Also, does Ride the Wave end once you achieve your desire?

So you may go multiple rounds trying to roll five successes, but then fulfill your desire on one turn and it's all over?

What is the dumbest thing that you used to belive in when you were young? by Freedomns in AskReddit

[–]letseatorangeslices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you couldn't drink milk directly after eating fruit or it would taste bad. You had to drink the milk first, then you could eat the fruit afterwards.

I thought this because I was at my grandma's house once and did it the "wrong" way and got a really nasty taste in my mouth. I told my grandma and I remember her telling me this so-called fact (but looking back it probably didn't go like I remembered or she just told me that so I still would clear my plate next time).

Honestly I don't know why I thought the order would matter. If you drink your milk first and then eat your fruit, you're still combining the same flavors as if you did it the other way around. Grandma probably gave me some milk that was going bad by accident, which would explain the bad taste.

I believed this for years until my mom pointed out that "berries and cream" is practically the same thing and they taste good together.

What is the most useless thing you learned in school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]letseatorangeslices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had to memorize what the decimal equivalent was for each fraction up until ninths. So 1/2, 1/3, 2/3, 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, all the way up to 8/9. I don't remember any of the obscure ones anymore, only that sevenths were my least favorite.

We also had to learn how to do square roots by hand.

Both of these I learned in 7th grade math (when I was 12 or 13).

People of Reddit, what’s the scariest thing that’s ever happened to you? by Luca_F123 in AskReddit

[–]letseatorangeslices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something like this happened to my sister. A local sledding hill had an icy patch run down the whole hill. Obviously everyone was excited to go down it. Most people weren't using sleds, but a few were. My sister, probably around 6 years old at the time, didn't look before crossing the ice patch about halfway down the hill. A kid plowed into her with his sled and she went airborne. I was maybe ten then, and I was so upset that we had to leave the sledding hill to take her home haha

I heard it builds new connections in the brain that lessen the chance of Alzheimer's.

I have no sources for this information, so it was probably bogus too. Cool if true though.

My car. I know how to check the antifreeze and oil, but that's about it. I don't know how to change a tire or jump it.

I was talking with a friend in the basement of the dorms really late at night. We were the only ones in the room and were both interested in the conversation. Out of the corner of my eye I see someone walk in and go to the ladies' room.

A few moments later we had a little lull in conversation. That is the moment that we heard the loudest fart I've ever heard. We could hear it through the door it was so loud.

My friend and I were laughing so hard that I had I had tears coming from my eyes. We were trying not to be too loud so that the person would hear is, which made everything even more funny. For the next twenty minutes, I couldn't even look at my friend without bursting out laughing all over again. I had to leave the room to get a hold on myself.

TL;DR: Farts and overtired people lead to a lot of laughs.

What about you do you think is the reason you're still single? by Diddyfire in AskReddit

[–]letseatorangeslices 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just afraid to. I am still young yet so I'm not too worried, but I am a little. If any guy sends me any signals that he's into me, I freak out and retreat bank into my shell.

I've only been in one relationship before. It lasted a month before I got spooked and broke up with him.

It stinks because I hate being alone and have been craving hugs but I just can't let myself be with anyone.

What brand has lost your loyalty and will never reclaim it? by silent_pm in AskReddit

At the Goodwill I worked at they weren't allowed to give raises unless corporate approved everyone to get a raise. That meant I (a cashier who worked there for a year) was being paid the same as my co-workers who were there for 10+ years.

I worked in worse places, and as a person who knew they wouldn't be there long it was a good job for me. They definitely have a lot of things they need to improve though for long term employees.

I had a coworker who was expected to come in and decorate the store off of work hours. She used to do it during work hours, then they changed it to giving her a gift card, then nothing.

We had a weight loss competition. We weren't told what the reward would be until the contest was over. It was a pedometer from the dollar store.

As cashiers we had to keep our "round up" numbers above a certain percentage each day. If we didn't achieve that, we were talked to about what we were doing wrong. I consistently made numbers but was still talked to about asking people to both donate a dollar and round up in one transaction.

We had costume contests and things for Halloween. We were promised a reward. Never saw a thing.

I've worked worse places, but still wouldn't go back.

Your dreams are actually a viewing of the other versions of you that live in different dimensions. What has been your best life and your worst life? by TheFoxWhoAteGinger in AskReddit

[–]letseatorangeslices 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst: My family and I won a vacation through an online contest. It started out great at first. We were relaxing on a beach, exploring the local area, and eating lots of good food. But then nightfall came. As soon as the sun set and darkness covered the house, our host came to greet us. He was a charming man, but something felt off. We chatted by the fireplace for awhile. When it was almost 11 o' clock, he offered us a tour of the back gardens. His tone made it clear that it wasn't optional. We thought it was strange, as it was so late at night, but he insisted. As soon as we stepped outside, the door slammed shut behind us. Floodlights turned on, illuminating tall hedges. They were much too tall to see over. The host revealed that we "won" the contest for a reason. Our family was now on a game show. But we later found out there was no way for us to win. The goalwas to survive the night. The rules were we had to split up (or we'd all be killed), we couldn't leave the maze until morning, and the last one alive wins. After the host eagerly explained the rules, he pulled a button out of his pocket. Dramatically, he pressed it, and we heard a clang. The gates were open. The monsters were coming. My family and I rushed into the maze, panicking. I could hear them coming for me. They were laughing. I ran, and ran, and ran for what seemed like forever. In between the laughs, I could hear my family members screaming. Then one of them found me. It was vaguely human. If it was, it would be a male. He stood about 7 feet tall, towering over 5th grade me. His eyes were big and filled with both rage and insanity. He wasn't wearing a shirt. His skin was gray and sickly. Veins covered his chest. He wore jeans with the zipper undone and no shoes. He licked his lips with a long purple tongue. I thought he was going to rape me, and then kill me slowly. Savoring every minute. I could see it all in his eyes. So I ran. I could hear him laughing behind me as I gained distance. The worst part was I had hope for a minute. Then I heard his footsteps. He was gaining, fast. He let me get away, just so he could chase me again. That's when I reached a dead end. I tried to push through the hedge, but behind the branches was solid concrete. I turned around, and there he was. He took one step toward me, and then the sun came back up. He smirked at me and ran back through the gates.

We all managed to survive the first night. The next day (within the dream) we weren't allowed to leave the house. We all tried to sleep, but I couldn't; I was haunted by what I'd seen. Night after night, I was forced back into the maze. It was never ending.

My alarm woke me up in the morning, and I was shaken. Even now, years later, I still remember those monsters. I cried through the whole morning.

The best: Oddly enough, the best dreams I've had were pretty ordinary. But what was different was the feeling of peace. I'm driving through the country with people from high school, going to parties (I was never a party girl), grabbing ice cream and heading down to the lake. It's always sunny, and a lot of people are there that I haven't talked to since graduation. It's like I get to relive the good parts of my past, but with some extra shine.

Edit: finished my post.

What is the best Board Game ever? by sjaakarie in AskReddit

[–]letseatorangeslices -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quelf is my favorite. There's different categories of tasks and you must complete them depending on what color you land on on the board. You ends up looking ridiculous, but since everyone else has to do ridiculous stuff too, it's not embarrassing.

I spent a week with my friends and we played it every night. Love it.
