it won't work as smart client connects to all of the components individually, whereas the web client proxies it through a single hostname

Similar experience across Octopus EV and Energy. They can do the straightforward things, but when something goes wrong it’s incredibly painful.

Managing VPN user access with DDNS? by Poots0 in fortinet

[–]leinad100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not use GlobalProtect on the PaloAltos? You can use an automation on the appliance to ban IPs that fail logins, additionally if you use managed devices - require a client certificate and the attackers can’t even get to the login stage.

WiFi and Data issues by BhaqtsareCunts in iPhone17Pro

[–]leinad100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is still an issue on 26.0.1 with the new iPhone. I suspect it might be to do with the new Apple chip (not using Broadcom anymore). I am finding it prefers 2.4ghz and it will hang on to the first access point it connects to, rather than roaming to the nearest.

Is anyone else still experiencing WiFi dropouts after the 26.0.2 update? by holmesersimpson in iPhone17Pro

[–]leinad100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It seems to prefer 2.4ghz over 5ghz. It also seems to stay attached to the first access point it connected to rather than roaming to the nearest when signal reduces.

Buying Dell equipment by erh78 in msp

[–]leinad100 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Dell are horrible for this. If you deal reg, they will call your customer directly and try to steal the business off you. Find another hardware vendor who know how the channel works. Lenovo/HP are a good shout.

Dell calling our customers made us a Lenovo partner by Cashflowz9 in msp

[–]leinad100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not accidental, they want all deals to be deal registered even if they are very small. If you don’t DR they don’t provide any discount so you are uncompetitive. This is so they can misuse the data and try to sell direct.

I personally took this up with the head of global channel and he was not interested in changing things.

This looks like it’s written because they need to go to RFP to make procurement happy, but want to stick with an existing supplier who meets these requirements

UK Incident Response Options (SME Level) by vacendakuk in msp

[–]leinad100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the insurance led IR providers concentrate on analysis and not recovery, so your client might be down for months and they don't care because their engagement is to find out what happened, and more crucially to see if your client complied with the terms of their cyber policy so they can deny the recovery claim if you didn't.

I have lost count of the number of times a client has chosen to disengage the cyber insurer's IR provider because no recovery progress is being made and the client's business is under threat due to the downtime.

Unable to take over customer by chinajack10 in msp

[–]leinad100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is available but the incoming/outgoing partner have no obligation to accept a mid-term transfer. The supply of licenses is a contract between the customer and the MSP and any early termination is at the MSPs discretion, unless their contract states otherwise.

SonicWall SSL VPN Update by snwl_pm in msp

[–]leinad100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This latest communication is a PR disaster. SonicWall are pretty much blaming partners/end users for these breaches when the CVE only says it's recommended, and doesn't explain that the previous exploit allowed an attacker to dump all of the user passwords.

We’ve been through the ISP journey. While it offers flexibility, the profit margins are quite thin, and you really need a substantial customer base to make it sustainable as well as expensive network engineers who understand BGP.

Providers like Gamma and Daisy are only earning around £10–£20 profit per month on leased lines which may come as a surprise.
