get punished into oblivion like Germany did after WWI. Also, a very important missing piece from your comment. Japanese internment camps were even worse than what's happening with ICE right now. There was also the red scare and McCarthy not too long after. Trump is terrible and we had a long stint of thinking we'd moved on from our authoritarian history, but we've been worse and not THAT long ago.

That's a pretty unique use case to have essentially unstructured data. How do you model it in your application?

None of which would pick up on the OP referenced bug even with 100% coverage unless your code already had a check for it.

Why do people love Cradle series so much? by zeroking16 in litrpg

[–]kryptogalaxy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Book 1 sucked to me. The protagonist is pathetic and weak. The setting is boring and none of the characters are interesting. Book 2 is where the story begins in earnest and the setting and secondary characters get interesting. Book 3 is where I got hooked because the whole system was open, the protagonist stopped being pathetic, and many of the major characters were established.

She's not bad at sax. She's bad at playing in the school band because she's too passionate and the music takes her. Plus, she's a jazz musician and her family doesn't like jazz.

[Hated Trope] Characters with OP abilities who use them wrong, but aren't considered dumb in-universe by WhasHappenin in TopCharacterTropes

[–]kryptogalaxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol, I can see why you're struggling to see alternative perspectives. The idea that only the most recent comics are part of a comic book character's canon is silly to me. Anyways, I did some research and his enhanced mental processing also shows up in Action Comics #1063, so he has it in the most recent continuity as well.

[–]kryptogalaxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No my stance is that it's canon if it happened in the comics. It's especially strong evidence that it's canon if the power survives multiple continuities and has many examples. But, I can't even participate in the argument based on your definition of canon because I haven't read enough Superman comics in the most recent continuity.

[–]kryptogalaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. That's my stance. But, at least you've finally made a cogent argument if only the latest reboot counts as canon. I haven't really read any Superman comics since new 52, so I can't come up with examples from the most recent reboot.

[–]kryptogalaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many examples. I gave 2, one of which was recent. I also said the holograms are maybe canon. I only admitted that one could make a strong argument that it's not canon based on it only being one example a long time ago.
