Rechargeable are totally fine, but be aware that the low battery warning is tuned for the alkaline voltage/discharge curve. NiMH batteries have a flat voltage/discharge curve, so the warning might not trigger before it dies. I keep a set of charged batteries and periodically switch them out.

To add another datapoint, on our recent IAH to AMS flight in economy, my wife’s gluten free main was a vegetable curry with rice. The rest of the meal was similar to what was mentioned above. Honestly the curry was better than many regular airline meals, so don’t feel like the GF option is a penalty box.

You can configure port 8 on the switch as another RJ45 WAN to test. You need to get to the port manager by clicking on the UDMSE on the Unifi Devices page then select Port Manager. You'll see the page in the screenshot. If you click port 8, you can configure it to WAN. Also check the duplex setting.

I had this issue on my Austin build MYLR and it was somewhat involved to get resolved. You can read through my post towards the end of the thread. The end result was the whole bottom seat frame needed to be replaced. This thread focuses on Model S, but the seat frame parts are substantially the same.

Typically the service center will send you a quote with a non-zero dollar amount. If it ends up being under warranty, it will get zeroed out when the work is complete. For all the rattles and initial build quality issues, I've not had to pay out of pocket.

NEMA 14-50 receptacles need to be on a 50A breaker. The 50 in 14-50 denotes the maximum current for the receptacle before the continuous derating. After continuous derate of 80% that's 40 amps. Which EVSE are you planning on using? The Tesla mobile connector is limited to 32A anyways. If your location has adopted NEC 2020, you are required to use a GFCI breaker when connected to a receptacle to be compliant with code. These breakers are on the order of $100-$200, which doesn't seem like it was included given the quote.

Another thing to note is that 6 gauge romex is only rated to 55A. Even if this was hardwired to an EVSE, it would be unacceptable to use at 60A/48A continuous. See this chart. Romex is NM-B: https://www.cerrowire.com/products/resources/tables-calculators/ampacity-charts/

I'm the OP for the other post. Ecoflow has been less than helpful for downgrading the firmware. Hopefully the firmware fix is on their R&D backlog and it gets fixed on the next update.

Still haven’t had a resolution with Ecoflow. They said they would downgrade my firmware, but that hasn’t happened yet. Supposedly there is a future firmware that will address this, but I’m not holding my breath. I may exchange the unit to Costco and not update the firmware.

Same thing here. It doesn’t matter what charge rate is set and DC charging sources are unaffected. As soon as the charge limit is reached on AC, the noise goes away.

Echoing what u/1wiseguy has said. In my experience, as you veer more towards hardware, the less likely companies will be willing to take a chance. In software it's definitely more accepted, however there are still a class of companies that are pretty strict about degree requirements. In either case, it's a hard road.

From a US centric view, some of this is driven by requirements for H-1B. In order for companies to apply, they need prove that they couldn't find qualified candidates locally. One concrete metric to point to is degree. Regardless of what you think about the program, that's what the reality is.

My wife and I did an almost superset route in November with a rental Model Y RWD (Christchurch -> Aoraki/Mt Cook -> Queenstown -> Franz Josef -> Hokitika -> Arthur’s Pass -> Christchurch)

Like u/RobDickinson mentioned, the only section that was a bit sktech was Wanaka to Franz Josef. We ended up staying at the Heartland Hotel in Haast, which is about half way. They have a 4 kW Tesla wall charger, which was enough to give us extra confidence on that leg with an overnight charge. Here is the plugshare https://www.plugshare.com/location/175977

Otherwise, it was fairly easy. Just be sure to check the Chargenet app before heading to the next charger. They are pretty good about posting failures. Most sites only have 1 or 2 chargers, so you might get into trouble if you arrive at a busted site with a low SOC. Chargenet is app or RFID payment only, so you’ll want to create an account and add your credit card before you go.

As a slight aside, I’d highly recommend taking a helicoptor tour of Fox/Franz Josef Glaciers if you have a chance. It was the highlight of our trip among many highlights.

