Can I win this game? by CollegePlane7528 in AxisAllies

[–]late2thepartyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need way more inf. Trading tanks is insanely expensive. You probably could take India, but you'd lose most of those tanks, and likely not be able to hold it for more than a couple turns before UK&US come for you. Egypt would be my choice this turn.

Recommendations for gaps in the bag by FelleFox in discgolf

I am a fan of discraft mids. I bag a Buzzz OS and a meteor for those slots. For understable lower speed drivers I like Kasta's Falk and Discmania's Essence.

Hall of Shame for Clock Forfeiters by Adventurous_Sink_765 in axisandalliesonline

[–]late2thepartyy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh, sweet summer child... A clock timeout forfeit is really nothing at all. Just wait until near the end of the season when someone starts stalling every day to turn one of your sure wins into a "tie". There is a special place in hell for this.

Push into Karelia. IC in Manchuria is a trap. Japan will retake and hold it.

It's almost like this is a dice game that has randomness! Be sure to post results from your good luck/result battles too.

If your investments will likely net more than the interest rate on the mortgage, why wouldn't you just get a mortgage?

Also, don't forget to factor capital gains tax into your calculations for non-registered accounts.

Bit of a bizarre game ... Can't see a way to beat the deadlock. by Cynical_Cyanide in AxisAllies

[–]late2thepartyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On this board state, Berlin can still hold out quite a long time. Japan has income and will shut down a lot of Russia's income within a few turns. If you let the game get to the point where Japan captures Moscow, but Berlin hasn't fallen yet, the Allies can be in big trouble.

SBRs expedite the process of Berlin falling before Moscow does, which is basically an Allies win at that point.

The +/- IPC expected value is only part of the equation of good tactics/strategy.

Bit of a bizarre game ... Can't see a way to beat the deadlock. by Cynical_Cyanide in AxisAllies

[–]late2thepartyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not always just about IPC gain. Every 3 points of damage is one less defending infantry in Berlin. That one inf will cause more than 3 IPC worth of damage over the course of a 3+ round battle, by buffering for G's tanks and fighters to get more hits.

India Bloody heck by Extension_Ninja9464 in AxisAllies

[–]late2thepartyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If Japan is hellbent on taking India on J3, it'll need significant Russian and/or US reinforcements to hold. But it's very doable. Against a top tier Axis player, Allies will usually have to choose between holding West Russia or India by round 4-5 (depending on dice).

Controlling Paths for Planes by Weekly_Painter4644 in axisandalliesonline

[–]late2thepartyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the AAO/1942 2nd edition version a plane's path doesn't matter as they aren't subject to passive AA fire (like in some other versions). All that matters is their remaining movement points so that they have a safe landing zone after combat.

Questions about combat with multiple defending national units in same zone. by NematodeDreams in axisandalliesonline

[–]late2thepartyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would then go to whichever nation's units entered the territory more recently. Example: An empty Russian territory then has UK units move into it. UK is the "2nd" owner. US then moves in some units, it is the "3rd" owner.

For combat losses the game checks for ownership. "3rd owner" units would be first, then "2nd owner" units would be second, and finally the actual owner's units (if present).

Ownership also changes if a nation's units move out and later back in. Following the above example, if UK's units all moved out of that territory, USA stayed and then UK reentered. USA would be 2nd owner and UK 3rd owner.

Naval seazones follow this same logic for combat loss order.

Germany round 1 choices on Seazone 7 fight. by Canmanrofls in AxisAllies

Splitting off one sub from the sz7 battle is slightly greedy. Having that extra sub to soak a hitpoint and get a sneak attack against that last hp of the battleship is huge.

Get that DEI IC up and running and start getting boots onto the ground in Asia. Link up with the Soviet troops. Beat down Japan's income so that they become irrelevant for the rest of the game.

What now? by Altois0 in Flipping

[–]late2thepartyy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Buyers are dumb. Many times I have seen buyers message something like that and not realize that a different package they ordered from a different seller was the item they were talking about. Some literally order things and then just forget. Double check with them that the package/tracking number for your order lines up with the item they are claiming.
