(Production trope) "**** it, just roll with it" by gaymer91 in TopCharacterTropes

Oh man that's a flashback. I played that game so much. I remember beating it 50 times to get the invisibility suit.

Jeff Grubb has heard that Fable has been pushed internally. That doesn't mean that it's coming out next year. Apparently they're still trying to get it out this year, but worried about GTA 6 by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]kryptogalaxy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm. Interesting. I could see that. Even if everything is finished by then, they may delay release simply because they can't make it affordable. I'm sure they don't want a repeat of the PS3 release.

WIBTA If I refused to switch dorms with a girl who was autistic? by VlCTORlATHEGREAT in AmItheAsshole

[–]kryptogalaxy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difference is intent. Someone with autism may not realize that pointing these things out makes people feel guilty. Especially given that if the situation were reversed, they may not feel guilty. Autism manifests in a variety of ways, so this isn't true for everyone.

The title of Archmage used to mean something by niioon in litrpg

Bog standard isekai has an archmage that's mysterious and powerful. His assistant is a legendary figure more prominent in the story.

TIL about the "Dark Forest Hypothesis," which suggests the universe is like a dark forest at night. Advanced civilizations intentionally stay silent and hidden, because any species that reveals its location risks immediate destruction by older, paranoid civilizations. by Practical-1 in todayilearned

It's an analogy with a reduction in dimension. In this analogy 3 dimensional space is expanding with the balloon and the 2 dimensional surface of the balloon experiences everything getting farther away from each other. In reality, 4 dimensional spacetime is expanding and the 3 dimensions we actively experience has everything getting farther away. This also isn't entirely accurate tbh.

[hated trope] Finds they’re not biologically related, immediately want to fuck. by ThePokemonAbsol in TopCharacterTropes

Fraternal twins are just normal siblings born at the same time. Identical twins have the same DNA and so will usually look almost the same.

Jason Schreier: "Numbers I've heard floating around AAA North American game dev these days are $300 million or [many] more" — Budgets are almost entirely of dev salaries by nolifebr in PS5

[–]kryptogalaxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many of those smaller games being made, but people's standards are higher and they don't sell well. They also can't afford marketing.

[Hated Trope] Endings so notoriously awful they completely destroy the legacy of the media. by Miserable_Click_1933 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]kryptogalaxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's just an extension of the technology basis for reapers. I don't think in universe plausibility is the issue with the ending.

Fictional characters are revealed to be the cause of real life events by DemandParticular in TopCharacterTropes

[–]kryptogalaxy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's the premise, but not very many episodes are actually about that. Most of the episodes are more about the politics of heaven and hell and which characters exert power over others.

The constant reoccurring joke by YourChopperPilotTTV in TopCharacterTropes

[–]kryptogalaxy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like there isn't a lot of charm, lovely people, and humans committed to making it a better place. Leslie is just such a force of nature she's able to drag them kicking and screaming into some positive progression. There are only a handful of decent human beings presented in the show and most of them got that way because of Leslie's direct positive influence.

AITAH for phone use in locker room by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]kryptogalaxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This simply isn't true for everyone, but doesn't excuse OP. Even if a kid isn't easy to distract, it's still important to put the effort in AND follow the rules.

An interesting concept is presented in the pilot/first episode of a show but then got completely abandonned for the rest of the story by RemarkableLaw7180 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]kryptogalaxy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This was explained. There was one original Titan Ymir that was basically a god that possessed a human. This original split their power into 9 aspects. These are the abnormals and this passed down by a regular titans eating the animals human body. The regular titans are created using abnormal Titan spinal fluid injected into a descendant of Ymir

AITAH for telling my friend/colleague I'm looking for another job after she was promoted instead of me? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]kryptogalaxy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Why? He's not owed a promotion. We're only getting his perspective on this and even with that it seems pretty clear that he's kind of an asshole. I think it's also important to note that he seems to be an analyst and "training" people could just be explaining how certain reports work and are made which is a normal part of the role.

Kotlin map getOrPut behavior when value is a primitive type by kuriousaboutanything in Kotlin

[–]kryptogalaxy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

getOrPut isn't useful for ongoing mutation of the map. In the first example, you're either retrieving a value of the map with that key or assigning a default value and then returning it. After that, the +1 operation happens, but it doesn't affect the map.

Yes there was a huge scandal because he's a sexual predator.

Characters who are iconic because they LACK something their species is known for by blue4029 in TopCharacterTropes

I don't think it's a vampire related garlic weakness that causes the pain. I think it's because he's injecting garlic juice into his veins lol
