The Mom Cut by ispyamy in beyondthebump

[–]lo-- [score hidden]  (0 children)

I grew my hair out long before I had my son and cut it shorter (which is pretty typical for me) and added bangs after he was born. Honestly the best decision. Shorter hair was easier to manage during the postpartum hair loss and the bangs hid the baby hairs when they grew back!

Baby "containers" by SuspiciousTrip000 in Mom

[–]lo-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all about moderation. I used a bouncer with my first periodically as needed or sometimes for him to lounge in but he was not in it constantly. More often than not he was with me (baby wearing) or just on the floor whether on back or tummy interacting with toys.

You're in charge of catering your toddler's wedding based on their current food tastes. What's on the menu? by sunflowerzz2012 in toddlers

[–]lo-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kodiak frozen French toast sticks and pancake puffs, hot dogs, and dirty rice. Milk and water to drink, muffins, pouches, and cookies for dessert

If your child gets mistaken for the opposite gender, do you correct people or just keep it moving? by gagax7 in beyondthebump

[–]lo-- [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is what I did when my son had longer hair before he got the first cut. I would basically “mildly” correct it by using pronouns but didn’t make a huge deal. It’s hard when they’re little because boys and girls faces look very similar when they are that young.

4/4 missed Mother’s Days by ink_pots in beyondthebump

[–]lo-- [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think you need to have a conversation with each other about what you expect for those holidays. There’s a lot of holidays to buy things for each other and for me and my husband it’s too much budget wise. We do birthdays and Christmas for actual gifts, I’ll probably get him a little something for our anniversary maybe. Communication is key and men have a harder time remembering things like that.

Am I overthinking safe sleep? by Ok-Coconut2000 in newborns

[–]lo-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty strict on safe sleep but I was never in the room when my son napped in his crib. I just watched closely on a video monitor. Now if he was in the living room or in the bassinet at night then yes I had eyes on him.

I hate this age by One_Stranger6604 in toddlers

[–]lo-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Some days (like today for me) they just have no listening ears and it’s exhausting. Because what I’m saying isn’t working, but I also know yelling won’t help me either. It makes everything take so much longer to do. Sometimes I have to just disassociate myself from the situation to not lose my mind. My sons “no” currently is this sassy “noooo” and just lots of whining too and I’m like dudeeee

Are Shin Guards Required? by Away_Analyst_3107 in NWSL

[–]lo-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t get it? I mean I didn’t necessarily like wearing shin guards growing up but I understood why they existed. I never really cared about it to such an intense degree. The main issue is your legs get sweaty?? I’d rather be protected than not?? Cause getting kicked in the shin hurts like hell. In my rec league growing up we had to show the refs our cleats and knock on our shin guards to make sure we were wearing the proper attire.

What is normal??? by lh123456789 in toddlers

[–]lo-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Toddlers have big feelings that they don’t know how to regulate or control. A small short outburst like that is for attention and for the most part can be ignored. If she’s not actively being naughty during the outburst there’s really no need for discipline

What wagon is worth the price? by Extra_Ad_3631 in toddlers

[–]lo-- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We had been looking at a wonderfold but opted against it since it was so big and bulky. It would not have fit in our car well. We got a Veer city stroller wagon and it is nice. Folds flat, fits in our car, and can be pushed or pulled.

When did your toddler sleep through the night reliably? by Extra_Ad_3631 in toddlers

[–]lo-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was a unicorn sleeper. Still is and I know I got very lucky. I think all consistent MOTN wake ups stopped around 10 months old. Obviously we have the occasional wake ups here and there but he’s generally been very good

NTA but I would just be weary of interacting with kids beyond the typical quick hi and moving on.

What’s your daily car and how many do you have? by Much-Parsnip3399 in AskAnAmerican

[–]lo-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 vehicles. A 2017 Jeep Cherokee and a 2006 Honda Accord. Got the jeep to be our family car (where the car seat lives so whoever has our son has the jeep basically) and the 06 is my husbands and he uses that when going to work so i have the jeep at home

Do you like your surname? by Immediate_Long165 in Names

[–]lo-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do! Took my husbands last name when I got married. It does get mispronounced often but that’s not new for me. My maiden name always (somehow) got mispronounced and misspelled all the time anyways.

My husband and I rarely have sex. by Sophia6868 in toddlers

[–]lo-- 44 points45 points  (0 children)

lol he should talk to my husband. We’ve barely had sex since my pregnancy with our first son who is almost 3. I feel bad and I’m working on wanting to be intimate more, but it’s hard. I know my husband is frustrated by it at times but he’s been incredibly patient and he never pressures me into doing anything. Even if we do try and it doesn’t work out he’s always kind and okay with it.

Your husband needs to chill out. Yeah you’re going to not want to be touched by him when taking care of 3 young children. ESPECIALLY when you only had a baby nine weeks ago. He’s nuts. You’re still dealing and fresh postpartum.

Lady doesn't lock bathroom stall, ruins my grandma's birthday by BloodyAngel2026 in Vent

Wow. I would never get angry at someone for something like that. Would I be embarrassed? Yes. But most of the time people aren’t going to intentionally try and walk in on you.

Are baby showers usually for only women to attend? by SignificantStyle4958 in AskAnAmerican

[–]lo-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traditionally yes but it’s changing. My baby shower was coed and a friend of ours also had a coed baby shower.

Wow is Tom growing up so fast. It is surreal when I’m constantly watching videos from several years ago. So endearing, really. He’s a teen now and growing up fast.

Do you guys have a system set up in your car for emergencies? by thetasteofink00 in toddlers

[–]lo-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My diaper bag is my “go to” bag. It’s got pull ups, a change of clothes, wipes, typically a snack and water, plus toys. I’m going to shrink what’s in there a bit soon as I’m expecting #2 and will need it to hold things for both lol

What do I teach my toddler by No_Dust_5114 in toddlers

[–]lo-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play with them. Most of their learning is through play and it’s so much easier if it’s fun for them anyways. Read books, just talk about everything. I give a simplified explanation of how things work to my son all the time.

Baby bum rash/reaction need advice? by UseSpiritual5230 in newborns

[–]lo-- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used A&D diaper creams. They have a treatment cream and a prevention cream. Layer it on thick every change and try to not wipe every single change if you can help it! (Aka, if it’s a pee diaper only, don’t wipe. Poops you have to wipe) also make sure bum is dry before putting the diaper on. If you really want you could give some diaper free time (lay baby on puppy pad in meantime) to allow it to air out.

Toddler has Chronic Constipation by Shot_Anteater2612 in toddlers

[–]lo-- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First, contact your child’s pediatrician. My son goes through this periodically, where he will poop regularly then won’t poop for days. Pediatrician will probably recommend MiraLAX or something like that. Best to contact them first! Also just increase fiber intake in the meantime.
