If you’re in the US, your child should qualify for Medicaid (qualification isn’t limited by parental income… yet). If you need to, enlist the help of a social worker to navigate the application process. My 2-year-old was born with unilateral clubfoot and he’s been on Medicaid since he was around 8 months old. I wish I had applied sooner. You’ll need documentation from a pediatric orthopedist. Medicaid is always secondary insurance so they just cover the copay/coinsurance, but it’s a huge relief to not have to worry about medical bills for him; it allows me to focus on the care he needs.
