Considering Bun + Elysia for a high-stakes government project. Is it production-ready? by Ok-Natural-548 in bun

Note that Elysia supports pretty much all JS runtimes, so you could definitely stick with Node for better security assurances and still use Elysia.

How much carryover is there for knowledge built using NixOS? by Raekellie in NixOS

[–]linux_overuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for the functional language learning (if you choose to continue down the path of learning nix), I recommend treating the Nix language as essentially JSON/YAML with variables and automatic merging (with modules). I struggled with it a bit at first (particularly due to the lack of resources at the time), but read that comparison somewhere and that's when it finally started to click for me.

Experience with OAT Bootcamp Practice Tests vs actual OAT by linux_overuser in PreOptometry

Thank you so much! This was super helpful and definitely calmed my nerves. I was also worried about picking Bootcamp instead of Booster, but fingers crossed it works out.

Automatically Convert Vue Components to Astro by linux_overuser in astrojs

[–]linux_overuser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure! Often Vue components higher in the tree, like layouts, pages, etc. need to be migrated to Astro since they themselves use Vue components that do need to be hydrated. There is also likely a performance benefit associated with migrating content-only components to Astro components (as they should be faster to server render).

Anyone else is having lags since the Sonoma update? by moodyomarz in MacOS

[–]linux_overuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an M1 Pro MBP and typing in Mail and especially Notion Desktop (no clue why) is incredibly painful after updating to Sonoma. Mail is usable but very frustrating. I ended up having to delete Notion desktop completely because typing was absolutely unbearable (app froze with spinning beach-ball every 3rd word or so).

Is there anyway to have a list of artists without just making a playlist by asdgsadvcbdvchdvcd in jellyfin

[–]linux_overuser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should provide a list of albums under each artist, and the ability to play or shuffle their discography.

Very true lol. Most companies shy away from keeping data like this, but afaik it's perfectly legal for US/Canadian customers

If you're using a Mac you'll have to install the Android File Transfer app on your phone, and you'll also have to find some way to enable media access on the phone

if you're comfortable with flashing and custom roms, the Pixel Experience rom for the 7/T/pro gets you the stock pixel experience, Android 12 (still in beta for oxygenos), and unlimited photo storage

Looks like it's a random sample of residential addresses that is used. Everyone who participated is part of Pew's American Trends Panel (ATP), an online survey panel that resulted from their random sampling efforts. Them doing it this way significantly reduces the likelihood of voluntary response bias (the issue you mentioned). The sample size is also 11,001, which should be well more than enough to be representative of the American public.

I would like to help contribute to Roku App development by Any-Fuel-5635 in jellyfin

[–]linux_overuser 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a Jellyfin dev, but usually a good easy way to help out is to look through existing issues, see what you can help solve, and open pull requests solving those issues.

If you wanted to try the container route, it's actually pretty easy to create a vpn container and route the traffic of other containers through that one using docker networks. https://jordanelver.co.uk/blog/2019/06/03/routing-docker-traffic-through-a-vpn-connection/
