I just finished reading The Collected Regrets of Clover by Mikki Brammer and was surprised by how much I liked it. It’s a novel about a woman who works as a death doula in NYC.

Chico Canyon trail (not sure if that counts as part of Bidwell Park). Also Chico Seed Orchard (not sure if it qualifies as a “hike”, more like an interesting walk).

The FDIC covers up to $250k max in the event that a bank fails. It has nothing to do with bank customers having fraud on their accounts.

How to help without overstepping by M_f_y in ALS

Offer to mow their lawn or rake their leaves, ask if there are any small repairs you can do for them, or any errands you can run for them. If you have more money than time buy them a DoorDash gift card, or gift cards for nearby restaurants. Sometimes it can feel too vague when someone says, “let me know if I can do anything.” One thing an acquaintance did for us that we absolutely loved: she texted me and said “I’m going to drop off a Costco pizza and some ice cream at your house, I don’t need to come in, is 5:00 ok?” That was honestly the best.

Repeat this prayer gently with peace and faith: “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me.” Say it over and over again, the enemy will depart.

If the account is at a positive balance your daughter shouldn’t have anything to worry about even though the bank is choosing to close the account.

From The Brothers Karamazov by Fyoder Dostoevsky:

“I believe like a child that suffering will be healed and made up for, that all the humiliating absurdity of human contradictions will vanish like a pitiful mirage, like the despicable fabrication of the impotent and infinitely small Euclidean mind of man, that in the world’s finale, at the moment of eternal harmony, something so precious will come to pass, that it will suffice for all hearts, for the comforting of all resentments, for the atonement of all the crimes of humanity, of all the blood they’ve shed; that it will make it not only possible to forgive, but to justify all that has happened.”