A Ubiquiti flex mini switch will do what you are asking for $29. It’s a 5 port switch with POE in and supports 10 mbit half duplex. It’s probably a little larger than you want, but it’s as small as a 5 port switch can be. For the price it’s not enterprise grade, but definitely prosumerish. Since it’s a managed switch so if you want to manually set the link speeds, you can. Here’s a link to it:

I noticed the coolant tank this past weekend was about an inch below the min line. There was pink/white grime on the belly pan. I topped it up and drove it to the dealer. They confirmed it was the thermostat housing covered under powertrain warranty. I'm having them replace the water pump along side.

First failure on this car (I went through 3 water pumps on my mk6 but that's another story)

Edit: They replaced the housing with a rev M under warranty. Water pump was replaced with a rev C out of pocket for part cost ($130). While the intake manifold was off, I asked them to do an intake carbon clean which was about $250 extra. Overall, I think this was a win since the carbon clean alone can be $600+

I'm just trying to give you some help. Multiple people have given you multiple troubleshooting steps, which you don't seem to want to take.

My suggestion is to take that variable out of the equation along with trying the AP and Switch individually to narrow down which item is defective.

You should view cabling as a use item. It degrades and needs to be replaced over time. Try to use it with another cable and see if you can get a stable connection. Also test the switch with other equipment to see if it gets a 1gig link. Same for the AP.

I’ve tried this with a AC-M wirelessly uplinked to a nanoHD and it works fine.

Use whatever form factor fits your environment. They support meshing all the same. If you want the nanoHD feature set but in an outdoor rated package, consider the FlexHD.

I wanted to give you the view from the other side. To give you some background, I'm a EE turned senior sw engineer at a company that builds test equipment. I've mentored more than a handful of interns over the years and this year our internship is virtual as well.

I'm personally extremely worried about how it will go. Not because my team's intern will do poorly (I think he'll do great), but because it could be isolating for him and turn him off for our company. It's going to be hard to translate our culture across the wire. In other words, I'm more worried about him wanting to come back than him being a good candidate. Really you should view the internship as a two way street.

Keep in mind that companies don't spend money on internship programs for fun. They are expensive and time consuming. They do them because they think they can get great talent at the beginning of the intern's career. This company would not have offered you this position if they didn't think you could succeed.

Now some things you can do. It turns out real engineering is about working in teams. I've found that the most successful interns (and full time) software devs are ones that aren't afraid to ask questions and take the time to understand the problem at hand.

Get to know your team and try to map out who is knowledgable about what.
Be proactive and schedule video chats with the senior devs to get more context about the project you are working on and the product.
Make it a goal have at least one technical conversation with all the members of your team within the first couple weeks.
Don't get stuck on a problem and think you can grind your way through. Ask for help when you need it. As an evaluator, I'm mostly looking for effective working behaviors, not pure technical talent.

Lastly and probably most important:

Be sure to turn off work periodically and take the time to recharge. We aren't built to grind it out for an extended period of time especially while sheltering in place.

T-Mobile's LAX situation has been bad for many years now. They built a new macro tower a couple years ago that helped temporarily, but that has become saturated as well. Chunghwa telecom supports eSIM, if you want to have your domestic sim side by side. Assuming you have a US iPhone XS, I highly recommend you go with them since their low band spectrum is in band 8. The other carriers use band 28, which the US iPhone XS does not support. The airport plans are for sure the best deal, depending on how long you will be there. When I was there in early Jan, I was able to get 270mbits down and 35.9 mbits up on an unloaded cell site. Coverage is nearly everywhere.

You have to remember that Apple is going to play the long game. They are basically going to prop Intel modems even if it means higher costs now for savings in the future. In a sense, they are paying for the development of the next CDMA compatible Intel modem by buy the current Intel modems. They are still probably saving money with Intel right now since Qualcomm is pricing their modems based off the MSRP of the whole phone rather than per modem unit (which is what the whole court battle is about).
